Absolutely no luxury apartment which they claim.

There are many reasons I loved living here. First, it is extremely quiet. Mostly single professionals live in the area so there are no children running around, which is definitely a plus. I lived in the phase I apartments where heat is included with the rent, so you may find it will save you money. The laundry rooms are great and I had a beautiful view of the woods from my apartment. The kitchen is small, but as a young professional, I never had a problem with it. The office/housekeeping/maintenence staff was always very helpful and responsive and the other residents were nice without being overwhelmingly friendly. The only thing I would have to say is that I wished there was air conditioning built-in, but installing a wall unit was not that much of a problem. Parking can be a little tight on weekends but I have never had to walk farther than 15 yards to the building. This place is great for grad students and other professionals, but if you're an undergrad you may want to look elsewhere because you might find it boring. This place is much cleaner, quieter, and more well maintained than the 20 or so other places I looked at when moving to the Binghamton area.

Although the prices are decent and the location is very nice, these apartments are lacking in quite a few areas. I am NOT speaking of the newer "California Style" apartments nested just down the hill on this same campus, but of the 2 old main wood buildings, where most apt's are. The exterior is a rough gray-green primer-painted wood with old windows, and can scare away many tasteful tenants or guests. Secondly, the parking is always near-capacity of full. This, on its face, may sound like no problem. However, this means you must very often walk from one end of the parking lot (over 100 yards) to and from your car. This gets tiresome if you use your car daily. The laundromats (1 room per building) are very well stocked, aside from having to travel to the fitness center to replenish the Mac-Gray laundry debit cards. The fitness center is minimal, outdated, and in need of a major face-lift. Initially, the apartments seem nice, aside from the dirty, narrow stairwells. Expect a dismally small kitchen (chefs, look elsewhere!) in a chock-stock, run-of-the mill apartment setup. I have to mention again that the apartment sizes are usually more than adequate. And during the winter, it's nice to know that the water-radiator-based heating is completely free. That is most definitely a perk, but I can't help but wonder how much they factored that "free" heat adjustment into the rent price. The large closet space is especially helpful when you have a lot of stuff. There are pre-fabricated slots in the walls of each major room, in which you can put an air conditioner. The office there rents them out for $30-50 per month, but a better move is to buy your own -- upper floors will need one. You will also smell everything you neighbors cook, as well as any cigarette smoke - cheap construction. First-floor gets a patio, and 2nd & 3rd floors get either one or two 4' X 20' crappy, view-blocking, hornet-infested, wood decks to enjoy fresh air upon. A decent, not great , apartment.
