Where do I begin? The service is exceptional. You're like an old friend when you walk in. The bartender, Ramon, has the wine poured before you have taken off your coat. The waiters and the owner, Pablo, are friendly and genuinely glad to

Pros: good traditional eats

We could not get a table at Blue Ribbon Cafe so entered Cafe Espanol. What a pleasing discovery. Cafe Espanol serves excellent simple and honest Spanish food in gracious quantities. We ate great octopus, good mussels, good fried calamari, excellent (huge) skirt stake and good (huge) grouper fillets. Their potatoes chips are hand cut. All was delicious. The wine is amazingly cheap. The waiters did everything to please us and were so nice. We paid $150 for 6 including one bottle of wine (4 drank), before tip. This restaurant provides top value for your money. We will definitely go back and probably more than once (I have already booked a reservation for 10).

My wife and I stumbled upon this place last summer, and we have been going ever since. The food is consistently good, and the service mostly exceptional. I don?t know if it?s just us, but they go out of their way to make us feel special. Last Tuesday was our best experience. We went for the flamenco show they have been advertising, and it did not disappoint. I don?t particularly care for Flamenco, but I thought the dancers were fantastic. It was very interactive?some of the audience were dancing as well! (though I preferred to watch). Even better, they were giving 20% percent off their wine list. Pablo (the owner) suggested a crianza that came out to less than $30! I swear, I have seen the same bottle for over $40. Over the past few months, it?s experiences like this that make this place one of my new favorites.

This place is amazing. Friendly, courteous service, great and I mean great food, and THE SANGRIA IS OUT OF THIS WORLD. It is the perfect combo of sweet and tart not too alcoholic, fruity but not overbearing, and on and on. This place could seriously become you every Friday favorite.!!! T o sum up , yeah I really like the place.

Cafe Espagnol offers New Yorkers tasty seafood at very reasonable prices while filling you up with tastey sangria. If you're looking for non-seafood, go somewhere else, because you'll be dissapointed to order it from Cafe Espagnol. My girlfriend and I made the mistake on our first visit and we paid for it with a horrid dining experience. Our second time around, we did it right by sharing some clams and mussels as appetizers, followed by a shot of Petrone and their Lobster Special. We were glad that we took the regulars' advice on our second visit. We'll DEFINATELY be back again.

Pros: food, service

Cons: small place

for $12.95 you get a salad, a 1.25 lb lobster and a choice of side dishes. The steamed lobster was very tasty. The gazpacho and sangria are also outstanding, and a phenomenal value. Service is amoungst the most attentive I've ever seen (the waiter stpped my girlfriend from pooring herself more sangria so he could pour it) and they even put on your lobster bibs for you. The owners of this restaurant also own the Cafe Espanol on Bleeker and the Salon de Tapas on Sullivan, and you can't go wrong at any of their locations.

I was here last night with five friends and the service was all over the place. They stuck us in the back in this sort of crevice where getting the attention of the staff was nearly impossible. At some point the manager attached his personal attention to our table, but that didn't fix the situation. The appetizers (we ordered 5 or 6) came out out over a 10 minute time span. I had to ask 4 times (4 times!) for a coke before it was delivered. I was eating with a bunch of off-duty restauranteurs, so they left a big tip, nonetheless, but it was much more than the restaurant deserved. My advice: sit up ront where you'll be noticed!

The 16 oz. steak or lobster special prix-fixe kicks butt! Only twelve bucks AND the waiters are total professionals. For side dishes, get the garlic-y green beans AND their lightly fried sliced potatoes (my hubby's favorite). I had a big family birthday dinner here, and I bring out-of-towners here for Maine lobsters & authentic neighborhood dining.

The best lobster, sangria, Cosmo, calamari, seafood stuffed mushrooms...you name it, are tucked away in Greenwich Village at an affordable price. Cafe' Espanol's three locations offer the real deal for a great deal. I prefer Carmine Street because there's usually a seat and my favorite waiters are there. While we're at it, how about a lobster dinner for $11.95? The way they broil it with garlic and breadcrumbs is worthy of an encore. How do I know? Every one I've brought by has become a regular!
