Dr. Campanile helped our family find its first pet 18 years ago. She was a miniature poodle, and brought our family much joy. Under Dr. Campanile's care for her entire life, our dog lived 18 amazing years. We strongly believe that had it not been for having such a smart and caring veterinarian, our dog would not have lived for as many years as she did.

Without hesitation, I recommend this vet to all pet owners in the neighborhood.

Brought my dog to Dr. Campanile, and he was misdiagnosed and died. Was told that the dog had a thyroid problem, and was anemic and have arthritis. 3 weeks late my dog became worst. I took him to the emergency hospital and it turn out that the dog had a tumor in his spleen and internal bleeding the dog died 2 days later. Had Dr Campanile gave us the right notice we could have seek medical treatment sooner. We are suing him for the unnecessary expenses we had including the misdiagnose bill.

I have to start by saying I began going here with my first dog. Dr. Campanile and Dr. Locheck (not sure of spelling) were my dogs vets from time I adopted him. He was a very healthy wonderful dog. I had brought my dog here for all shots and any issues that might have arose like ear infections or mystery limps. Both doctors were very nice and efficient. My dog was over all a healthy dog and lived a long life. The reason for my negative review is when I actually had an emergency and I called MY VETS OFFICE they were still open for about 30 mins and the front desk help informed me I needed to go someplace else that they were about to close. Now mind you my emergency was very serious. My dog had a major seizures and within a week needed to be put to sleep at the age of 14 due to brain tumors. I will never return to a place that when I NEEDED them they turned a patient of 14 years in a EMERGENCY away. I have a new puppy after a few months of healing and grieving and WILL NOT returning here again.

I've used Dr. Campanile as my dogs/cats vet for many years, all good. Actually his brother (now in Arizona) was my pets vet from the time I was 16 years old so you could say I've been with the family for 31 years now, lol.

Yes, there have been some terribly sad times but most importantly he's been an amazing health professional to my dogs/cats and truly a rock for me. He's NEVER steered me wrong and he treats my dogs/cats like he would his own. I truly believe that. First and foremost the animals have come first.

His staff is, by the way, exemplary!

I would like to thank Dr. Camponile and his staff for all of their services during the treatment and eventual euthanasia of my Rottweiler Turk. Dr. Camponile was very professional and offered the best care and advice I have ever received. I had to make tough decisions and his support and guidance was crucial to the the quality of life for my dog. With Dr. Camponile's guidance my dog received the care he needed and did not suffer in the end when no other options were left. Most importantly, Dr. Camponile is caring and his love for animals is evident in his work. He was even kind enough to send flowers to my home after the death of my dog.

I'm not one to write reviews but I was so pleased with this place that I just had to. My little yorkie was recently hit by a car, he seemed ok except for a little limping and being calmer then usual, out of precaution I decided to take him to a vet and was referred to this one. I must say this is one of the pleasantest experiece I've had at a doctors office. The place was clean, the staff wonderful and courteous. At firs I was scolded a little by Dr. Locheck for waitin 3 days to bring my puppy in and for being negligent enough to let him off the leash but then I noticed his interaction with my puppy and how concerned and caring he was. Thank God except for a little soreness my puppy was fine and I walked out smiling.
I would recommend this place and Dr. Locheck to everyone . Now I know this is the place for me whenever I need a vet.

I cannot begin to express my total appreciation to Dr. Campanile of Animal Hospital of Brooklyn regarding the care of my pets. I have several dogs and cats and whenever I have consulted him or gone to his office for care, he has always been wonderful, caring and most of all correct in his diagnosis and treatment of my animals. His fees are far below other veternarians I have been to and he readily gave telephone advice free of charge. As a long time pet owner who has been to probably many veternarians in NYS and some in Pennsylvania, I consider him to be one of the best.

Brought my dog to Dr. Campanile, and he was misdiagnosed and died. Told me the problem was a minor one when in fact it was serious. Made us go back several times for more tests, more meds, all the while making us think it was a minor problem and making us spend more and more money. The Dr. never even said he was sorry or anything. You would think maybe he or someone in the office would have called or something at least. It's not the first time my pets were not diagnosed correctly. I should have learned from my mistake the first time, but I hate to change doctors. Well this time we are changing. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with the rude people working the front desk anymore either. There is an older lady who is so rude and if she ever smiled I think her face would crack, and there is another guy that barely speaks English and you can't understand him over the phone. So glad I'm moving on.

The people in the canarsie and mill basin area all go to Dr. John Campanille and he is so kind and caring to the animals. If a dog has an operation he even calls the family to find out how the pet is doing. He also doesnt try to just take you for all of the money. This place definitely has heart. Dr. Campanille cares and I recommend him highly.

Dr. John Campanile has taken care of our dogs for over 12 years. He is a wonderful, compassionate, knowledgeable and caring doctor. He has all the qualities of a good Vet. He loves and cares for the animals while having a great relationship with the people who love them. He is patient, kind and answers all questions. He never rushes you out. He makes each person feel that his or her pet is special. He will do his best to keep your animal healthy and alive as long as possible. He helped our Cairn Terrier named Toto live to almost 19 years. He is always there for you, a shoulder to cry on in times of grief, a friend to greet your new puppy or kitten. He also assists people who have a stray animal or who work in animal rescue as we do. I recommend all my animal lover friends to John. If by any chance Dr. John is out for the day his other Vet, Dr. Aaron Lochak is a very good stand in. He is friendly and very experienced and knowledgeable. You can never go wrong if he is on duty.

There are two veterinarians there. Dr. Locheck and Dr. Camponile. Dr. Camponile owns the business. I've used them for many years and I've never been disappointed.

Dr. Camponile is a brilliant vet, better than I could have ever hoped for. I brought him a cat with liver functions going critical and he patched her up with simple milk thistle. At every turn, if there is an answer to a problem, be it traditional or alternative medicine, he knows it. He has a sharp mind and a healer's touch. I only wish I could get the kind of care from my doctor that my cats get from Dr. Camponile.

Dr. Locheck is a good vet, who suffers mostly from comparison to Dr. Camponile. He's caring, and hard working and brings innovations and ideas to the hospital. He has an encyclopedic knowledge, and will offer a half-dozen answers to every problem, along with a full explanation of the pros and cons of each option, but he lacks Dr. Camponile's instinct to just jump to the right answer.

If the choice remains we me, I will never bring my pets anywhere else.

Dr. John Campanile and his staff are by far the most friendly, caring professionals I have ever had the pleasure to know. Their personal attention, demonstrated over my more than 13 years of experience with them, is second to NONE

We've been to see Dr. John about 4 times now. The outside of the hospital is always clean, the staff are very friendly, yet professional. They've taken care to numb down the "animal" smell inside & there are magazines galore to occupy your time, or you can spend it chatting with other prospective "animal clients" and their owners. It's always nice to see other pet owners and know you're not alone in caring.
Expect to wait even if you have an appointment. No more than 10-15 min though. I would like to think that's because he's going over the pet file/files. Dr. John is very nice and does a thorough exam. We have two cats that go for quarterly checkups and they've needed treatment for a case of ear mites; he has a gentle touch with them. So, no psychotic howling on their part at all. The prices are reasonable, though some of the drugs prescribed can be purchased cheaper on the internet.

PROS: Clean practice, friendly staff, no funky smells
CONS: 10-15 minute wait even with appointment

I didn't have such a good experience at this veterinary hospital. I took my dog in because he was shaking his head a lot, and the doctor said he had an ear infection. He gave me drops to put in and I thought all would be fine. Soon he was holding his head to one side and seemed to be getting worse. I took him in again, and this time the doctor took X-rays, and it turned out to be a tumor in the ear canal! I don't understand why he didn't catch this the first time. Soon I had to put him to sleep. Maybe it was an honest mistake, but maybe the doctor should have taken X-rays in the first place.
