I love Pizza, I mean love it. My favorite spot in NY was in Brooklyn, but they now have comp. Fresh crisp crust, fresh sauce, great toppings. RIDICULOUS! I am not Italian, nor have a I been to Italy, so I can not compare, but I love this place. I don't like fresh Mozz, like at Lombardi's anyway. Lombardi's is not as good as John's. The sauce does not match up. Lombardi's crust is good, salty at times, but good, but John's is the BOMB! Try it.

How the hell in our NYC days and many LATE nights on Bleecker have we missed this joint? I mean, it's been around forever and is a stone's throw from Peculiar Pub. And like Lombardi's (or vice versa), just whole pies - no slices, no credit cards, no kidding. This place also won Best Pizza on Citysearch 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2004. Come on you slackers, where've ya been the past few years? Don't get fat and lazy on us.

Walking into this place (after a slight wait) is like walking into the rathskeller...

This is the place to eat a casual meal in NY. Service was great and pizza was out of this world, thin,hot and without a doubt the best . You hear alot about other places being rude and poor quality food to us tourists but this is not the case at Johns.The food and service was so good we went back the following day and received the same great service and great pizza.We are now proudly wearing our Johns Pizzaria T-shirts and can't wait till our next vist to our new favorite pizza place.Don't forget to tip for good service and food because you will go back.

John's of Bleecker Street has been making pizza since 1929 and it is still going strong today judging by the number of persons who are already queueing up before 5 PM. This is a real honest-to-goodness genuine Italian pizza (and not at all resembling the Albanian pizza that are all over New York for those not in the know). John's makes its own red sauce and it is not salty or oily. It is made perfectly and you will come back for more, guaranteed.

This is a cash only business so be prepared. There is a cash machine inside if you forget.

Standing on line wasn't bad --as the people on line were fun to speak to. but once inside, the staff were arrogant and ego's were the size of the room. They were rude, didn't come back to service our table, and then acted like you were just in the factory assembly line of customers.
This is not good NY Italian pizza; don't be fooled by the reviews. Ashame!

They only really have pizza, some pasta, salad and beer, oh yeah, one type of calzone CHEESE; and its f**king hugeeeeee

Good stuff. We usually get half pepperoni and half meatball. Watch out for the line that starts outside-might want to get there a few min. early... def worth any wait...

My husband and I are cooking snobs...we are great cooks and love our pizza...we have traveled coast to coast trying pizza everywhere from very inexpensive to shamefully expensive pizza and THIS PIZZA IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't bother going anywhere else in NYC for pizza, go here, wait your turn and you'll be talking about it for a long, long time. I can't even begin to explain why or how...just try it!!!

I am spoiled to have parents who have a homemade brick oven in their backyard. Ever since my father started making pizza, no pizza place could compare. Pizza that I used to think was great had become subpar. I chose Johns of Bleecker because it was voted the best by several websites. It was excellent! The pizza is perfect. I had it with peppers and onions. It was so simple yet everything was flavored just right. I think the secret is the mild flavored sauce and the low moisture/sodium chesse. There was no trace of oil left behind on the plate. It was hands down, the best pizza I ever had!

This pizza place came up on several searches for the best slice in New York. The walls and windows were tiled with autographed headshots of many famous people, including Harry Connick Jr, Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow. The pizza was nice and thin, with a simple yet flavorful sauce. We also shared a salad with a nice vinegary dressing. I think the key to their whole menu was SIMPLE. It was rather crowded and with only one bathroom stall, it?s difficult to feel comfortable there.

I am very picky about my pizza and must say I've tried many and always seem to find myself dissapointed in the taste. This is definitely NOT the case with John's Pizza! I had read a review that mentioned how crowded dinner time was so we went about 3ish - too late for the lunch crowd and too early for the dinner crowd - perfect timing. The service was great - very friendly actually and the pizza was THE BEST! Much better than Lombardi's!!! I

This place is definitely worth seeing at some point. The whole feel of the restaurant is very cozy and cute. They have two big murals on the walls. One of the Blue Grotto in Capri, Italy and another of the Almalfi Coast. There are cozy booths with wooden carved initials everywhere and a dedication of newspaper prints from when Armstrong landed on the moon (which based upon the look of the photos and tape seem to have been up there since 1972). The feel is like an old Italian Pizza kitchen. Bob Dylan was playing when we were in there and gave a feel of old NYC. The pizza was delicious and so was the sauce. We ordered the salad which was a dissapointment bc the dressing was just red wine vinegar and a touch of olive oil. Pretty boring. The pizza was served on an old styled tin plate and the meatballs were as delicious as everyone says.
I am from NJ though and my family owns an Italian restaurant in NJ which is hard to compete with. I still think NJ has better pizza than NY but this is a great little place. There was no line when we went in but coming out there was at least an hour wait. I think my experience here would have been tainted if I had waited that long so thank goodness that I did not.
Def worth trying if you are in the city!

First off, any crust over 1/4th of an inch is not thin crust NY pizza it's Papa John's or worse. Add the ornery counter help and so-so taste and you have Bleeker Street Pizza.

The menu is extremely basic, but ANYTHING you get is awesome. The pizzas are cooked to perfection and all of their toppings are fresh. They make their own sausages and meatballs. I would advise ANYONE who is not a vegetarian to try a side order of the meatballs. They are huge and delicious.

Most of the servers have been working there for an extremely long time and they know their pizza. The service is fast and they know how to turn a table. You can expect a line on the weekend evenings, but it is worth the wait.

PS-

To the lazy person who needs their pizza delivered:

Johns of Bleecker Street does not deliver. They never have, and probably will not in the future. This person clearly did not order from Johns.

I ordered from John's of Bleecker Street tonight and waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for my food to arrive. I called John's of Bleecker Street multiple times and was told each time that the delivery man was '5 minutes away' or that he was even 'in the building'They refused to give my the food for free, nor even any sort of discount. I would not have paid for it but took pity on the delivery man who said that if I did not then he would have to pay himself. That is outrageous. Absolutely outrageous. Do not order food from them.

We went past a lot of pizza places on the way and heard people on the street talking about gave it a try absolute best were from westchester county and this was worth the trip looking forward to a return trip not too much sauce perfect amount of cheese and the best crust!!!!!

The Servers are friendly, The atmosphere is unique and authentic old school NY in the front, Vibrantly artistic in the back and the Pizza was out of this world. Unless you are willing to venture into Brooklyn, Johns is the very best pizza in NYC! The only problem are the long lines so I suggest you get there at about 4pm and you shouldnt have a problem!

John's Pizzeria is a must when you are in the city. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable, especially for the city. They offer pasta, sandwiches and obviously pizza. A fun fact about this restaurant is it used to be a church so the inside is beautiful.

if you are visiting new york for the first time and you are looking for good pizza well you can find it on just about any corner. if your looking for pizza that will make you want to travel hundreds of miles just to get a slice than check out johns! i discoverd johns after a fun spring afternoon in april 20th of 2005 in washington sq park. good times. needles to say it was the best pizza i had ever had and i continue to go back to this day and the food is what its all about. some people think pizza is pizza and thats fine but if your a foodie you gota check this place out. enjoy!

Well, i can't imagine what these clowns writing the bitter reviews of Johns' could be talking about.......
I have lived in The village for 38 years.... have been RAISED on this pizza......And although there are sooo many pizza joints in the neighbor hood ... who may be good .... Johns' of Bleecker street is the ABSOLUT E best ... EVER. ANYWHERE. Why do you think Johnny Depp , Danny Devito, Stephen Tyler and pretty much every other big name celebrity makes it a point to come to this place every time they are in new York city? These people have all the choices in the world..... they could BUY Johns' if they so desired... I Have fond memories of being a teenager and sitting at a table next to the Ramones , getting my picture taken with Joey and my waiter.... awesome. Yeah, the place is sometimes insanely busy. (for a reason) , sure the waiters may be a little rough around the edges at times...... because they are extremely busy......... but let me tell ya' If you're nice to these guys they are nice right back......... and honestly all i've seen in recent years is the place actualy getting BETTER and BETTER if that's even possible....... KEEP IT UP JOHNS OF BLEECKER STREET! Customer for life..........

Seriously, i came on a Tuesday morning just as this place opened and was seated in a window seat in the rear room.........the art back there is incredible....... apparently this place does alot to help promote and support local artists........ very cool..... I ordered a glass of Red... Salvalai Montepulciano i think, at the reccomendation of waiter Benjamin..... Such a nice guy...... i had a salad ..... fresh and delicious, with some of the most addictive house dressing i've ever had..... honestly i can still feel the garlic.:) I ordered a small pie with mushroom and garlic...(more garlic) ... ....when it came out , at first i thought bthere was a mistake, because the small pie is pretty LARGE...... but after clearing that up........ MY GOD..... this pizza was just the best thing i've every had in my mouth............ charred, crisp crust, Mushrooms so freash, i feel they must grow them out back, and OH! the gresh chopped garlic!!! i actualy finnished the whole thing......... crust and all.... then had a pint of Siera nevada......... well , my vacation could have ended right then and i could have gone back to Cali a happy man........ but nope.. i still had a week in New York...... and i went back to this place THREE times.......... even at night when the place was rockin' beyond beliefe........ with cool music i might add...... this place was still amazing................ noisy but amazing!!! yup.

I am English and have lived in NY for 4 years. On 6/24/07 - I took a visiting Norwegian friend to this establishment , on "high recommendation" from a guest at an afternoon wedding we had just attended. There was no line outside the door (PLUS we didn't know you had to line up OUTSIDE) - we stood inside the door for over 10 minutes - no-one came up to seat us.... as we were nearby an empty table... we sat down and waited for the waiter... BIG MISTAKE. After a further 10 minutes - a "waiter" came up to us. On realising that we were ready to order and had not just finished our pizza - he started yelling at us telling us that we cannot just come in and sit-down and we have to wait outside in the street until he comes to tell us we can now enter, etc, etc, etc,.... and "insisted" that we leave the premises and go and stand outside in the "line".... the "line" that was not there when we came in. Needless to say, yes, we did leave... no, we didn't stand in the line in the street and, no, I will never embarrass myself or any European/Scandinavian visitor by ever going there again. If this is the "best" pizza place in New York, I certainly don't want to see the worse. You can stick your 'best in NY pizza" where the sun doesn't shine!!!

Tell me about it.. my friend from NY told me to make sure to eat there before leaving. Man, what a huge disappointment.

There was a short line outside and we got inside in about 5 minutes or so. Atmosphere was okay. Not sure why everyone raves about the atmosphere. It's new york. Every corner of the street has atmosphere. Photos and autographs on the wall does not automatically make this restaurant great. If you are into having your photo taken with a picture of a celebrity beside you and you want to tell your friends you went there, okay fine.

Sodas were flat. Service was about okay.

Pizza got cold quick. Crust was fine. Toppings were terrible. I thought Costco pizza tasted better. I am absolutely telling you the truth there. We couldnt finish half of our 14" pizza (2 of us) and I had to chuck the rest outside the restaurant. Meat toppings and more meat toppings. That's all you're going to get there. 50 varieties of meat pizzas. Man you would think they could put some veggies in some.

Just TERRIBLE TERRIBLE tasting pizza. Both of us had to force ourself to eat more than 1 slice just to get our money's worth.

Seriously people.. forget the hype and do more research. We went to the one on Bleeker. It's going to go down hill from here.

Our visit was on May 15, I was with a small group of family from outside of America and we were all anticipating some of the best pizza we've ever had. We arrived about 3 in the afternoon when the place was quite empty and found that although the temperature outside was pleasant the interior of the restaurant was stiffling. I ask the waiter to turn on the AC and was shocked that he indicated with a head movement NO. No word of explaination !

Although uncomfortable we placed our order for pizzas and a salad, eagerly awaiting justification for remaining in the restaurant. To a person we were all highly disappointed with the pizzas. They were not served hot, hard to understand since we were nearly the only customers & there should be no reason for the pizzas to sit around between removal from the oven and being brought to the table. The toppings on the pizzas were sparse, a few slices on onion, sausage, meatball. The usual condiments of cheese & spices were not on the table and the waiter had disappeared. We had to take from another table by ourselves The order of salad was to include a "Basket of Bread" which was not brought with the salad. After several minutes when the waiter returned we ask for it, he brought out a basket with 3 pieces of cold bread and one slab of butter. I find it difficult to think that this was the "Basket of Bread" which the menu intended.

So far there is poor service and disappointing food. Now comes the bill where there were 3 errors ! We were charged for toppings on half a pizza which were not ordered, there was a mistake in the math adding one dollar to the bill and the tax was rounded up to nearest half dollar. Being totally disgusted I deducted these errors from the tip leaving what would be over 20% had the bill been correct. To my amazement the waiter had the nerve to come out of the restaurant into the street and attempt to lecture me on how New Yorkers should tip. All in all a place not to be recommended.

A friend and I went in for a pie before dinner rush, so the place wasn't crowded or very busy. The waiter came to take our order and seemed nice enough until I declined to order a salad to share with a polite "no thank you." After that he became huffy, grabbed the menu and left. I didn't realize that they donate $ to a brain tumor charity for every salad ordered until he left, but he could have pointed out the charity to me or explained how ordering a salad was for a good cause.

When we were ready for the check NONE of the wait staff would look in our direction. I even waved my hand to get the waiter's attention, but they steadfastly looked anywhere but at the customers. I finally had to literally grab a passing waiter and ask for the check, but before I could ask him to wrap the remaining slices, he ran off!! I turned for a second to get my wallet out and when I turned back around, the check was sitting on one of our grease filled plates and the waiter was off and running again.

I sat waiting for a waiter to take my money so I could get change for a tip, but again, none of them would look directly at me. When I finally did make eye contact with one and made a gesture to ask for change, he just stared at me with a nasty look on his face. I finally got my slices wrapped (after tackling another running waiter), but still no change or even an oppurtunity to ask for change! The guy I asked to wrap our slices ran off AGAIN without acknowledging my request! I decided they weren't worth a good tip anyway, left exact change on the table and just left.

As for the pizza: we ordered a half meatball and half pepperoni pie. The meatballs were tasteless bits of mystery meat! The pepperoni was much better; crisp on the edges from the oven and the crust was nice and thin. Overall though, not worth the hype. As a native New Yorker, I would rather get a slice down the block than ever go back to John's. The wait staff needs lessons in customer service.

So what right does a guy from Texas have in rating NYC pizza? I don't really have a good answer for that one. I can tell you this I grew up spending Christmases in Conn. and learned real quick that great pizza came from the north east. This pizza is what pizza should be,a thin crisp crust, a tomato sauce that has a rich taste and toppings that stand out on their own. I have gone to NYC with friends over the years and always had them grab a slice at Rays and the likes- then after a day I take them to Johns and just watch their faces as they take that first bite. Folks this is great pizza at its best - plane and simple.

I have eaten at John's pizzaria many times since 1999 and the taste of the pizza has dramatically changed . Me and my girlfriend went to John's expecting a great coal oven pie and were very dissappointed . My girlfriend should know pizza with her growing up in a pizzaria and both of us being italian. To the tourist and americanized italians this pie must be great but to true italian americans this pizza had no taste!. The crust and sauce was bland . If you want to enjoy a real coal oven pie skip John's and Grimadis which are overated and eat at Lomabardi's . If your from booklyn and can't make it out to Ny city for a good pie eat at Europa's for brick oven its much better then John's.

I was here a week ago for the first time- came based on the ratings here. I ordered a pizza with mushrooms, onions, and sausage. The toppings were alright, but the pizza was a little soggy. Maybe I'm not the best critic of thin crust pizza since I normally prefer an average density crust that allows for a maximum load of stringy mozarella. I didn't get much cheese so a thumbs-down for that. The ambiance could be better- it's got a stodgy lodge feel to it, which is bizarre for a pizza place.

My husband and I happened to stumble into John's one afternoon while on vacation in NYC. We didn't even realize that it was so well regarded. We got the most intimate little booth in the middle of the afternoon and ordered Sam Adams, on tap. Yum. When the pizza came, we knew we would be there all afternoon. We spent three hours in John's! Wow. The pizza was over the top good and the service was great. We were never rushed out! I highly recommend this place, but if possible, come during the off hours.

This is great pizza -- nothing fabulous or particularly original, but satisfying, even mouthwatering slices and a pretty cool joint to boot make this place one that I would definitely return to again and again.
Besides, with all the average and below average pizza you can find in NYC, it's nice to have a good place to go to hang out, have a slice and a beer with some friends and actually enjoy what you eat.

I've tried different pizza places coast to coast, and John's on Bleeker is undoubtedly the best pizza I have ever eaten. The seating area is crammed and dim, and the staff are not very personal, all of which make it an authentic NYC pizzaria. The white pizza was amazing, and the pepperoni on our other pizza was fantastic. The crust was perfectly crispy and chewy with a subtle charred taste. The cheese was fresh and flavorful, unlike the rubbery and slimy cheese found on most pizzas. My friends and I are still awaiting our next trip to NYC to go there again.

After several trips to Italy and after years of eating my Nona's pizza I can honestly say that this is truely the best pizza I have had outside of Italy. Very authentic true Italian Pizza, with the best ingreedants. Fortunatly it is just a few blocks away from my house, because they don't deliver. When I have out of town guests I always take them here, and they always want to go back for more. Simply the best!

Whoever wrote that this pizza is a good pizza, he/she has never been in Italy and knows anything about pizza. Pizza you find in New York City is far from being even close to the real one, especially the one you find in here. Is that so difficult to find a good pizza abroad? OF COURSE IT IS!!! Pizza is an Italian culture matter...its ingredients come directly from Italy's earth. basil, tomato, mozzarella, and all the other ingredients are rich, natural, tasty. Those products taste thousands and thousand times different than local products I mean, after all these years spent through those enormous "dead" pizza slices you find everywhere around town, when you go to Italy just buy a slice anywhere you are and you'll see the difference. at least you'll taste it.

Every one of our Eat Clubbers said GREAT PIZZA! Maybe the best in Manhattan. We finished two large ones between the 6 of us. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were all afraid to try the Pumpkin Beer, but other than that, we got THE WORKS. No reservations, so you have to wait on line... bring a book. They also have various other entrees including Chicken Parmesean Hero and the Cheese Manicotti. If you are a pizza enthusiast this is definitely the place for you. John's Pizza has to be THE BEST pizza in NY...Thin, crispy crust...just perfect! You can either sit down or take-out. I'd recommend sitting down at a booth, you can read through all the "graffiti" carved and written on the walls, tables, etc ... Best Pizza by far!!! Don't forget to stop by next door, at Cones, for some great dessert!

Went to John's while visiting NYC. Actually saw the pizzia joint on a Pizza documentary on the Food Network. The show said it was one of the best that NYC had to offer and they were right. Great atmosphere, great service, great pizza. Can't wait to get back there for another pie!!!!!!

Went last night due to City Search Rating. People who rate ii so high must not originally be from NYC. I am an Italian from Bensonhurst, Bklyn and know a good pizza and John's does not cut it! Ordered a Sausage/Meatball/Mushrooms, result was dry sauceless pizza with plastic type mozzerella. Unable to distinguish between sausage slices and meatball slices which were both void of any flavor. Best Pizza anywhere, Lombardi's. Sweet sauce lased with fresh basil, Fresh Mozerella, Home made whole meatballs and sausage chunks- BEST ANYWHERE!

This NYC native moved out of the neighborhood years ago and hadn't been to John's in a long time. I recently found my self dwon town and couldn't resist it! I'm so glad I went in. John's still has the best pizza in all of NYC. The best chared crisp crust, tangy sauce and some of the best sausage I have ever tasted. This place reminds me of Naples. Go and order a small pie with sausage and mushrooms, when hungry you could probably finiish the whole pie!!! John's Rocks!!!!

This place probably has some of the worst pizza and service in the city. I just don't understand the hype. the last time I was there it seemed to draw a lot of tourists and a large bridge and tunnel crowd. Maybe that's how they stay in business. A lot of one-timmers from out of town.

Lombardi's is better. Even Arturos. The best seems to be Nick's in Forest Hills. It's worth the trek.

Unlike others here, I didn't have to wait. After a trip to the Blind Tiger (a great beer bar on Hudson) what better than some good pizza? Been wanting to try John's for a while now. The pizza was very good... hot and delicious. The sauce was tangy and excellent in every way. There was a bit too much cheese for my taste. I do believe that the coal oven adds a very unique taste which I love.

I had high hopes, but honestly Totonno's (the original Coney Island location) still takes the crown. I am going to try Lombardi's next. Whatever you do, you really can't go wrong with coal oven pizza in New York City! John's is a nice place if you are in the neighborhood... but if you are a pizza connoisseur, check out the original Totonno's on Neptune Ave in Coney Island!

I ate here for lunch today and was not impressed by the place or the food. The pizza was OK and the service was non-existent (after you place your order, that is). I would've been really pissed if we had had to wait for a table. The bottom of the pizza crust was soft; not something you'd expect from a place prides itself on brick oven pizza. This place is a distant third to Lombardi's and Arturo's. Try those places first.

The pizza here is incredibly inconsistent. The only time I had a decent pie is when it came topped with anchovies. Otherwise, often the crust is soggy - a big no no for real pizza lovers, and the taste bland. The last time I came i didn't even finish my pie - and then I went across the street to Joe's for a slice to satisfy my pizza craving. I have NO IDEA why this place has a following. I went to Johns because it is so well reviewed, the same reason I'd gone to Grimalde's. The difference being that Grimalde's tastes GREAT, and John's tastes BAD. The service was good, better than Grimalde's and I liked the vibe of the place. However, the great service, and a good vibe can't offset how horrible the pizza there was. I two main problems with it: 1) the cheese. Their cheese was not "fresh mozzarella" it was "mozzarella" and it was probably fresh, but that's not the same. The type of cheese they use at John's is no different from the cheese used at any run-of-the-mill pizza by the slice place. And there's too much of it on top of such thin crust, making the proportions wrong. 2) Poor craftsmanship. Some slices had almost no toppings and others had far too much. The sauce, while good, was equally poorly distributed.

Don't be fooled by the name. Come here for great pizza, but not for anything else. Aside from pizza, menu is limited. Very high ceiling (it's a former church) creates sense of openess (a nice change from the congested nature of nyc), but increases noise.

I wouldn't say John's is the best in the world, as their popularity incease, their quality is slipping a bit over the years (go to Totonno's in Coney Island to experience that!), but you have to put them right up there among the top!

You simply can't ignore a great pie of John's pizza, and a picture of beer as probably one of the all time great New York gastronomical experiences! Being on Bleeker St. also helps!

The fresh ingrediants, that great sweet sauce! I'm getting hungry already.

I've eaten here twice (you can't judge a place on a single pie), and I had black olives the first time, regular cheese the next. The cheese, sauce, and bread aren't special. The olives were delish, though, and that's been tough to find in the city. Famous for the pictures of Robert Deniro in the window. Crowded. People were drinking red wine with their pizzas. Please. The pizza was terrific. The service was the worst I've ever had. We were given no napkins and had to ask 3 times before getting them. When server brought tab, we found out why service was so bad. Groups of 5 or more had tip automatically added. (We were a group of 6). I'd go back for the pizza, but would make sure it was a smaller group.

Yeah there is a wait out the door of this old school family owned pizzaria, but they get you in and out...and when you walk out you feel satisfied because the pizza and food is great and the prices are right. I had to try this since I live in San Diego, Ca. and I don't think I ever really had a real and true pizza. I believe I have now. This is the best I've ever tasted in my life. I watched them make it and it appeared that the sauce went on last and just a little was put on, but damm it sure tasted good. It is definitly the cheese which tasted really fresh and the sauce has a distinct flavor to it. Whatever it is it's great and I highly recommend it to everyone who loves pizza.

This pizza is overrated. Here I thought this would be my last stop in looking for the best pizza in NYC and yet the search goes on after a stop here.

Best non-greasy pizza in town! Good place for groups, since they don't sell it by the slice. Sandwiches are great too!

John's pizza uses only the freshest ingredience and is prepared and baked with great attention and pride in the tradition it's won its reputation by. If you're a 'thin' crust person this is the place to come. Friendly and attitive service along with resonable prices makes this a wonder dining experience! Don't expect much in the way of decor

Being a New Yorker trapped in the Boston area, I am constantly craving really great pizza. Whenever I get to Manhattan for a reality check, I always make it a point to go to John's Pizza on Bleeker Street. I am never disappointed, and it helps me get through until I can visit again. Go Yankees....Red Sox Suck!!

I have been to John`s Pizzeria several times, and it is the best pizza I have ever tasted. Everything is so fresh; we can watch them make the pizza which is a visual treat; the decor is beautiful; the service is grand! John`s Pizzeria is the BEST!!!!

No doubts, John's the best!!!!!
Always fast, great pizza and great service.
Being Italian and coming from the Land of Pizza I think I have enough experience to say it.

Just one thing..take that "spaghetti with meatballs" out of the menu....no real italian would ever dare to have spaghetti with meatballs!!!!!

There are few pizzeria's these days that offer consistent quality of their food-especially for pizza. To my knowledge, I have never spoken to anyone who has ever eaten at John's on an "off-day". With numerous options and continuously good service, John's Pizzeria rises above the competition in every way.

I moved to NYC about a year and a half ago and based on the 'hype' I took some out of town friends there. Talk about a disappointment! The pizza could not have been more average; on par with your corner pizza place. If you're going to go out of your way for especially good Za, go to 2 boots.

The first time I was there I saw an open table barged through a line of people standing for a table and sat down, it looked as though no one had been there. This rude NY waiter told me to leave the table for it had been reserved for Frank Sinatra, as it had been for the several years. I left the table and stood in line with evertone else for almost an hour, it was worth it. That happened 15 years ago and each time I return to NY I make a point to dine at this Pizza parlor, for it's the best.

I am originally from California and while most NYC pizza takes some getting used to, I must admit that John's Pizzeria just clicked with my tastebuds. It's very different from Cali Pizza and makes me never want to leave NY. All NY Pizza should taste as good as this. I take all my visitors there!!!

Being Italian (pizza's native country) I can tell that John's offers an american style pizza but with italian tomato sauce and little oil. Evene if differnet from real italian pizza I might say it is pretty good. And the ambience of the locations are friendly.

Once you get seated, your order comes even before you have ordered (or so it seems). A large pizza, one house salad, and two sodas or beers are enough for two people to be sated all evening.

John's Pizzeria continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan. I've lived in and around NYC for over 20 years and there is no better pizza. Thin crust pizza, never soggy, always fabulous. Atmosphere isn't much, but you don't come here to be seen. Eat up and enjoy!

This place has too much hype. I went here after reading all the good reviews. I ordered a large pizza w/ pepperoni and onions. When i took a bite out of it, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. It was just like any other pizza parlors i've been to before. I'm not saying that the food was bad but it wasn't anything spectacular.

Decent pizza...but try adding some tomatoe sauce next time. Lack of tomatoe sauce seems to be the theme among NYC pizza joints.

Since I was a little Chelsea toddler, I've loved John's. With a perfect thin, crisp crust and plentiful helpings of fresh, delicious toppings, it's not just New York's, but possibly the world's best. To say nothing of the trademark sheet-o-cheese, which far surpasses the dot-o-mozz approach embraced elsewhere. One question: why is the jukebox always playing "That's Amore"?
