Chelsea Market

Drifting through the food-laden halls of this once-abandoned factory is a sensory delight.

I would never order a gift basket from this company again. I felt the items used were marked up way too much and the overall presentation just fell flat. If i wanted something that falls short of my intention i would have went to harry & david again.

Honestly, I ordered a sympathy basket to ship to California from a DA's Office when one of our co-workers lost her father. The Basket was $129 and I put it on my card and collected money for it. I received a call from an employee named Steven who told me they don't ship fruit to CA. So, I asked if they could switch the basket to one without fruit which was $10 more and just take $10 of product out. They told me they would charge me $50 because if they had to take stuff out it would be a "custom basket." I reminded them this was for a funeral. They did not care. I told them I spent over $500 sending baskets after Hurricane Katrina to displaced friends. The guy says, "fine, we will take the fudge out of the basket." Cause it would hurt you to float a couple of pieces of fudge to a grieving widow and her two children. If I ever get that money hungry, soulless and shallow...

Pros: Presentation

Cons: Worst Customer Service Ever

Frequently you'll catch a sale or 10.

For example, 2 for 1 on a certain potato chip brand as well as 5 for a dollar shortbread cookies.

Cheese selection is actually better than you would think -- for having about 15 cheeses, would you think English cheddar could be found?

Very reasonable selection of CMB branded bags (for example, $12 for an insulated lunch bag).

Attentive and happy staff! This is of course close to the 10th Ave side of Chelsea Market.

Chelsea markets is home to an authentic italian deli for hard to find flours, pastas, meats, olives, oils, etc. It made me nostalgic to my childhood and rivals arthur avenue for selection, although pricier for sure. there are several great places to eat within the market as well as many well known bakeries including eleni's and sarabeth's. a great way to spend an afternoon if combined with a walk through the west village.

Not what I think of concerning a marketplace.
Not enough stores to make the trip again. The wine shop looks promising but other shops are not enticing enough

This is a cute shop with alot things to build your own basket. It is a good place to go if you are looking for a unique idea for a gift. They have a good selection items to fill up a basket or pre-made ones with themes such as a bridal basket, get-well, new baby, and much more.

Now who doesn't like receiving a gift basket? I just all the stuff you can get inside.. Chelsea baskets is a great place to shop for stuff to full up the basket. They have cookies, candys, chocolates, jams, teas and much more and for every occasion. They have some pre-made baskets if you don't want to design on yourself.

This isn't exactly the kind of place I would go to buy things for myself, but it really is perfect when gift shopping. THey have all sorts of little items and candies, and teas, etc that make gift shopping and giving (and assuming receiving) really fun. I think they make up baskets for you, but I prefer to do it myself.

If heaven were all about food, then Chelsea Market would be my version of heaven. The aroma from all the baked good shops alone is worth the schlep all the way to 9th Ave. Amy's Bread makes the best ciabatta. And all the desserts from Eleni's Cookies, Ruth's Cheesecakes and Rugelach, and the Fat Witch Bakery are worth every calorie. Notable mention to the Italian grocery store that has an amazing selection of cheeses and everything else imaginable.

chelsea market is truly unexpected. a mall right in the middle of manhattan. what is great is that instead of the stores being "sunglass hut" and "the gap," it is almost all little food shops. like a giant "food court" (that's what we used to call the food area in my mall where i grew up in ohio) with a bit of shopping. and the food court is great-- top notch thai, you can get lobster rolls at the seafood store, milkshakes at the dairy place, and fresh carrot juice at the fruit place. there does seem to be an overload of cookies and baked goods places, which is the only odd thing. i feel spoiled that i live within walking distance of this great place!

Chelsea Market is a fresh breath for Manhattan!! The restaurants (there are SO many to choose from) are all well above average and it's totally convenient to have a Thai salad followed by a FatWitch brownie. Manhattan Fruit Exchange has the freshest produce for low prices! I could go on and on - but everyone should check it out. There website is an easy guide- www.chelseamarket.com

Chelsea Market reminds me of Pike Place in Seattle--stalls of all kinds of yummies that go on forever. Some fun displays and waterfalls and such keep the space interesting too. Everything from a great butcher to a Hale & Hearty Soups. Great for when you just don't know what you want to eat and you have some time to kill.
