Okay, I'll give credit for giving us the $3 Happy Hour Bud or Bud LIghts. Not a big accomplishment by any means, but our first bartender was pretty cool and notified us that it was either draft or bottle. Fair enough.

It just went down hill after the middle-aged mother of a bartender took over the shift. She was absolutely laughable. If anything, I should give this place five starts due to the constant entertainment of watching and having this woman who was trying as hard as she could to hold on to every ounce of her youth serve us drinks.

The arrogant attitude came out as soon as she stepped out. Looked like she stepped out of a Britney Spears video with the ultra short skirt, blouse with only a few buttons keeping the shirt up in the middle. All great don't get me wrong except for the fact that she was about 45. Makeup caked on her face like she was Tammy Faye to hide the inevitability of age. You could smell the trail of some old shit perfume like Obsession following her around since she probably bathed in it. I think my grandma uses the same stuff. Sad really. Might have been something when she was 18-20, but that can only take you so far. The only thing she was missing were a pair of hot pants.

The worst part was that she totally screwed us on our drinks. Had all of our drinks during the Happy Hour and had our last round at 6:45 from the 7pm deadline for the specials. She charged us full price for our last. Not a big deal, but when she acted insulted when we pointed out that she made a mistake. Then she said that she "wasn't supposed to do Happy Hour on game days" even when there was a advertising board outside the front door. When she told us to "suck it up" that was pretty uncalled for. I guess its okay to look past since she's got to be pulling pints on a Wednesday night for the rest of her life. I though we being nice when we were willing to look past that she was only interested in talking with the geeky, older, bald dudes who were acting like a bunch of ex-frat boys who were trying to relive their college days. Cut from the same cloth, I guess.

Overreacting? Honestly, I don't think so. Unlike most of the patrons walking in the joint, we were sober when we left. Pretty easy when you don't keep yelling for Jaegerbombs. Then again, those are the type of drinks that the bartender needs to feeding to her patrons to make herself seem 21 again. I'll probably find her in a few years in Newark tending bar at the local trucker bar on a weeknight. Don't believe me? Have a pint at The Back Page. You can't miss her. Just follow the person who smells like 1987.

Pros: Cheap booze

Cons: Ugly, old bartenders

The food is amazing!!!! If you're in the mood to be bad eat the nachos and the wings! They are off da' hook!!!!! Suirprisingly they even have food thats healthy, such as yummy salads and veggie burgers-for your veggie friends. The staff is even better, they are cool down to earth chicks, that are all super-friendly and not to mention pretty hot. If you go in there more than once you are bound to get to know them, and are welcomed like a best friend the next time you come in. if you ask for a specific game they will put it on for you, which is cool. Oh yeah, the day time is great for cheap beer and lunch. three bucks for beer, not bad huh?

I stumbled onto this site yesterday and am now making my round of reviews. Back Page has got to be THE best sports bar in the city in terms of sports broadcast, food, friendliness, service, and absolute knockout bartenders and waitstaff. Try the wings. It's no wonder they're rated one of the best in the city. I get a double order of the mild wings (I'm a weeny) everytime I'm there. That doesn't stop my friends from getting a triple order of the hot. I don't even want to start on the garlic bread when dipped in the wing sauce...AMAZING! Fantastic burgers. Get the french fries crispy...perfection. And when I want to watch my boyish figure I get the grilled chicken salad with spinach greens. I've been going there for years, all I can say to them with a big thumbs up is, "AAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"

Pros: Laid-back. Fantastic service. Awesome food.

Cons: Staff is so beautiful to look at I sometimes miss the game.

They just stand around goofing off. Forget about having an order delivered. If the order does arrive it's not what you ordered and the food has really gone downhill.

VERY disappointing! We have been ordering from Back Page since we moved to NYC....and really loved it at first. The past 6 months....I don't know if they have changed owners or management, the delivery service has been really bad. Tonight we ordered food at 7pm, sounded not very busy and the hostess seemed relaxed. We waited 45 min and still no order - ( did I mention we live a block away) - we call and are put on hold for 10 min - then told the order will be there in a minute - okay - we wait for 15 more min - finally it gets here. So by now it has taken an hour and 10 min to get our food. (let me mention another - if a restaraunt mentions they are busy and it may take an hour - okay....get it - at least I have the choice to wait this long or not) We get the food and it is cold - with our burgers there are like 5 french fries ($10 burger). I also specifically asked for extra fries. So I call and tell them we didn't get our extra fries...put on hold for another 10 minutes....told that they'll send fries but it will be 1/2 an hour. Okay AS A GOOD BUSINESS....would you make a customer wait longer for more of their order or rush someone over?? Don't get it. Well, 45 minutes go by and NO FRIES! Call again....have a conversation with the owner....he tells us the fries are on there way....wait another 15 minutes....NO FRIES! We call again and tell them to forget about it. But now its 10 o'clck and we ordered at 7pm. Not good! Sorry Backpage- usually we like it.....but beyond annoyed tonight.

good scene for football, or any sports for that matter, but only if you don't want to eat or drink. The service was atrocious. The waitresses did nothing but take your order 20 min after we sat down and give us the check while the busboys served us throughout the day...it took us a little over an hour to get our main course, which was a chicken sandwich...and when i approached the manager he was a drunk mumbling idiot at 3pm!!!! as a bar manager myself, i see this place being run into the ground...i can't wait until this place goes under and i purchase it myself and maximize profitability b/c the potential is definitely there

The $6 domestic draft comes in those pint shaped glasses that don't hold a full pint. Worse yet, the bartender doesn't fill the glass, and the beer isn't cold enough.

When the burger I had ordered medium finally came, it was an ultra well done charcoal brickette that tasted like gasoline. The fries were slimy.

Though the place was completely dead, the only way I could get the waitress to stop chatting with coworkers and acknowledge our existence was by physically getting out of my chair to go get her.

With a thousand other places in the city exactly like this except with better food, more generous pours, and wait staff who grasp the concept of their job, there is no reason for anyone to ever subject themselves to this dump.

Ordered wings for the Super Bowl. Though we placed the order at 2:30 and were told we had a 4:00 pick up, the wings were not ready until 7:00. The wait staff was rude and there was no organization behind the bar. The wings were decent when they finally arrived but not worth the wait. With so many other choices available on the UES go somewhere else where the service is nicer and quicker. The ambiance is forced and memorabilia is run of the mill. I will not go there again and I wouldn't let my friends suffer the same rude service and terrible treatment.

Everyone is nice to me in there. The wings are famous and the beer is always cold, what else could a girl want?

Waitresses here don't seem to realize that they are supposed to be waiting tables. By far the worst service I have ever had in NYC. If they were pleasant, then maybe their lack of attention would be somewhat forgiveable. Every beer that we got was because we waved the waitress down and when we did, she was always unhappy that we were interrupting her conversation with her waitress friends. Food is great - when you finally get it.

If you love sports, this is your place. I love to hang out there on Sunday afternoons to catch a football game or two or three (depending how many games you can pay attention to at once - they have four mega screens and at least 10 regular TVs). The ambiance is always great and the prices are reasonable. Food is good, too - especially the open-faced steak tidbit sandwich. Just to die for! One setback: they just started charging $5 cover - what the heck is that all about????

The Back Page is a much welcomed scene to have a drink, catch the game and enjoy the sites! Even when NY sports teams aren't doing at all well, a great time can be had here. The game that should be on is always on and there are people to meet. The wings are second to none - Best Wings in Town!

Sports, Wings and the fact that my wife loves the owner! - I Win!!!

The Back Page is a great place for college alumni groups to meet and watch their alma mater play. The food and the atmosphere is outstanding. But could do with a little less University of Arizona flags.
The Arizona State University Alumni have made this their happy home away from home.

The Back Page has really emerged as the place to watch sports in all of Manhatten. It is small enough to be close to all the action, but large enough to still be comfortable. The chicken wings are particulary good as are the burgers. College football Saturday is great at this bar, especially if you're a Texas fan. Overall, the Back Page has very exciting atmosphere, and when the Yankees are playing in the Series in a few weeks, you won't want to miss out.
