Zen Palate Restaurant

this japanese restaurant is very appealing once you walked in.. it feels like everyone around you is here to help. service isnt so great due to the massive amount of customers. go try it out if you loveee jap. food!

If this is the location I think it is, it's much smaller than the Union Square one, but of course, the food is just as amazing! My favorite dishes are the sweet and sour ones, and I always get the sweet potato fries. I have brought many friends and family members there--vegan, vegetarian, and meat eaters--and all have loved it and wanted to go back. It's a great place to bring someone who is visiting the city.

I love Zen Palate. They make incredible vegan food, all at a reasonable price. Plus, they deliver at the speed of light. Several times after placing my order, I've hung up to find them at my door in what seems like two minutes. They must have magic delivery men skilled in teleportation. The yam fries are delicious, and I also really like their combination platters. Check out their large location in Union Square with the more sophisticated upstairs seating area.

This and Mobys restaurant are my favorite. I love the Vareity. I used to eat meat so The transition helped me greatly. The prices are great, so take a friend and go eat.

Zen Palate is one of the vegetarian biggies in NYC. They have various seitan-based fake-meat dishes. A lot of it is in the deep-fried, battered , sauced-up vein but you can also get healthier, lighter stuff. The hot & sour soup is delicious. They have another location on the east side of Union Square.

Zen Palate serves up vegetarian cuisine, but that doesn't mean it appeals only to vegetarians. If you're lucky enough to find yourself near one, stop by! Food is presented in a very casual, but very pretty atmosphere. Most meals range $6-8.

Zen Palate looked like it was two restaurants in one - one section looked like a diner, the other looked like a sit-down formal restaurant. I ate in the diner and the food was wonderful. For dessert I had a banana pie which was excellent!

PROS: Three locations in NY, this one can handle formal or casual dining, great food
