.

I have used different Uhauls throughout the city on numerous occasions and have never had a problem. This Uhaul has to be the worst location in the city. I made a reservation for a 14 foot truck, two weeks in advance, with a credit card, for a move from my old apartment to a new one. The confirmation was emailed to me. The morning of the move, when we arrived at the location, we were told that the person who rented the truck the previous day had not returned. When we informed the woman that we made a reservation, with a credit card, and my move was scheduled from 9am to 1pm, she said she was sorry, but could do nothing about it. She said we could have a 10 foot truck, which we believed was too small and would make the move more difficult. We were repeatedly told that nothing could be done. When we asked what the point was of a reservation, if there was no truck available, no satisfactory explanation was given. There happened to be another 14 foot truck in the lot. When we asked for that one, we were told it was reserved and could not be used by us! When we asked why we were not notified the night before, no one could answer our questions. The clerk actually left us in the office and walked away for approximately 10 minutes, apparently hoping we would leave! After much screaming and arguing, the clerk gave us the 14 foot truck that was in the parking lot if we promised to return it by 1pm for its next reservation. When we arrived at 1:30 pm, and asked where our original truck was, we were told it never made it!!! Had there not been an extra truck there, and had we not complained so vociferously, we would have been left with no way to move our things. It is disgraceful that such a thing occurred, and that no one notified us in advance so we could make alternate arrangements. We were not told until 9 am, when the store opened, and basically told, "so sad, too bad." This is not the way to deal with customers, particularly during such an already stressful time: a big move. As a pregnant mother with a three year child, our move had to be timed perfectly, and finished promptly; this was not the move of a pair of college roommates with only a few items. The fact that we had to add on this horrible experience to an already stressfull and difficult day was too much for us to bear. As a result, we will NEVER use Uhaul again and I will make sure to send my complaints to higher ups in the company, and post my complaints on the internet as well. No one should have to deal with what we went through on June 30, 2010.
