Most amazing training experience in my life. Disciplince, awareness, respect are some of the things that I learned here that have stayed with me all my life. Even the fighting form is special and is instilled in me such that 15 years later I still move in the way of a Jaribu artist. The circle and the triangle with the black panther inside are the symbols. Kyoshi Ronald Austin was the founder of the Jaribu System of Martial Arts. Sensei Joseph Sessum was my main teacher along with Sensei Frank Bartholemew. Great men all. I thank you for the influence Jaribu has had in my life.

Pros: Great foundation for life. Training for mental and physical discpline.

Cons: None

I was a student at the Jaribu System of Martial Arts for about 8 years and I was transformed from an unconfident clutz with two left feet to a stronger, highly aware individual. The Jaribu system is a combination of many fighting arts to create a style which involves fighting one to multiple attackers, defending against weapons and ground fighting. You are taught how to use weapons, how to increase your flexibility, and simply how to stay fit.

At the time I was a student, the senseis and students were predominately African-American, which somewhat reflects the community. As the years went on and word of mouth increased, the diversity became greater as well. That was something that made the experience even better- having people from different backgrounds as part of the dojo. I made a lot of friends when I was naturally shy and when we were not learning martial arts, we were learning life lessons.

This is my personal experience, but i believe that many students feel the same way.
