I would give ZERO stars if I could. My husband, his friend, and I drove nearly 3 hours to get to The Cutting Room last night (1/16/13) and couldn't have been more disappointed and angry with the service.

We arrived at 6:30 and planned to go in and sit down for dinner before the show. This is a little late for us to eat dinner, so we were starving. We were told by the bartenders that we would have to wait until 7 to go in and sit down because they weren't ready yet. OK. 7:00 came and went, as did 7:30 and 8:00. We FINALLY got to go in around 8:30 but by that time the lobby was so packed we couldn't get a table where all three of us could sit together so my husband's friend decided to stand. I couldn't flag a waitress down until about 9:00 when the show had already started. We were the first people there that night and other people were finishing eating at this point and we didn't even have menus yet... We were livid!

This is when it really gets good because I stop a waitress with long, dark curly hair and ask her if we were ever going to get any service here (a little cocky, but I wasn't out of line). I really didn't think they were going to get us food.. I asked her for menus and she threw them on our table and said, "F*ck off! I'm not serving you!" Seriously?! The manager wouldn't take accountability for anything -- he was a real young guy in a suit with dark hair with his head up his ass. He ended up bringing us burgers about 45 minutes later. Our friend never got to order, as he was still standing, so we had to split the two meals between the three of us. Can you imagine that? We finished our burgers as the show was ending and people were getting up to leave. Did that whole ordeal allow any of us to even enjoy the music? No.

This was probably the worst service I ever had in my life and I will NEVER go back. What a shame that my husband's first time in the city had to end up this way. Yes, the food was good, the beer was tasty and the music great, but the attitude of management/servers was deplorable.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Some talented people show up at this venue. As everyone know Mr. Big has a stake in it as well as Richie Canata. Have musician friends that love to show up at this venue on Monday nights to just jam. If your with the right people and not with people with inhibition issues, you can rock it on a Monday! Just have fun-they do!

This place has a nice lounge area in the front with decent priced drinks and good seating. The back doors open into a theater room with a large stage, an additional bar, and lot's of tables. I recommend the open mike jam session they have every Monday night, for free! Some talented people show up.

The Cutting room has a comfortable bar area where you can relax and enjoy decent food and drinks. They have live shows in a back room. Its a small performance area. You can find both cover bands and new artists. You have to look at your bill carefully. Each time I went there they included something from the person sitting next to me. I guess they assume if you talk to strangers you are buying them a drink too.

Mr. Big may not be dead, but his restaurant/burlesque venue has serious organizational issues. Went there for wife's b'day...big fan of show, not me. Still, calamari, burger, and crabcakes were fine, waitress was great. Had a great plan: eat, then watch show and have numerous drinks. Went to buy tickets for show. A pathetically arrogant nothing of a hostess told me to come back at 11pm since she had other customers with reservations to take care of. Odd, no one was on line and why not take the customer's money to lock him in? Ok, back to the calamari (much smarter anyway and less stench). FF 11pm, there I am after waiting on line with the "reservation folk." Ready to walk in, hand her $40 big bucks, a bank breaker right, (this was the advertised price by the way). She says, $25 each. No problem, here is $60. Her response. "Oh, you have to go and get exact change," handing me back my money. Do you not want to make a buck or not? Mr. Big, as I understand owns the bar, the show is owned by the burlesque entity, probably the sword swallower or fire eater. Sadly, Mr. Big is the one who comes up short here. Enough with the nonsense, my wife and I left. If a business doesn't want to make money, why bother. The cutting room, cut Mr. Big out of my big love affair with booze. The bar bill alone that I would have run up would have dwarfed the measly 50 bucks that I couldn't even give the communicative hag of a hostess. She has no business being at that podium: zero manners, zero planning, zero customer service. Very immature. I hope at least Mr. Big is nailing her because she is ____ing him anyway, perhaps just not where he prefers. Well, everything for a reason...went to Donkey Punch on Bleeker: Great fun, lots of laughs, nice people, tons of booze (they actually took my money...happily and with appreciation), and wouldn't you know it, a happy wife, a happy husband: Sex in the City! PS, although there is only 1 star for the overall rating: the food was actually a 3 or better and the waitress was a 3 or better. A real shame. We love the idea, just give the management and organizational structure a colonoscopy.

I have gone here several times mostly to see Liberty DeVito play the drums. There is a varied selection of food ... all good. The tomato and mozzarella appetizer and the sushi is great. There is ample seating and the staff is amicable.
