I would recommend this daycare. It is a warm, cozy place. Teachers are great. In my son's 6 months stay there, he always loves to go there in the morning, and learns a lot.

In a desperate search to find a day care provider for my daughter, almost a year ago, I stumbled on Push My Swing quite accidentally. Rimonda met with me and I brought my daughter in so that they could meet each other.

I was so impressed with Rimonda and her staff. The day care room was not fancy, but it was clean and neat and organized and all of the children looked genuinely happy. Since attending Push My Swing, they have redecorated and I love the bright colors and wall art and new floors. The atmosphere is really warm and inviting. It's so great that they have a backyard to play in when the weather is nice.

My daughter's verbal communication skills have grown exponentially since she has attended Push My Swing. She comes home singing new songs and playing new finger games and even knows the ABC forward and backward - and she's only 2 years old. My daughter loves circle time and story time and she loves to play with the toys and puzzles. She loves the other children in her class. The other parents are also very warm and wonderful and I truly believe that it is because Rimonda sets a high standard when selecting applicants. I also realized that when a child has special needs, such as speech pathology, the therapists can come to the center to work with the child and I truly believe that the other children actually benefit from it. The staff is also very helpful in assisting me with continuity in potty training. They will encourage my daughter to go to the potty since I've started training her at home, and that is such a great benefit as it is such a challenge to potty train effectively if you send a child to a daycare that will not help you along with it (and I know from my other friends with children who they are trying to train that this is a very common challenge).

The women who work with Rimonda are trained in first aid and they also constantly attend training seminars to stay up-to-date on the latest childcare methods.

Rimonda is extremely personable and she feels like family to me. My daughter truly adores her and the women who work with her. The staff at Push My Swing is so energetic and loving and affectionate and my daughter wakes up every morning asking for them and looking forward to going to day care.

It truly breaks my heart to see such hateful posts about people who have become such an important part of our lives. I am a single parent and I don't know what I would do without Rimonda and her staff. If you really want a loving and supportive environment for your child at a price that you can afford, this is the best place to be.
THANK YOU, RIMONDA!!!!! WE LOVE YOU!

Pros: Warm, loving childcare at a reasonable price

Cons: My child will have to leave some day and we'll miss them!

The building that Push My Swing daycare center is in is full with vermin & there is vermin pellets in all the walls. Bedfly outbrakes are common place at this poorly run & managed building check the buildings dept as proof nyc.gov.

There is a barbershop underneath Push My Swing that shares the back yard and your kids will be interacting with the employes of the barbershop many of whom have lenthy criminal records for violence heck the owner was shot twice in the butt & they smoke (haze)weed to be exact in the back yard.

The owner of Push My Swing Rimonda sneaks in the back of the day care center at night and lives there.

I had taken care of Romanda's brother for a long time. He has mental problems he would not shower he would walk around with red shirts a box of sugar taking scoops of it all day long and so smelly you would taste it . Romandas brother told me she takes his food stamps and buys snacks for the daycare center with them. Romanda always had fights with the brother and she would call the police on him she would always try to hide him from the daycare parents she was so mean to him her own brother how will she be with your kids?.

Romanda has her son act as a electrical contractor she wanted lights in the back yard were the kids play Romanda's son almost set the building on fire. NYFD was called to the building because of smoking wires and the city gave Romanda a violation for it.

If anybody wants pictures or documents more info feel free to email me walterfox3@gmail

A friend of mine had warn me about this daycare. However, I thought I would give it an overview. My first impression was very poor. The moment you walk in there is a smell of some type of gasoline or chemicals. The room where the children are all huddle in is cramped and overloaded with all kinds of
items. A teacher by profession, even though I didn't mention it upon my tour, I could see this was not adecuate place for my child. The current teacher has not been there long and is there only part-time.
The director of the place was very distant while we spoke and there was no warmth in her demeanor. She
didn't provide any information about their programs/activities. Everything from the toys, books, tables looks
old and shabby. They have had violations in the past - and it's clear to see why. With the fees this director charges - they should renovate this space. It's obvious there is no investment here for any child.

Our son has been attending Push My Swing for 8 months. He is 2+ years in age. We are very happy with the care that he receives. Push My Swing is a cozy place with caring childcare providers. It is friendly, relaxed and flexible. The children who attend are happy and comfortable in their surroundings. Our son's vocabulary has excelled since attending. He arrives home singing songs and recognizes books that he has been introduced to. He knows all the names of his fellow classmates, is very social and adores the women who look after him.
Push My Swing may not be large, however it is very inviting. It has a lovely backyard where the children go and play twice a day. They have a swing set, play cars and a slide. This was a big selling point for us. In the sumer they have a sprinkler.
As do other daycare facilities, Push My Swing has a schedule of events that the children participate in every day. They have a routine that includes free time play, story time, circle time, outside play, arts and crafts, nap and meal time. I should add that they provide lunch and snacks.
Push My Swing is affordable, lower in cost then most other day cares in the New York area, but that is not it's biggest asset. Once again, we are very pleased and would recommend Push My Swing for any one searching for a safe and nurturing environment.

Cons: No complaints

I am curious as to why the extreme feelings about this daycare. The place got 3 consecutively poor reviews and then was bombarded with favorable ones. I hope that the situation has truly changed and that it is not a campaign taken upon by the parents on behest of the place. Of course those of you who have not witnessed yelling of the children will probably not, simply because anyone taking care of your valued child would just not behave that way in front of a parent. PUSH MY SWING/PUSH MY BUTTONS hopefully has examined and changed their discipline policy. and yes children do have fun when they are together, and children are forgiving, they want to believe that the person caring for them really cares for them. I know that it is hard to afford childcare and some mentioned that PUSH is affordable. That is a plus. If anything I am glad that the issue of safety and appropriate care has been put on the table. I am glad you as parents have gotten together and created meaningful dialogue around your child's quality of life in their "home" away from home. Be on the lookout for choking hazzards, cleaning chemicals within reach of the children, unsafe toys, ask for new books , ask for better art supplies, puzzles, open ended building blocks to fuel your child's imagination. Ask that your child be given cups that they can actually hold without them collapsing in their little eager hands. Flimsy paper cups usually crumble and the liquid quota ends up on the floor or table then thats it for the day. Make sure the back area is safe.

Pros: "affordable childcare"

Cons: you get what you pay for

Our son has been attending for a year and half and we've been very happy with our choice. The caregivers are excellent, very attentive and loving. The kids adore them! Our son loves it there. The place is clean and well arranged. Our son is a bright child and Push My Swing has contributed to that considering he spends his whole day there. They do a lot of fun and educational projects and get to play outdoors when the weather permits in their own playground. I like that the setting is small so the care is good and there's a nice mix of kids who've been there awhile as the older ones leave for pre-k. We like the place and the only reason our son will leave is to eventually go to school.

This was my daughter's first daycare. She adjusted extremely well within a week and she absolutely loves the place. The place is safe and the instructors are amazing care givers. She also improved her eating habits soon after she joined daycare (she was a very fussy eater before she went to this daycare and this was our main concern as she was underweight). She constantly talks about her teachers and friends, and sings songs she learned at the day care. In the three months she has been at the daycare, she has learned so much and has become very bright.
PROS: Everything you would expect a good daycare to provide for your kids
CONS: Not many, could have done with more space but its in Manhattan!

Push My Swing offered loving childcare for my daughter for three years. I chose and continued her care at Push My Swing, after she was eligible for pre-K because I knew that childhood is too quick and children should be in a loving, safe environment as long as they can be.

The owner's years of experience and the care in which she selects her staff allows an environment where children from many cultures play and grow together.

We had a great experience at Push My Swing.

My daughter has been coming here for well over a year now, and I have found it to be a gem of a daycare facility. The director and teachers are thoughtful and attentive, and take the time to know each child on an individual basis. I have always found them to be dependable and loving towards all of the children. When my daughter started, she was one of the youngest. I loved having the older children (ranging from approx. 2-4 years old), tell me what they did that day. She learned quickly, and responded well to the structured play and daily routines. Now that she is a little older, she delights in telling me about how cute the younger children are. It truly is a small, homelike environment, and the children behave like siblings. The parents I spoke to for references before selecting a daycare gave Push My Swing high marks, and I would tell any prospective chid's parents that we have had a great experience here.

my daughter has been attending push my swing approximately eight months now and I couldn't be happier with their services. my child's vocabulary has grown exponentially, she's very comfortable around children her own age, and she's genuinely happy to be there every morning when I drop her off. she even hugs the women that work there goodbye everyday when I pick her up. I am so happy with the love and care they show towards my child that I've asked a couple of the young ladies to babysit her off-hours when needed. when she catches a cold and I opt to keep her home for a day, they even call to check on her. I feel that's going way above and beyond what I even expected when I first made the choice to put her in daycare.

the location itself is small which concerned me at first, but they don't take a great deal of children on, so it works. they do keep a very tight schedule but children need stability, so that works too. when the weather allows, they let the children romp around on their private playground which, to me, is invaluable because that means they don't have to ever leave the location to get fresh air and playtime in.

I definitely need to go on record saying that I have NEVER seen them scream at any of the children or mistreat them. I have NEVER witnesses unsafe conditions. what I have seen is that my daughter genuinely loves being there. she's flourishing and learning new things everyday and that is what is most important to me as a parent.

Our son has been attending Push My Swing since January 2007 and it has been truly a blessing. Since Push My Swing is in a smaller-school setting we know that our son and the rest of his classmates are each receiving the attention they all need. The Director and Teachers are wonderful, caring, and attentive. We are extremely thrilled and relieved that there is a backyard play area. Everyday our son comes home from learning something new ? and shares with us about his day. We Love and Highly Recommend Push My Swing!!!

Our son has been here for 2 years. We're very happy with the care and attention. I've no idea why previous posters complained; our long-term experience has been exceptionally good esp. in comparison to friends' experiences elsewhere. In choosing a daycare for your child, trust your GUT feeling. We loved this place the moment we walked in. Sure, the facilities are not as modern as a brand-new Child Learning Center where your toddler will learn Latin; rather it has a home-y feel that is comfortable for us and our son. Rimonda hires caring teachers who have treated our son as their own. They've bonded with our son and that has made such a difference. Our son has always been very happy here and never gave us reason for concern like not wanting to go, crying at home, complaining, etc. I've been in the daycare often and help with field trips and I've always felt secure with the environment, both physical and emotional. Re: safety issues- look up the facility in the Department of Health public reports. They haven't been cited for safety violations during spot checks. Believe me, if there were violations they'd be reported- look at reviews of other places. Re: developmental learning and having all the kids together- gimme a break. My son started at 18mos, in 2 years he's learned plenty by being around older & younger kids. Really- what do you think happens in households with a stay-at-home parent? As in a household situation, here they learn through play with other differently-aged children and imaginative activities led by the teachers. Interacting with other children of all ages is important to socialization. As a result, our son knows to act gently around younger kids & learns from the older ones- very important. Re: food- always healthy, plenty of veggies and fruit, whole wheat bread, etc. The small size is a plus-we've made many friends with other parents, almost all are long-termers too. If you want a family-centered community where your kid can be a kid, GO HERE.

Cons: None, really.

Push My Swing Day Care is run by a nice, and I think, well-meaning woman in conjunction with another school. I was hired there and was told she is in business for 17 yrs. I am involved with child centered early education programs, and this is not one. 2 year olds and 4 year olds have different needs and when put in one small room together neither has their needs met. This facility is dangerous for the small ones and boring for the older children who need structure and curriculum. Very few books are available and no creative art space has been organized. The room is smelly and chaotic. There are no school appropriate toys such as manipulative, good solid geometric blocks, puppets or a dress up area with mirror. There is no calendar or child name area for the beginning of number and word recognition. Discipline is not handled well and any kid with a hard day or special need will find themselves in the"timeout" chair and being yelled at. The atmosphere does not promote the calm behavior of either teachers or children. Food in only sort of adequate and not very imaginative. The backyard is unsafe as is the bathroom where cleaning supplies are kept with no lock! When I think of nap-time I still feel sad. The teacher yells at the children to put their heads down and arms to the side, no rubbing of backs or gentle music just the demand to sleep from the director who needs them to sleep so she can get her work done, (some older children age-out of naps and little ones need more). Often they are left at nap-time with one teacher (God forbid a Fire). Which reminds me there is no protocol for emergencies what so ever-!! This place is a poor example of daycare and I would never leave my precious little one there.

Cons: this place needs an overhall, new toys, teachers and ages it should serve

.

This is one of the most unsafe, unprofessionial, unchild-centered daycare I've ever seen. I am torn ethically on whether or not to contact the parents directly since I have first hand experience with the place. The toys are old and age innappropriate for most of the children. The are lots of match box cars with easily removable pieces, old Mcdonald happy meal toys, broken nubby crayons and toys that easily fall apart . All these thing present a major CHOKING hazard for the children especially the toddlers who are so inquisitive and test everything by putting it in their mouth. The art supplies are minimal and also unsafe for the little ones. There are no developmental toys for the children other than some wooden blocks and badly tattered cardboard blocks. There is an outdoor slide in the middle of the small space which is mostly used by precariously perched toddlers who slide down full speed sometimes onto other kids. Minimum hygeine is enforced. Toxic cleaning chemicals are used on a table where the children eat off on, literally because paper plates are only sometimes provided. The food is not well prepared (cleanliness wise). The back yard is a total disaster with unsafe access to the play structure which is too big and dangerous for most. Going down the stairs with the children is very unsafe as there is no appropriately size handrails or guards for the children to hold down to. It is also kind of ambitious to think that 4 two years can walk down those steps by themselves with out a grownup. One grownup has to be on the top and one at the bottom to meet the children. Fire escape plan & first aid is non-existant. Nap time is just plain weird. I've never seen anything like it. just ask the kids. The woman who owns the place is genuinely sweet and probably means well, but she has no clue as to the danger or damage she is causing these children. Parents please spend the day on site with your child. I hope that you can make the best decision for your child.

Pros: I really don't see any

Cons: unsafe, crowded, age difference too vast for appropiate curriculum so there's neglect.

.

I have first hand witnessed children being screamed at, and neglected. Discipline strategy at Push My Swing is to sit in the "Time Out" chair, even if your child has to be held there. The facility was not even up to code until a year ago, and children were getting sick on a daily basis. The rates are cheap and so is the quality of care. The "backyard" is unsafe and there are several business' that have access to the area, and you will routinely find staff from those business interacting with your children.

Cons: staff is not qualified, facility is not safe, and owner has unsafe policies on discipline

I LOVE this place. The teachers couldn't be more involved in the children and how they are doing. The kids are all happy there -- it was the first thing my husband and I noticed. The rates are reasonable, and our son has just blossomed there. There are only about 12 kids there ranging in age from 2-5, so it's like our son has a bunch of brothers and sisters who teach him things and are his best buddies. There is none of the ridiculous competitive insanity that goes on with other preschools in the city. These are just happy kids learning as they go and having fun while they're doing it. BIG ADVANTAGE: Raimonda has the backyard of the building set up as a private playground for the kids, so they do not have to leave the building to go to a city park. That was a big safety plus for us. Plus that, the State of NY listings has them very highly rated. I just love this place and can't say enough good things about it!

Cons: None that I can think of.
