They charged me $9 for a vodka martini and added $2 for the olives! Is this crazy? No refills on coffee. Service was sloppy and chaotic.

Pros: doesn't matter

Cons: just an unpleasant place

This is a perfect brunch spot in the heart of the East village. The iced tea is a must and the french toast is to die for!

This is my favorite pace to get Moroccan food. It's a great place for a date - the restaurant's ambiance is nice, the staff there are very genuine and friendly, and best of all the food is delicious as a very affordable price. Brunch is always popular here too - there's a wait, but it's worth it. It's a gem in the East Village, and the seating outside represents what a true NYC restaurant is like.

Literally discovered this while walking around reading menus after having dinner in the neighborhood. Vowed to check it out and on a recent evening after a stressful day of work, we decided to give it a whirl. Walked in w/o res. and it turned out to be just the right timing. Got a table for two near the very busy bar. 5 minutes later the line for tables was out the door! Food, WOW, it was great, enjoyed every bite. My wife had wonderful lamb chops from the specials and I had lamb tagine! Both were excellent, as was our appetizer of halumi cheese.
Can't wait to go back, our server was friendly, efficient and thorough! Just about a perfect end to a stressful day!

We went for brunch and were seated immediately! The food and coffee were out of this world; I would recommend it to anyone looking for some great food, ambiance and people watching!

I recently went to Mogador and had a horrible brunch experience. The service was very slow and the server was rude. I was told that there was a rule to how many ingredients my omlette could have, even if I offered to pay extra (I only wanted four items in there and apparently there's a three item rule). They could'nt even accomodate a simple request like 'egg whites'. Don't go here if you want an enjoyable and relaxed dining experience!

Awesome place!! Arrived at around 9 pm and only had to wait 5-10 minutes for a table. Cocktails are alittle pricy but very well made. The atmosphere was very nice..candle lit and romantic. Would probably be a great place for a date. Our waitress was amazing (ask for Rachel), had excellent recommendations for wine and drinks as well as dinner. I'm not a huge fan of hummus and it was excellent. The food was great, I would highly recommend the goat cheese ravioli or the salmon.
Overall the place was great and I'm looking forward to going back again!

WE WENT WITH A FEW FRIENDS AND IT WAS MY FIRST TIME HAVING MOROCCAN FOOD. I HAVE TO SAY IT WAS GREAT, EACH OF US HAD SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND I WAS TOTALLY IMPRESSED. AT FIRST I DID NOT WANT TO TRY MANY THINGS SINCE I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH FOOD AND THE COMBO'S WERE VERY DIFFERENT. YOU SHOULD GO AND TRY THE CASABLANCA IT IS GREAT... THE SERVICE WAS GOOD AS WELL.

Large portions of coucous with little flavor. The waiter was nice but clueless about the wine list. Nice atmosphere.

casual but not grungy, clean and a classy saturday night. went at 10 pm and was easy to get a table for two, but the place was definitely busy. not overly crowded though. orange martini was very good. chicken couscous was well made, satisfying, but nothing earth-shattering or original. my friend had hummus and falafal...hummus was the average high quality hummus, and the falafal was pretty amazing. fried just right.

would go back, because:
dependable, not overly greasy/unhealthy food
super reasonable prices
young hip crowd, but not uncomfortably trendy
strong well-made drinks
fun location

I've been going to Mogador for about 10 years. I love the place. The tomato ginger soup is a staple in my diet, as is the cucumber salad. The chicken tagine with apricots and prunes is wonderful. If you want to enjoy a little Moroccan flavor at a good price in a chill/funky atmosphere, this is the place for you.

i liked this place. has good atmosphere, was fun dinner with a group of friends. we ordered a bunch of food and shared. food was very good. the problem was the hour and 15 min wait after host told us 30-45 min. i was in no rush so i didnt care having drinks at the bar. overall id go back again, but not if the wait is this long.

Love the boiled lamb dish with apricots & prunes with cous-cous. It's a good deal-- lots of food for a good price. All the desserts are good. The ambiance is romantic/mysterious dim lighting and the space is used well. Definitely worth it if the wait isn't too long; it can get crowded.

I've eaten here many times and have always had wonderful experiences. The atmosphere is very cozy and romantic, and the food is delicious! The appetizers are all so good, we usually get several. The tangines and mixed grill are to die for! Always had wonderful service. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and I often take friends and family here while they visit.

The food is absolutely delicious and the staff is very attentive. As a lover of everything humus and cucumber, there is no other restaurant in the city that compares to Mogador's appetizers. When in the mood for something lighter their kebabs and salads hit the spot and when looking for a more formal diner, their selection of tangines, couscous and grills are delicious - I would recommend the mixed grill for a sample of chicken, lamb and sausage or the Charmoulla (spicy tangine) and there is no way you can skip dessert...

The restaurant is usually busy, so plan on waiting for a table during prime dining hours on the weekend, but it is definitely worth the wait.

OK, St. Mark's Place has long ago lost it's punks and derilicts and is now filled with latter day imitators, but that I don't give a damn attitude remains in many of the street's establishments. The waitresses refused to look at us here, and boy were they sour acting! You do though get decently (read: "nothing exciting, nothing wrong') prepared and inexpensive grilled meats, tagines, and various spreads. The room is bright and uninviting, almost like a fast food place (well... a little cozier than BK). And if you sit outside, you may even get panhandled by a junkie or a neo-punk (read: a great place to take your parents from Iowa.)

It's so cheap that I go with my friends who are NYU students! The staff is friendly, the food is cheap and the desserts are amazing! Get the tangines or the mixed grill and finish it off with the molten chocolate cake (with some tea, of course). On Wednesdays they have belly dancing also.

ate here on sunday. we had made a reservation (thankfully as the place was packed) and were seated immediately. our table wasn't the best but that's the only negative point i can make. the food was wonderful and completely affordable, the French-speaking waiting staff was very efficient and friendly, the wine we ordered was inexpensive but really good. and you MUST order dessert if you eat here. everything was good. as for the coffee (espresso), it was strong and delicious, authentic French-style strong espresso.

The breakfasts are great and very reasonable. Also, it can be very uncrowded and pleasant during the breakfast hours. You won't miss anything if you skip lunch or dinner here, and I wouldn't trust the eggs benedict here (or most places) at brunch, so go for breakfast -- the ratings below reflect the breakfast experience!

I am moroccan and I can say that the food is very bad. It has no taste.
THe pastilla was salty, there was no balance between salt and sugar as it should be.
It is absolutely nor authentic Moroccan cuisine.

Met friends here on a Wednesday night for drinks. Great ambiance and very friendly staff. Food was just ok, but prices were definately reasonable. Would definately head back for drinks again. I thought the environment was more remniscent of a small (friendly) French restaurant than an actual cafe which was nice. Dimly lit and romantic-y.

At dinner, I'm a fan of the tagines. Other good options include the falafel and hummus combo plate. I was not such a fun of the steak. Brunch is also really good, esp. the omelets. It's inexpensively priced, but only takes cash. The ambience is pleasant, but it tends to get very crowded.

Lots of Mogador's clientele laze away the day here. It's easy. The staff is friendly and the food from breakfast to dinner is cheap and good. What you get are Moroccan dishes made of fresh seasonal ingredients: spicy carrots, Greek salad…
