I have 3 children and have been saved many times by these doctors. They are nice and respectful and I feel connected every time I meet them. No question is silly question and I believe that this is THe PLACE to take your worries when you are in need. Dr George is such a gentleman (my son wants to be just like him) , Dr Camelia is soothing and has a light touch( her shots do not hurt) and Dr Mady is calm and nice. I have been around looking for doctors for my kids .And for me this is IT

The doctors are great, esp. Dr. Madi--she makes you feel comfortable immediately and is very pro-breastfeeding, even in extended BFing. The other docs take some getting used to, but can also be warm and friendly. Regardless of personality, all of them are excellent physicians, and spot things easily, and are good at responding to your concerns w/out condescention. Not sure about first reviewer's experience--I guess everyone has their off days.

The office staff is OK, they sometimes forget things, but if you keep on them they are efficient enough. Nurses are all great and warm and friendly, and clearly love babies and kids.

We opted for Our Neighborhood Medical after our second child was born. It was much, much closer than our previous practice, the short walk made it convenient.

However, the practice as a whole needs work.
We did like one doctor very, very much (Dr. Madi Barbulescu).
The rest (especially Dr. Gheorghe Ganea and Camelia Ganea) are just plain lousy. Not kid friendly, not parent friendly, they don't like answering questions, and look down upon anyone without an MD after their name.

The staff is much the same. Seems they would rather not be bothered.
When we needed copies of medical records for our son entering preschool, it took them THREE WEEKS to produce copies.

Again, THREE WEEKS.

There is no excuse for that.

Then when we moved, we entered our son into a Pre-K where they neeed the immunization record signed and stamped. Upon this request (not an out of the ordinary request), the receptionist gave a curt and incredulous "who do you need that?". 1. it really isn't of her concern, 2. how is that out of the ordinary.

If we didn't move, we'd probably go back to our old practice in Astoria, where they treat people with respect.

by my 3 years-old niece, who said she wants to go back for another shot. (just kidding, she wanted to go back to get another tatoo)

*** 12/7/2008 I am a HS student and have been a patient of Our Neighborhood Medical for several years now. Sometimes I read reviews and today I am surprised to see this misguided one. These doctors are anything but lousy. My mother and grandmother are working people and the doctors always take time to answer their questions. This is their hallmark. They are considerate, kid friendly and parent friendly. Doctors George and Camelia work only part time now, but they brought in Dr. Madi who is just as good. Even though the office is busy, they have same day appointments and provide excellent care.

***5/1/06 I went there with grandma who doesn't speak English. We got same day appointment and were late, but the doctor still saw me. He looked like he cared. It was a pleasant experience although I received vaccine shots.
