Having contracted out with Empress carpets on Vet's Hwy in Bohemia, we were promised our cabinet, raised panel doors and granite counter top before Christmas. The installers had only the granite top at which time they cut the outlet holes (3) off by 1/2" and the 4th one, upside down with the hole 3 1/2 " off. The counter was measured and cut short so we had to order a smaller 4 drawer cabinet. Installers damaged corner wall and put holes in wall and ceiling. In Jan., their 2nd visit, they sent an open cabinet instead of 4 dr. cab. and all of the raised panels had been measured wrong. In Feb. 3rd visit, 1/2 of the raised panels were wrong size again. The 4th outlet had to be screwed below electric box and plate cannot be screwed in at all. Made 8-10 phone calls to store and told "we'll take care of it" but they told us the ceiling, wall and corner damages not their responsibility to repair, though damaged by them; "those things are expected" yet initially they said, "all would be fixed' Meanwhile, granite counter top; claimed by owner, to have been treated, has water, and other liquid stains that won't go away. We've had experts tell us that, counter wouldn't stain had it been properly sealed. They won't replace the backsplash with the miscut outlet hole, hence, we cannot secure a plate over the outlet. Empress refuses to come look at the stain problems and we are now approaching March and still no raised panel doors. Tryin to get the owner on the phone is impossible. Craig never returns phone calls.

Cons: will not stand up to their product.

FYI... Empress Carpet & Furniture's dba (doing business as) King's Furniture Incorporated. I'm providing this info for when you have to sue them (note I say 'when', not 'if'), you have this added information.

Craig, the owner, needs to step up to the plate and do as he promised his customers. I originally spent over $5000 with empress years ago, and when he screwed on my recent order he promised I would receive my $300 deposit back. (The subcontracted installer also damaged personal property and did not accomplish anything because they purposely brought the wrong carpet in which I had no choice but to refuse). After all that, still he jerked me around for months!

Craig (the owner), should be a real man. Craig spends tons of time working on his muscles... he should be working on his brain power instead. Don't be a wimp Craig... provide your customers with the service and excellence they deserve. Do not fall back on your promises- however empty they may be. This is how you lose both respect and customers. The court date is set... and is wasting everyone's time... over a measly $300 dollars, which was (and still is) originally promised back to my credit card. The point now is not the money... it's the principle - do what you said you were going to do - and provide the proof. (My credit card company is still charging me and there is nothing I can do about it on my end). Anyone who runs a reputable and decent company, and had a former loyal customer spend thousands of dollars would not stress the situation over $300 dollars. Any company that does to us hard working and fine citizens deserves to go out of business.

If I save one person the aggravation, hassle, and headache in dealing with such an incompetent company, then this is all worth it. Do yourself a favor, don't even waste your time with this company, because that's exactly what it is - a waste. I am a real [former] customer. I can not begin to tell you the headache, the drama, the insult, the inconvenience, and the disrespect that all have ensued over this one company and this one man's incompetence.

Thank God. Empress Carpet Furniture in Bohemia NY run by con-artist and all around dishonest business owner Craig Marino is finally going out of business. It just goes to show you that if you keep screwing innocent and hard-working people around long enough, you run out of people to screw around. Craig, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Thanks to everyone who supported getting rid of foul and dishonest businesses and business owners like Craig Marino of Empress Carpet Furniture located in Bohemia NY out of our neighborhood. Party On!!!

I've passed by many times, and when I needed carpeting, I figured this would be a good place to start looking plus being a liquidator (supposedly), perhaps get a good deal. I took the dimensions of the room with me, knew the exact kind of style of carpet I was looking for, and was ready to purchase. I immediately got a sense of "non-interest" in helping my needs from the sales associate, and when I asked for help, it seemed like I was bothering him or even a burden to him. When I finally got a price, it was much higher I expected (and when I looked elsewhere- they were in fact overpriced). I needed something relatively right away, and nothing was in stock as everything had to be special ordered. I got a better carpet elsewhere, for less money, and installed only a few days later - by someone wanting and willing to do the job right!

Pros: Large selection to choose from - with nothing in stock

Cons: Nothing in stock - sales associate not helpful

Empress has a thing or two (or maybe a few hundred) things to learn about customer service. The management there is abrupt and impersonal. Their service - unprofessional (was a subcontractor - he didn't care) . Their installation - novice. I wish that I had read the other review posted on this site before taking one step in the door! Another truly unsatisfied customer. Next time, I wouldn't even have them carpet my dog house!

Pros: Best scheme in town

Do not use under any circumstance! They do not install on time, they bring the wrong carpet (on purpose!) hoping you will agree for installation. They damaged personal property. The installer was supposed to be here at 10 am, did not find out about the install himself until 10:30am, came afternoon. Owner uncooperative and unwilling to remedy situation, have to take to small claims court. Note: I originally purchased a substantial amount of carpeting years ago and they were very good at the time... I do not see this company being in business much longer. Owner always on phone handling problems. It's a simple carpet!!! You put it down and your done! No brains needed or degree in rocket science necessary! I'm stuck now trying to get another carpet dealer install a different carpet ASAP. Will have to get Empress's insurance company to determine damages. What a headache! Originally they promised Monday installation, it is now Wednesday and what a headache! What a ripoff!
