This is a great restaurant to go for seafood or southern style meals. It can be very crowded and loud on weekend nights but the food is often worth the wait. The prices are higher than some of the other local restaurants but the service is great.

The first time I went to Maxies I was blown away. First by the unique but fun interior, but then more importantly by the food.
My favorite dish by far is the cajun crawfish appetizer. Sometimes we have to get one for each person because it is just so delicious. Other favorites include the po' boy sandwiches, pulled pork, and chicken fried chicken. But there's so much more! And many of the meals come with cajun fries, which I can't get enough of. One of the best parts is that instead of bread before the meal, you get corn bread. Yum.
The wait staff is always happy, helpful, and attentive. The food comes at perfect timing. I couldn't ask for more out of a restaurant... and I haven't even tried the oyster bar yet!
The prices are also very reasonable. My friends and I often go here for a break from campus food, and I always bring my parents to Maxies when they come to visit. The only downside is limited parking. But I'd walk!

This eatery is one of the major reasons that I miss living in Ithaca, NY. Located not too far from the heart of the city, this restaurant and raw bar features some of the best cajun food I've had!
There's almost always a wait though, and they don't take reservations. But trust me the food is sooo worth the wait! Their Po' Boys are simply legendary, and the desserts always feature seasonal items that make them that much more special.
Portion sizes are extremely generous, which makes the pricier fare a good bargain. And to add to the Mardi Gras feel? They even give you beads!

Its worth putting up with the cramped feeling and excessive noise in this marvelous oyster bar and Cajun eatery. The food is almost all spicy, and youll need to go again and again to try everything that tempts you on the menu. Happy hour until 6 pm means half-price oysters and clams from the raw bar.
