We were out of towners, looking for a cheap dinner after leaving an arm and a leg at the Cheesecake Factory in the nearby Colonie Mall the night before. Found this KFC location down Central Ave, in what can only be described as a more "hoody" section of Albany. I judge that by the ramshackle residences that passed for house right next to the restaurant, the non patron folks hanging out around the outside, and the girl that solicited money while I waited for my party to get food and come out. I was born and raised in innercity Philly, so I know "hoody", and have the savvy to not overreact to it too. This was hoody enough that it warranted me pulling the car up closer, with the motor running, to the door. Maybe they were just boisterous teens play boxing and horsing around, maybe they weren't.

You should always want to go in to order from the counter of a fast food chicken joint, not use the drive thru, because there are always "bad" chicken pieces that many of them will try to pass off on inattentive customers.

It was a long wait Friday 12/10/2011 because it's also not so unusual for these operations to be run by kids that don't know what the heck they are doing. They'll accept the pay and work the hours, so they are hired. Waiting like that should serve to remind us that this is a sub par level of food to be forcing our body to consume, and we must endeavor in the future to make better choices for our and our children's health. But consume it we did, that night, back at the hotel. Food wise, it's as good as KFC chicken is anywhere else, and if you must do the takeout fried chicken thing, KFC Original Recipe is far ahead of any other major brand.
