Being a claustrophobic I was very nervous about going for an MRI despite my doctor's insistance. However, I was referred to Dove Open MRI by my doctor's office and so I visited this location for my study.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised and immedicately felt relaxed after the staff welcomed me. In tears I had explained to Colleen how scared I was and she sat with me to comfort me through the entire study. Without their polite attitude I would not have been able to complete this examination.

I thank you all, especially Colleen and Oga for your patience.

Regards, Ms Teri.

My mother is 88 years old and had to have an MRI on both of her shoulders and right elbow, which means we needed to make 3 trips to Dove.

The staff was kind, patient and very considerate of my mothers needs. I am very grateful for the patience and gentleness that Tony showed my mother. Because of the kindness that Tony showed her, I was not stressed about bringing her back, and this made my life so much easier.

Pros: Patient and considerate staff and I did not have to take time off from work

Cons: None

I have had a number of open MRI's, both in the suburbs and in Manhattan. I never had a problem even though I have a mild case of claustrophobia. When I needed to have an MRI in Manhattan on an urgent basis, I checked some websites and chose Dove because I wanted to "be greeted with a smile and treated in a caring and respectful manner". A "friendly relaxed atmosphere" sounded really good, too.

In less than 10 minutes of my arrival, I was upbraided by a staff member for taking a business call that I had been expecting for over a week. The waiting room was empty and my call didn't seem to bother anyone behind the glass-windowed office except this staff member. When I got to the MRI room, I was told that the music/headphones system hadn't been working for two weeks(!) but I was offered a cheap pair of sponge ear plugs to wear if I wanted. Well, in my experience an MRI sounds just like a jackhammer which is why one usually gets music to listen to and sound-cancelling headphones to wear. Although the technician was politely apologetic, I had my doubts about my ability to remain stock still for 45 minutes while listening to that amount of ear-splitting noise. The deal breaker for me was the machine itself. I actually tried getting under it for a minute before full-blown claustrophobia set in. Three strikes were enough for me. I left.

Pros: can't think of one

Cons: No headphones/music to muffle ear-splitting sound.
