TERRIBLE BUSINESS! The OWNER of York Furniture Gallery, tricked us into placing a deposit on a couch (to hold a sale price) by telling us that it's not a binding contract and we didn't have to buy the couch. He LIED and said if we didn't end up wanting the couch we could get our deposit back. Well....I bet you can guess what happened next! Now that we don't want to order the couch, ALL SALES ARE FINAL! - Yes even though we didn't buy anything! So they have our money and we have nothing...sounds criminal doesn't it?....like a scam? Wonder if anything can be done legally to stop them from ripping people off????

Stay Away. Bought couch alittle over a yr ago. Cushings are almost flat. Im not a heavy guy either. I have contacted them numerous times with ZERO resolution. Terrible service. Would never go back

Over the last year, I have made several separate purchases at York Furniture Gallery, and have been extremely satisfied with every aspect of my transactions: the knowledgeable and friendly sales people, the quality and affordability of the furniture, the timely delivery, the friendly and professional delivery people. I plan to go back soon and I am relieved to know that I have a store I can trust when buying furniture.

Stay away. We purchased a couch and loveseat there because the manager had some "rebates" that expired that same day so we thought we were getting a great deal. He told us it was in the back and we could get it delivered anytime. We pushed the delivery out 3 weeks to give us time to prepare the room. 2 weeks later we called to change the delivery date and he said he had to order it. The delivery date was the same and we were told to fill out the warranty (we purchased the extended warranty). In the store, he told us it covers anything and everything for 10 years!! After reading it, it's all double talk. Up top it says it covers pet and human stains, in the tiny print it doesn't cover pet feces, human body and hair oils or human persperation.
The delivery date came, the delivery guys were VERY nice but it was the wrong color and model. We went to the store and the manager just blew us off. He didn't want to talk to us, he just kept saying he can't do anything until Monday. The furniture had Ashley tags on it. I went to Ashley and they told us that model/color has been discountinued. Then I knew I wasn't getting something new, I was getting something old that was sitting around.
Monday came and I talked to the manager. He kept telling me that he wasn't going to find anything out until the next day. Then he was VERY rude and yelled at me saying I was threatening him because I was telling him I was contemplating cancelling my order. He said the order was uncancellable. Then I went to the store and was arguing with him. The contract states that if you don't get what you ordered by the latest date, then you can get a refund. Since we didn't get the furniture we wanted by that date, the contract should be void. He threatened to call the police on me because it was his private store on his private land and I'd be trespassing. Finally, I got him to agree to sign the contract stating if he couldn't get the exact furniture we ordered by the following week, to cancel the order. Of course since it's discontinued, he couldn't get it so our order was cancelled.
I'm a pretty soft spoken/easy going guy and I've never had a sales guy yell and threaten me like he did...and he's the owner of the store. Check the BBB, the store has an awful rating.
Lastly, when the movers came to take away the furniture, they damaged a hand rail going down the stairs, scraped the paint right off of it. I have finally got my money back but it took alot of energy/effort.
I'm sure there's many success stories and people usually only write the bad but I've heard other bad stories about this place so be careful and shop around.

We bought a sofa and chair from York, and the manager, Larry Bell, was our sales rep. He pushed the sale onto us, and convinced us to buy a chair that "matches perfectly". Upon receipt of the items we found that the sofa was badly damaged, and the chair did not match. When reported, Larry simply told us that there was "nothing I can do to help you", and insisted that the chair was the exact same color. It took about 40 irate phone calls to get another rep to our place to acknowledge that the chair did not match what-so-ever. After this was found out, it took about 10 more phone calls to get them to take the chair back. When we were in the store to sign return paperwork, another customer was in line ahead of us, and had the EXACT same situation with the EXACT same sales rep. If you value your hard-earned dollar you will find somewhere else to furnish your space.

Terrible business! You will have a friendly sales person who will mis-inform you, push the sale with out you knowing all of the details. You will buy a set that you think is NEW, but you will receive a FLOOR MODEL. When you tell them that the set is damaged, they will tell you "That's what you get when you buy the floor model." When you say that you did not buy a floor model, they will say, we sell our FLOOR MODELS as NEW. It's in our contract! Your set will be FINAL SALE and regardless of whether you are happy with what you receive off the truck, that is what you get! Oh, unless Mark the repair guy "the guy who can fix anything" can come out and try to fix it...but when it's un-repairable, you are just screwed. You will not be satisfied with anything from this place. The damaged furniture and service you receive after the sale are HORRIBLE!!!! The manager Larry Bell is the worst! He does not care if you are happy with your purchase.

Bad sums it up, can't improve on that - But York could improve on their communication and business practices. To be that angry as a group you really have to ask yourself what is really going on there. Maybe instead of getting angry at customers they should learn from their mistakes and become a business to be proud of.

Very friendly people... until you sign the paperwork. Don't expect any service. Expect low quality furniture. Expect big delays in delivery. Expect dents on your furniture upon the delivery. Expect almost hostile response when you call about all of the above concerns. Expect no resolution to your grievances.

After searching all over the area for a family room sofa we finally found what we wanted at York at a reasonable price. The quality is top notch and the selection was excellent. The staff stayed well past closing during our initial visit and there was no pressure to make a sale. i will return next time I need a piece of furniture.
