It has been great there since the renovation. the staff is so nice. The service is good and the dining hall is great. The food isn't anything to get excited about but ive been going there all of my life and ill tell you between the horse back riding and the late night entertainment you will come home with memories that will never be forgotten. you'll be wanting to stay another day or more. again ive been goig there all my life since the time ive first went there and now it only gets better

Just returned from Pine grove. It was our first time there. they told us they were introducing their new menu and I have to say it was very good. all the wait staff were friendly. We were not rushed at all. ( maybe because we we in the dining hall a bit later? ) they served foods like rib eyed steak ribs, shrimp, broiled cat fish and salmon. I have to say it was all good and there was plenty of food. the appetizers were hot and very tasty. buffalo wings and blooming onion were great starters.

we were fortunate to visit when they added a starbucks and a small italian restaurant. The kids were always going to the snack bar and coming back with piping hot french fries and frozen yogurt. I must say that I was a bit disapointed with our room. It was a bit runned down, but I did take a peek at the newer rooms that have been newly redone this year and they looked really nice.

The addition to the ranch is a huge air pillow trampoline thing that the kids and I really loved. It was a blast! The out door pool had two slides and the kids loved it. the indoor pool was downstairs and yes that area needs some sprucing up big time. We went horse back riding several times and it was so much fun. There is also a lake where we took a paddle boat ride. there were also fishing poles available and I saw lots of people fishing. The campfire was alot of fun and so was the sing-a-long. they also would have a cocktail hour for the adults with simple snacks like cheese and crackers and lots of yummy fruit. every night they have entertainment and I really enjoyed it and so did the kids.

I am not going to say that this place is perfect...its not. they have got to really spruce up the exterior of the building and they have got to update a few more of the wing of rooms. the grounds are clean but they need to pay more attention to the quality of the equipment and replace and fix things that are in disrepair. Will I go back...YES! My kids had a great time and overall I know the management are trying to fix Pine grove and make it into the jewel that it could be. If you decide to try it try to get into the newly renovated rooms.

I have been going to Pinegrove since I was born. I am now 15 years old and Pinegrove is best childhood memory. My parents are divorced, and Pinegrove is one of the VERY few times we spent together. Pinegrove was like heaven to me as a little girl. I would wait ALL YEAR to go to pinegrove in Mid-august. I am excited to bring my friends there soon this year, as well.

My only grandmother who is still alive has memory loss. She can't remember how to eat, shower, or much of anything else, but she remembers pinegrove and says how she loved it and wishes she could go back there.

here's what's good. there is a nice pool, there are families having fun, and there is stuff to do and its a pretty area. Here's what's bad, pretty much everything else. the food is borderline edible, the rooms depressing, and the place is so run down, the cable wires stick out near each door for the rooms. the management doesn't care about keeping the place up, and oh, yes, the horseback ride we took, lasted all of 20 minutes. thought it would be a nice break after dropping our son at college. go elsewhere unless you're really desperate.

To be fair, the trip up was awful with rain, traffic, and fog so we were not in the best of moods when we arrived for our "Scout Weekend". Lots of little things about this place: old, uneven floors, horrific food and poor choices, slow service in restaurant, etc. But what made this a poor choice for a Scout Weekend was the unfriendly, condescending staff. Did not appreciate being lectured at every meal to "move it along" because the next group would be dining soon: Maybe we shouldn't have to wait 45 minutes for food!!! Or yelling at girls to stop their horses from eating on the trail ride, but not telling these first-time riders what to do! If "down home friendliness is their first concern", maybe the staff needs an overhaul.
Good points: lots of activities, Campfire was awesome.

OMG, stay away from this place! We took our high school group there for a ski trip, and it was a complete nightmare. The lobby is awesome and very welcoming, the rest is downhill from there. The rooms are moldy, and are falling apart. There are brown leak bubbles hanging from the ceiling, as well as the walls. The carpets are disguisting and very dirty. In the bathrooms, you are greeted with brown toilet, shower, and sink water, then comes the molded shower curtain. The beds are horrible, and unsanitary, and we found a beer can, mayonaise, and cigarrettes under them. The pool is hazardous to your health, the bottom is green, and its topped with the brown ring around it. I heard the food wasn't that bad, but I cound'nt eat it because it was cooked and served by crackheads, WHO DAMN NEAR BEG FOR TIPS. Many of the employees are on drugs, and have no teeth. The night club smells like bowel movement, and the d.j. sucks. For the whole two days, I thought I was being punked, as I waited patiently for Ashton Kutcher to appear!!!!!!!!!!

i am concerned about the quality of the swimming pool --I want to know if the pool walls and pool floor are scrubbed clean sometimes, i hope the pool water is changed. i surely hope that more cleaning for the pool is done, i'm wondering if too much chlorine is dumped in, a girl who had been in the water with eyes open -- her eyes were stinging for a while.-- at dinner she was squinting the whole time.. maybe too much chlorine, i want to know if the pool gets regular inspection the pool walls looked moldy, has the pool water been tested by taking a sample of the water?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Don't waste your time or money. We had booked a four day vacation there but left after one day. The place is old, tired, moldy, smelly, and in a desperate need of a makeover. Archery: Stunk, arrows had no feathers, targets were old, the guy working it would rather be elsewhere. Not a good place at all. The rooms were bad. We switched our original horrible room for a dingy, moldy, damp room..which was an improvement. Food was so/so. It is way over priced for the waste of time they are. Do not go there. I do not know who are doing the good reviews, maybe friends of the place, paid bloggers or what but trust me don't waste your money

My wife and local girl scout troop just returned from the ranch. All-in-all, she stated that the experience was just okay. Rustic seemed to be the central theme. It does need updating, especially with respect to the elevated prices and services presented; similar camps appeared to provide a better experience. The pool and horseback riding were enjoyed by all.

Wow, this place was the worst place ever. I just went on my senior trip for it and I had a horrible time. As soon as we got there, the wood paneling on the outside looked like it was rotting. The inside was tacky looking. I shared a room with 5 other people and obviously the people could not book a room right. There were only two full size beds and a bunk bed, which was falling apart. Let's see, there was a white spot on one of the blankets, a pink spot on the wall, iron burns of the carpet, and a hole in the wall. Many of the other rooms were the same. There was a door leading to the outside that had a hole in the bottom of it letting cold air inside. The staff were not friendly at all. The one lady was on the cell phone when we were signing up for activities. One lady yelled at me when I went horseback riding and she was hitting the horses. The pool was green at the bottom, laser tag was horrible, and there weren't really any activities to do. If you wanted to do something fun, you had to pay extra! When we had dinner, most of the time the dishes were dirty. Oh, and the water tasted and smelled like sulphur. I couldn't wait to get home.

We went to this "ranch" in Sept 08 for a girl scout weekend and found the place to be less than we expected to find.

Upon walking in the front door you are greeted by a musty smell which continues on into the rooms. The room that we were assigned had two double beds and a single bed. One of the double beds was sagging so badly I would estimate that there was a 6 inch divot in the middle. You couldn't possibly have two people sleep on it. One of the girls in our troup had a bad reaction to the mold in the rooms and got sick while we were there. When the kids filled up the bath tub to take a bath the water in the tub was brown.

Review by the items:
rooms - bad - smell musty, need new mattresses, one of the drawers in the dresser was literally falling apart
Pools both indoor and outdoor - nice
rock climbing wall - so old that the grips are worn off and it is hard to climb
volley ball court. - net is sagging and ripped - completely missing the bottom edge - the pine grove person assigned to teach volleyball knew nothing about it
grounds - a little dingy
archery - very small space - not good for groups which they are advertising to. They only had enough arrows for each girl to shoot 3. The targets look like they have been through a war - need more arrows and new targets
horses - nice but they only load them one person at a time - not group friendly
petting zoo area - pleasant, but not well kept
hay ride to lake - nice
fishing at lake - nice
paddle boats at lake - nice - dock is extremely rickety - be careful
food - ok (at best), but certainly not the variety they had in the sample menu
dining room - too small - not capable of handling a crowd - had to wait a long time to get a seat
laser tag - only takes 8 at a time every half hour (16 an hour) - not group friendly. Many of the guns do not work. The weekend we were there half of the area was blocked off because the floor was wet.
shuffleboard - all the sticks were worn off on the ends - need new ones. Many of the pucks are cracked in need of replacement
bullroom - disco - ok, but too loud - may daughter would not stay it was too loud for her

Overall the place is dingy and run down. It has potential, but someone needs to refurbish the place. The activities are not designed to efficiently handle the groups they are trying to appeal to. For adults the place is a dump. For kids it seems ok although if your child has mold allergies you do not want to go here
