We go to New York fairly often for concerts, necessitating a restaurant within walking distance of Carnegie Hall. More often than not, we choose Beacon, known for its wood-grilled American cuisine. Their grilled oysters are to die for! The room is on multi-levels, making for an uncrowded, pleasant ambiance, and the service is outstanding. They also have a prix-fixe, which I believe is $40 for three courses. I try to order something different each time we're there but keep coming back to those oysters. You can't go wrong whatever you order though.
