Reviews for Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Ratings_icons Not the word of God

Sean S.

We recently left Bethlehem Lutheran Church due to fundamental beliefs in church doctrine. Namely the church does not believe the bible is the word of God but instead man's interpretation therefore it needs to be constantly redefined which is why they now say Gays in a relationship can be pastor. Homosexuality is not considered a sin but just another type of lifestyle.
The church is friendly offers some youth events, not many family events. It is very Fairport centered so if your child does not attend Fairport they will be left out.

My family has been attending BLC for over 30 years. I grew up participating in all the youth groups and activities. BLC is a family-oriented, tradition-based church that has so much to offer. As an adult, I moved back to Fairport and returned to Bethlehem. Both my children were baptized at BLC. There are many opportunities to serve, too. I am a Sunday School teacher ( I am teaching the children of my childhood friends!), we knit blankets to take to shut-ins and members who are ill. We donate to the Perinton food shelf. We have a wonderful ministry that provides communion to members who are unable to attend services. Our Barnabas ministry provides weekly visits from members to those who are at home or in nursing homes. We have many handicapped members and are elevator-equipped. There is a nursery during both services, and there are Thursday night services during the summer months to accommodate those families who find themselves so stretched on summer weekends. Pastor Garner has been with us for 30 years, and our new pastor, Pastor Korey, is a breath of fresh air. He brings youthful exuberance to an already energized youth ministry. We ask time and talent from all members, and that includes the yearly Variety Show. Rich or poor, outgoing or shy, everyone has a contribution. Please pay us a visit at the 8:30 or 11:00 services. It'll feel like home the very first time!

PROS: Great family worship programs
CONS: None!
