When Elora's Restaurant was established in 1995, Pedro's vision was to establish a local restaurant where everyone could enjoy quality Spanish and Mexican food in a pleasant and friendly environment. He named the restaurant after his daughter who was given the name from a character (Princess Elora) in the movie "Willow." Elora's has since become a popular restaurant, not only with local patrons, but many people from afar who have heard of their fine cuisine and friendly service. We welcome you to join us for a good meal and a good time. Beverages include: beer, wine, Sangria and frozen Margaritas, and of course tropical drinks for those under age. We are children friendly so bring the whole family. We accommodate all corporate events and private parties. Come join us for our Happy Hours....

Unexciting but satisfying

by James P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,772

I was surprised to like this Mexican place as much as I did. The corner location and bland decor are nothing special, and the menu is ordinary Tex-Mex standards. But everything's well-executed, the chile rellenos and salsa are especially outstanding, portions are generous and the price is right. Reliable spot for a casual dinner out.

Great Place!!!

by Woohooo

I've been going to Elora's for years now! I drive all the way from Manhattan w/my wife to eat every weekend at this place. I personally know the "owner" Pete, he's a very nice friendly guy so is he's wife Lori. I've been there w/large parties of 30 people and more; I can honestly say the staff has always treated us well.
This place is a family restaurant, so if you want to be loud and obnoxious you should go to a sports bar!! People come to this place w/friends and family to have a nice quite meal and drinks!!!
With that said, you can sit out side in the summer and slurp there fabulous margaritas, pinacolada and mojitos.
The food portions are huge! From the burritos to the delicious fajitas, that are so large you can even share it for 2. There Seafood linguine is to die for and my all time favorite which I can't get enough of is the Elora's burrito.
This is definitely a great place to eat!!

Pros: seating outside, great margaritas!!

Cons: no parking, on weekends it's so packed you have to wait for a table.

NEVER AGAIN!

by Foodcritic311

My friends and I have been going to Elora's for years. we stopped coming for a while because negative vibe we would get from the staff. Yesterday we decided to give it another chance. We made reservations for over 20 of us. When we arrived there, Joel, one of the waiters told us that we would have to sit in the front because the back was reserved for another party bigger than us. Well, needless to say, there was no other party coming, the wait staff did not want to be bothered with servicing people in the back since most of the customers were siting outside. Fine! We sat in the front. There were over 20 of us so of course we were loud. I had to ask them to please clean my table. We found a piece of a plastic bag in one of the margarita pitchers. The staff ignored us and paid more attention to those sitting outside. I ordered the shrimp and chicken fajita for two.... five little shrimps and a little bit of chicken. Meanwhile others that ordered the chicken fajita for two received a mountain of chicken. OK ! it gets better! We finished eating so some of us went outside to smoke. While we were out there the husband of the owner came out and told us to pay our bill and get out because he needed our tables for other customers. WHAT? EXACTLY! OUR BILL WAS ALMOST $400.00 we are customers too! They moved our tables and chairs while we were outside smoking. Our handbags were on the chairs! We told him we would never go back there again, his response.."Fine don't come back!" This place does not deserve any good reviews. It's a HOLE in the ground. The floor is always sticky. They're HORRIBLE! And now I know why we stopped going there for a while, and we all swore NEVER TO Go back there again! Save your money go to some other better cleaner more friendly place on Park Slope! This place is NOT WORTH IT!!!!

My husband and I went there a while ago.. He ordered the baked clams. When he got it.. The clams smelled really bad. It smelled disgusting! We returned it! The clams were no good! The staff is not friendly at all. They don't clean up your table, they ignore you. I was very disappointed!

decent spanish food at an expensive price

by brooklyngirl82

People seem to either love or hate Elora's. I'm one of the rare few that doesn't have strong feelings one way or the other. On the one hand, the food is decent, and some of the dishes, such as the lemon chicken, are downright delicious. Other recipes they use, such as their rice and beans, are simply okay, and not worth the price.
The service is up and down. Sometimes the wait staff is friendly, and other times they can be bitchy and act like they hate their job.

You can get much better Spanish food elsewhere in Brooklyn for less, and if you're looking for good Mexican, try another part of town, such as Sunset Park, which has much better rice and bean/taco/burrito dishes for a fraction of the price.

Pros: some very good dishes, sometimes very friendly service

Cons: sometimes very unfriendly service, average food that is pricey

very disappointed

by nessa1

I specifcally made reservations for 7 people for Elora's because it was my best friends birthday. I was always raving about this place to any one that would listen. As soon as I get there, I am informed that they gave another party my reservation even after I confirmed the reservation 20 minutes before. After being told to wait a few minutes, the manager makes our party wait for another 25 minutes in the way of the staff. I finally blew my top after they set aside a small cramped table in the corner for 6 people!!! I received no apologizes from the manager at all. Even after it was their fault for letting my table go, they went about their business without a care in the world. As our party was leaving, 2 gentlemen also started leaving because of the long wait and they informed us about a fabulous mexican restaurant on 4th Ave named Cantina. Their food, service, and drinks were excellent. This will be my new Mexican restaurant for future occassions. I am clearly disappointed in Elora's and will not spend another dime in that place!

Cons: Poor Management

Terrific Mexican Food!

by crazyloud1

They have amazing food! It's served shortly after ordering, which is great because you'll starve smelling other's food. If it's a busy night, they bring it even quicker, and they don't really rush you! They'll keep the salsa and chips bowl filled (so don't snack beforehand!). I recommend the fajitas, sizzling, hot and tantalizing!
Amazing place!!! Try the margaritas, sans salt!

Pros: Value, Tasty food

Cons: One horrible server!

Mexican food on the park

by inder22

I was actually excited to have Mexican food in Park slope and decided to go to Elora's after reading citysearch reviews. I think that the food is average with a poor selection of food for vegetarians. There is a great lunch discount menu that I took advantage of. The sangria was tasty and the beers were cold. Atmosphere was average for a takeout place. Overall would only suggest Elora if you had to have Mexican food but were unwilling to travel for better.

Pros: Discount Lunch, Good Drinks, takeout service

my favorite mexican food

by slbklyn

I have been going here for years now. Sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. I love the strawberry marg's, the sangria is good as well. I always order the beef fajitas...enough for 2 hungry people or 3 after eating chips and guac! I love this place...not fancy I think they keep their christmas decorations up all year long, but good mexican food!!!

Pros: inexpensive, quantity, staff

Yummmmm

by marezion

This place is not fancy, but the food is fresh, delicious and well-portioned. Everything we've tried (and we go every single Friday now) has been heavenly. It's worth a trip for the shrimp chipotle enchilada alone. Try their homemade hot sauce, too. My boyfriend loves the beef soft tacos. Just don't drink their wine. Stick to beer, soft drinks or even margaritas and you'll be fine.

Pros: delicious, cheap, homey

Cons: sometimes there is a, wait, crappy vino

Everything is perfect. Prompt seating, courteous service, and delicious food. The Chilliaquiles is the best. Can't find it made like this anywhere else.

The best

by buskerdog

Simply the best around. The combo of Spanish and Mexican has a lot of competition from other excellent joints in the nabe but Elora is the queen. The Chilaquiles, Pollo Guisado, and Chili Con Carne are all unique and delicious. Everything is good. The Cubano and the chicken sandwich with guaq are also great. Even the salsa is the best around. Sit outside or in, meet the friendly waitress, and get sloshed on frosty drinks and beers. I wish I could eat there every day.
