Poor Patient Interaction

by Elaine T.

I was not pleased with my doctor patient interaction this morning. I was handed my prescriptions and told I was being put on a cholesterol lowering medication. When I asked if the medication was "over-the-counter" I was told, "It is a prescription, NOT an over-the-counter medication. When he looked at the prescriptions in my hand that he gave me he realized he had NOT given me the cholesterol prescription. This is why I assumed it was an OTC med! When I asked him about my chest x-ray results ordered prior to an angiogram he said, "I am not a Lung expert." I thought I might at least get some explanation other than "the damage is done". I got the impression he was more interested in punishing me for my 30 year ago smoking habit. I felt humiliated and upset. He recommended an Exercise Program, but did not give any details until I had to ask what is was, what does it consist of and where do I go? There was no willful input from him. He seemed little interested that my B/P was very good and that I lost a total of 4 pounds within my first visit 5 weeks ago. I will not return to Suburban Cardiology for any future appointments.

good care

by amanda v.

This office is a pleasure to deal with from scheduling an appt to having a phone call returned. My primary dr gets the report from Dr. Albrecht's office within 24 hours of me being seen!! The dr always tries to give me samples before filling a prescription and is very conscientious about ordering generic medicines for me if possible. His office have taken the time to challenge my insurance on my behalf when he felt it was in my best interest!! I go there because they run on time and schedule same day if neccesary and the staff is very friendly and answer my questions. I am happy they are "high tech" and are able to give me the best care.

Dr. Chugh is a good doctor

by mark k.

I have been seeing Dr. Chugh for 5 years now. He always runs in time, explains everything in detail, and makes it a point to minimize the number of pills I take and gives me generic meds when appropriate to keep my out of pocket drug costs to a minimum.

Great Doctor

by John S.

My doctor at Suburban Cardiology always sees me. I don't see an nurse practitioner or assistant. I see a board certified cardiologist each time I have an office visit which means a lot to me as I have had an heart attack and a stent 3 years ago.

Depends What You're Looking For

by Kristy H.

I am an RN who worked some 10 years on a cardiac care unit and then worked in busy ER. So, when my husband developed angina, I was in familiar territory. Our doc referred my husband to Suburban Cardiology. I have to say they were quick to get him in and have a stress test done. The doctor who read his stress test said it looked like he had one blocked coronary artery and they scheduled him for an angioplasty with a stent placement ironically where I used to work. The procedure went smoothly and they managed to open his artery to 100%. He spent the night recovering there and never once did he see one of the cardiologists. He saw one of their Physician Assistants just once. Since then however, his visits have been a nightmare. His first visit after his procedure, the doctor spent more time praising himself for knowing the correct artery that was blocked versus my husband's questions and concerns. I could have named the artery blocked too if I had access to the EKG from the stress test. Both of us are disabled and our only source of income is social security. We have three kids. The doctor wanted my husband on Crestor although he had no samples to give him. He could not understand why we didn't have the money to pay out of pocket for this expensive drug. My husband was admitted back in the spring, after the stent, with pneumonia and also complaining of chest pain. No cardiologist from the group saw him in the three days he was hospitalized even though his admission orders said to have someone from the group see him. To get to the point, they're basically okay for procedures. If you're looking for doctors who are down to earth, who talk to you, explain things to you, are sympathetic, empathetic, etc., then find another cardiology group.

Had an echocardiogram

by Ruth R.

I was VERY pleased with the treatment. I had barely taken off my coat before a nurse called me back. I saw the Dr. and had all tests done promptly with the results given to me immediately.

Stress Test

by Anonymous

I went in for a nuclear stress test. The office was efficient, clean, and on time (very important). I asked to go to this office specifically because my friend is a patient there and he has nothing but great things to say about this practice and the service they provide. Great service!

Poor communication with my primary care doctor

by manny s.

I got the test that my doc wanted but I had to call this office at least a dozen times to get this information sent to my primary care. Too busy for them to send reports and my exam results!

Too fast paced, little explanation to patients

by John Z.

The practice is high tech and little hands on with patients. I needed some diagnostic studies which were done but the results were not relaed to me nor to my doctor for a long time. Quite frustrating if you think about it because when you are being worked-up for heart disease, you need to know what is going on. I sought another physician to be my cardiologist after this experience.

PROS: none - poor patient care
CONS: the whole experience is impersonal and amateur

Not best recommendation for valve surgery

by John o.

The doctor (F.A.) recommended that a patient of mine go to Hamot, PA for mitral valve repair. My patient went there for an opinion and found that the surgeon at Mercy Hospital has very good outcomes. My patient was very upset, needless to say and I stopped referring patients to this cardiologist. Physicians should not use politics to interfere with their medical decisions! He has no credibility as far as I am concerned.

PROS: none
CONS: very opinionates and not objective

Unnecesary test

by George K.

I felt very rushed when I got my echo test by these doctors. The facility is nice but the explanations were missing as to why I needed the study and how it was going to sort out whether or not I needed more evaluation. They said that "it was time for me to get this test" even though I had no heart problems.

PROS: nice place
CONS: poor information, very hectic, impersonable

Very Good

by Kim K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 1,975

I had to go for an echocardiogram at Suburban Cardiology per my general practioners request. I was very impressed with Suburban Cardiology. Their staff was very efficient in checking people in and there was virtually no wait to be seen even though the waiting room was full. It was a very clean and comfortable environment. The staff showed compassion with their treatments.
