Terrible customer service the lady on the phone was rude and could not answer my questions like were is my tracking number since they billed my card.they would not cancel my order, Jessica at customer service email was no help either she only responded once to my emails, then i was told she is out sick, seems like the standard answer with this company. if they are so big how come only one Customer service rep? i will be cancelling my order and disputing the credit card charges,.
I found this company on line and had a great experience with them. Their customer service people were extremley helpful and patient with me. They also gave me special trade prices which were lower than their advertised sale prices on their site. Their listed sale prices were already the best I could find and they even beat them.
I found Bowery and am grateful that i did. Their service was superb and their prices were amazing. Bill answered all of my tech questions about applications for each fixture i purchased and confirmed items del times when i placed my order. I could not be more pleased with my experience.
DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS PLACE. It took nearly 8 weeks for me to receive my order (after several phones calls were made), and the fan they sent me turned out to be defective. I have left nearly one dozen voice messages and sent off the equivalent amount of emails, and they have never once responded. A TOTAL SCAM MERCHANT....STAY AWAY....
Clearly the positive reviews are being written by their staff. We've had the same issue as all of the other negative reviews. They promised the lighting would be delivered within 14 days and each time we call, we either get a promise for a "call right back" or we get voice mail. Neither of which has led to resolution of our issue. WE WOULD NEVER USE BOWERY LIGHTING AGAIN - REGARDLESS OF HOW GOOD THEIR PRICES MAY BE (after all - it better be cheap since they don't actually send out the merchandise).
Worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Ordered a tiffany lighting fixture & the color I received was not as the item was depicted (Glass was purple, not cream!). I tried to return or exchange the moment I opened the box the day of delivery, but was informed that since I used a coupon code (offered on web page) that "all sales were final". Fine....but I didn't get the item I ordered!???? Stay away.
Bowery lights was by far the easiest company to work with regarding my housing renovation and at the same time they saved me over $2,500 on my dining room chandelier that i actually already received a price from somebody else online. The site was very user friendly to shop, the whole experience was great.
Ive never written a review before until today because I feel like I have to share the great shopping experience I had with Bowery lights. I called their toll free number looking for something that I was told from a competitor was not in stock, I needed it for a specific date for my project to be complete. Lila spent about two hours looking for this particular light and was able to find it for me and have it del within 2 bus days. I am so grateful to Bowery for their service that it actually pushed me to write my first online reveiw.
I am a customer of Bowery, they have one of the nicest showrooms in Long Island with well over a million dollars of inventory. I found their website through their showroom actually and purchased my foyer chandelier from them. Before I bought it I priced it online and nobody matched the price they gave me. Their customer support was terrific and very easy to work with, I highly recommend them and I will be back for my other lighting needs.
I am convinced that some of these reveiws written from some people about bowery is either their competitiors that cant compete with them, or a customer that just has a personal vendetta for some weird reason, Ive never had a better experience shopping online than I did with bowery, their customer service was superb and their prices were unmatched by far.
As with the other 1-star reviews, an order was placed, the credit card was charged, a confirmation was received from the company, and nothing else. No product shipped, all phone calls and voicemails to the company went unanswered (try it - go to the website and call the numbers), emails were unanswered. Even the BBB gives them an F rating (as of Oct 2012) because every complaint was unanswered. Eventually I gave up and had the credit card company begin processing a dispute.
So, you can believe the 5-star ratings that this is the greatest company ever and that these 1-star ratings here and at other sites are somehow a "vendetta" (hmmmm...), or maybe there's something sketchy about this company.
So far my experience trying to get help placing an order and trying to get updates following order confirmation has been dismal. Email replies, phone call returns, tracking number, expected delivery date - similar to what others have reported. Sure wish I had visited this and other sites before placing an order with them. Maybe I'll actually get what I ordered before long and if so will update this post with my experience. Has anyone actually visited this businesses showroom and/or location? Name is shown as both Universal Lighting (what shows on credit card charge) & Bowery Lighting and the address is shown as both Bowery in NYC and also Farmingdale, NY. I'm worried that they're really just a website operating out of someones apartment and perhaps fraudulently getting credit card numbers. If I don't hear from them soon, receive a verifiable tracking #, or get the lighting fixture I ordered I'm going to send them a cancellation and have my credit card company reverse the charges. I too believe that the glowing reports posted must have been bogus ones posted by them. Only 5 star and 1 star ratings are very suspicious. Update: Since I could get no response to several emails I contacted the manufacturer directly. A very helpful customer service lady did some digging and found that they did have my order but it's shipment was delayed due to a back ordered part. The chandelier was received by the end of the following week. Emails (3) were eventually answered by Bowery after actually receiving my order and it's clear they were totally unaware of the actual order status.

I ordered a chandelier from their website on August 22th 2012. They charged my credit card right away and never received any updates or any email about the shipment. Tried to contact them by phone or email several times no one aswered. Filed a charge back with Paypal then the following day they called me just to invent the excuse that their phone and internet lines were cut while remodelling. Really? No they are calling every day to get my credit card. I decided to get my item somewhere. Read review do not buy from them!

I ordered a wall sconce weeks ago and have yet to receive the product or an update on my order status. I have made 4 unsuccessful attempts to contact anyone at Bowery lighting for an update on my order. I have tried to reach them both through email and by phone. They have charged me for this product despite the fact that I have no information on whether they have shipped it. I would not recommend purchasing anything from Bowery Lighting due to their inability to communicate and the fact that they charged my card without confirmation that the product has shipped.

Thanks Bowery. They saved me about $500.00 on outdoor post lights that another company said was back ordered. I called their toll free number and Johanna in customer service confirmed within seconds that they could ship out these fixtures within 2 days after i was waiting for over four weeks from a different company. She also provided me a trade discount because she felt bad for the poor service I received from a competitor. Thank you Bowery.
I am a repeat customer of Bowery because they are the best online store that Ive ever done bus with. I have been doing business with them for the last three years because their customer service and prices are the best you can find on line. I just saw another review posted from what is obviously a disgruntled person who must have some personal issues because their is not any better customer service online. I also checked Bowery rankings on Google and they are ranked 4.6 out of five stars which is extremely high, please form your own conclusions and not from somebody who has a personal vendetta. Bowery thus far has been amazing to deal with.

I would say, the worst online shopping experience I have ever had. Other unsatisfactory reviews essentially describe my own experience - ridiculous delays, rude and ultimately useless customer service, and a huge waste of time. I got tired of daily infuriating calls to customer service (after weeks of waiting for a shipment confirmation) and asked to cancel my order. I still have no idea whether it was canceled, since no cancellation confirmation email followed (I specifically asked for it) and no credit card activity ensued (I specifically asked about it). I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. What's next? They sell your name and credit card information to identity thieves?! Horrible.

I found Bowery from their website and I could not be any more pleased that I did. They have very nice people who answer the phones and call you back when they say they will. They also gave me even lower prices then they had on their website. Products I ordered arrived on time, everything was seamless.
Please dont believe all negative bad reviews you see online. There was a bad review written from somebody that clearly had a personal issue with someone that worked at this company. I used to own an online bus and customers would try and blackmail you to do what they want even if you did nothing wrong by saying they will write a bad review. I am a repeat customer of Bowery and I always receive terrific service by customer service and even better prices. They are very good and honest in their information, i highly recommend them to you.

My expereince went from bad to super Horrible!
After purchaseding several lights from the website, I received a confrimation email. The click here for tracking link did not work on the intital confirmation email. That should have been a red flag!
A week pasted and no corespondense from them on my order. That is when I started calling. Calls proceeded over 10 times, all of which I received a recording stating that they would call me at the end of the business day, never a LIVE represenative. I only recieved 2 call back messages from them. What's more frustrating is they NEVER provided the update I requested, such as shipping day, tracking #, ETA in the message.
Upon waiting over a month for my order without any customer service I tracked down a different phone number for the "showroom".
This call should go down in history! A pleasant women answered the phone and asked me to hold, while she got her manager. Since she didn't put the phone on hold, mearly on the desk, I could here the "gentleman" yelling at her, "why did you do that, I've told you not to put me on the phone". NICE! this is going to be interesting.
When this "gentleman" picked up the phone, I proceeded to give him my info to check the status. He was so defensive off the bat. He couldnl't find my order, after some time he claimed my credit card wasn't able to be charged. Lie #1.....already had the charge on my statement from 3 weeks eariler. He claimed that wasn't the case and that until I could prove so he wouldn't release my order.
I expressed that I called over 10 times for updates (I have the call logs) He raised his voice immeditly and called ME the LIAR!
Amazament that this is how a manager does business.... I was quick to tell him I did get 2 return calls, however none of which provided any updates. He went on to YELL and Call me a Liar several time
Funny because I have call logs and a credit card statment to back me up. HE HUNG UP ON ME, and proceeded to cancel my order.
SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE-----They aren't worth your time OR Money.
The great reviews have to be fabricated, after reading through all reviews its clear, this has happened to others countless times.

Bowery was awesome. I was looking for a couple of outdoor wall mount fixtures and they had the perfect ones. I called their toll free number and they even provided me a trade price and I didnt even inquire about it. I dont know of many business that give you lower prices even when you dont ask for it.
I found Bowery Lighting on the web while looking to replace an unusual track fixture. I ordered two fixtures online and got an emailed confirmation of the order. When nothing else happened for a few days, I tried to track the order on their website, and found that the tracking function wasn't really there - the "click" led nowhere. I called the customer service number during business hours and got a voice mail that assured me I would be called back by the end of the business day. No call back. I called again the next day. No call back. Then I checked this and other sites for reviews, and found what I think are a bunch of fake excellent reviews, and a lot of horror stories. Uh oh.
I waited a few days, then both left a voice mail and sent an email trying to cancel my order. Finally I got a call back from Jessica Pugarelli. She actually had my order, requested that I not cancel the order, and offered to call the supplier and email me back a tracking number. She acknowledged that Bowery Lighting has suffered from bad management and had a reputation for lousy service, but said that she had been hired to try to change that.
I told Jessica that, if she got back to me with tracking information that checked out, and if I received the correct fixtures, I would write a decent review. A few days later she called back with the tracking number that did work, and I did receive the fixtures.
So I am fulfilling my end of the bargain and writing a decent review. I would recommend trying to get Jessica on the phone to place an order, but I would not recommend ordering over the website until they get their systems and their service act straightened out. Jessica herself was great.
I am a professional contractor who does large projects. I never did business with Bowery Lighting before but im very happy that I am now and will be giving them all of my bus. Their customer support and prices were the best of anyone I had previously worked with. Their sales people were tremendous.
Thank you Bowery; They helped me find the perfect crystal chandelier for my foyer. Ive been shopping for one for about a year but never found anything that I loved, and since im spending so much money on it I just dont want to settle for something. Bill was great and he saved me alot of money. Their website and showroom were amazing.
Ordered lights at a reasonable price 4/30/12 still have not received them. Emailed and called them over 15 times to see the status but answer. I spoke with a Jessica and she keeps giving me the run around saying that her manager/boss is out sick or just stepped out. She swore that he will call me back and she pretends to be walking to his desk and put the message on his desk. She did this 2 times. I ordered a Hubbardton Forge light called the company and they told me that Bowerylights.com aka Universal Lights is no longer an account with them. HB Phone: (802) 468-3090 Call for yourself. The lack of customer service here is unacceptable. I ordered a floor lamp, finding a very good price at Bowery - their website said shipping in 7 to 10 business days. Then I waited...and waited...and waited.... When I called them to ask for status, the person answering the phone was rude, and said someone would call back. No one did. I called again - same rudeness, same lack of response. Called again - same result. After the fourth call, I sent an email asking that my order be cancelled, so that I could purchase the lamp elsewhere. I also asked for them to reply to me so that I knew the message was received. Later that day, they charged my credit card for the lamp. I finally sent an unpleasant email, and they said the item had shipped. I did receive the lamp - 7 weeks later.
