I had to rent a car a few weeks ago as my car was in the shop and needed something for a few days that was inexpensive. I found Port Motors in the phone book and called them to find their prices a lot lower than the big car rental chains. The only downside is that the cars a little older and not as well maintained, but for the money it was fine. The service people were very friendly and the entire process was rather painless.
Highly recommended
PROS: Very good prices on cars, cheaper than the chains
