After a failed attempt to get my 11 year old daughters hair to "calm down" I decided I couldn't take the contant tears and arguing every time I had to brush and blow dry her hair. I asked a bunch of woman I knew who had similiar hair types and who had the Japanese straightening process for advice on my dilemma. I was told by a few woman that Mini hair village was THE place to go and that they had used them for years and were very happy. So I took my daughter there had the process done. It took about 6 hours but when she walked out of that place3 she was THRILLED!! She finally had beautiful smooth, shiny, soft, silky, FLOWING hair!!! And I was equally as happy! It is a long process and a small cramped salon, but there is a reason why 100's of women a week file into this place and endure the wait, its because these people know what they are doing!! Its been a year and my daughter is definately in need of another treatment. I would highly reccomend this place, if you had this treatment done at a salon in L.I. or Manhattan you would easily pay $500. I paid $230 for my daughters shoulder length kinky thick hair, and it was the best $230 I ever spent!! Be prepared to wait and you also have to dry your own hair, but with the money you saving is worth it! You won't be sorry!!

Been going to hair Village for 6 years and NEVER walked out disappointed! I used to pay anywhere from $300 to $500 ( plus took so much longer) on Long Island and was never really happy with the results. It may be "assembly line" but they KNOW what they're doing and Mini ( owner) keeps an eye on each person telling the time and product to use on each person individually.Worth the trip and the time.......not to mention, the haircutters are amazing and do EXACTLY what u want!

Alright so here's the truth about not only Hair Village Saloon but Japanese perms in general.
The people here cannot speak English.
They are ruthless, careless, and mean.
Your hair comes out staticy.
Your hair comes out dead without volume.
Alot of you hair does fall out.
Your hair becomes severely damage.
You hair gets cut up all over.
You will get burned and they will not apologize.
They do not do a good job in straightening the hair near your ears.
If you come back to get it fix because they did a poor job, they are very disgusting towards you and will refuse to do anything about it.
Do not do the Japanese perm for it not only kills your hair, but it really does make it fall out.

The place is small and cramped and you feel like you're on an assembly line but it's worth saving $300+. They base their pricing on your hair type, thickness and health. Mine costs $160 which it better than $500 anywhere else. They have 2 locations across the street from eachother and are open at least 6 days a week. I've been going for years, they know what they're doing and will NEVER do you wrong! You need to tell them whether you dye, have frosted, etc and they will advise you appropriately. I get my hair done twice a year and it's well worth the few hours you spend there. Word of advice: Wash your hair before you go it will shave at least an hour off your time. I used to live in Queens but now live 2 hours away and still am devoted to them.

I found this Japanese Straightening place, somehow, on the internet. I went because of the great prices! The place is very tiny and very cramped! There are always TONS of girls getting their hair done, and its not a very comfortable process. After 7 hours, I walked out of this place with perfectly stright hair (6 months later, its still perfectly straight!) Japanese straightening is the only thing they do here, so they really know what they are doing, and it only cost me $170 plus tips!!! Don't let the look of the place discourage you!! They are all Koreans as well, but they speak minimal English.

PROS: Excellent Price!!
CONS: Very very cramped and uncomfortable
