Monique K Skin Care Incorporated

I recently sent a friend to Monique K for a facial. This person has a medical condition called Sebaceous Gland Hyperplasia. The only way it can be controlled is with medication, and regular facial treatments. Having had such a wonderful experience, I automatically referred them here. The first appointment went very well- the facialist was excellent, and they were very pleased. About a week later, they began to have a break-out of the condition, and from experience knew that while the facial was done very well, there wasn't enough extraction done. A call was made, and they spoke to the owner Monique. They explained the isssue, confirmed REPEATEDLY that the facial was excellent, but it needed to be more aggressive the second time. The owner Monique, immediately offered to do the facial herself, said that she completely understood the issue, and there was no problem at all. When my friend arrived for the appointment, she proceeded to criticize, harass, and was plain out rude and manipulative. She made out and out untrue accusations about things that were said, and made the entire appointment anxious and uncomfortable. Is this a way to treat your customers?? How anyone in today's business world could even dream about treating a client in such a fashion is incredible. I remember the first time I had a facial there several years ago, she was verbally abused and embarrassed the facialist I had an appointment with IN FRONT OF ME. Whether or her problem is a mood disorder, or she's just simply mean is not my problem, and neither should it be her customers either. I will NEVER, EVER, refer another friend to this place. Too bad for her I have a long list of people who were potentially interested in going there, but after this I put out the word against it.

I wanted Monique to know that even though i don't make it there as often as I should
I do recommend anyone and everyone that needs her touch, she is the Queen Bee
at what she does and her staff is trained from her the same way..

Facials with Monique have made a dramatic improvement in my skin!!! For this reason, I have been seeing her faithfully for over 3 years. In the past, I had tried many products and treatments (even accutane!) but was still plagued by stubborn acne and a reddish complexion but Monique's facials have gotten me to a place where I am really happy with my skin, finally!!! Recently, on a first weekend away with a new boyfriend, I was able to sleep/wake up/emerge from the shower without a stitch of makeup and-- no fear. The same boyfriend even asked me later if I had always had such good skin! First time I had ever heard that.

My work is grueling and am flying constantly but Monique keeps me looking good.

I have had a lot of facials, high end like Mario Badescu and the lower end $30 Chinatown. The facials here are so reasonable and by far the BEST I've had. I would only hesitate to recommend to others because I don't want to compete for an appointment. They're great!

I have been struggling with acne my whole life. I have tried everything on the market, needless to say nothing has helped. Nothing has helped up until i was reccomended to Monique. I have been going to Monique for quite some time now and i must say, she has transformed my face! She is amazing, knowledgeable and very very sweet! I feel really lucky that i was able to find her, because i have tried numerous amounts of facialists and dermatologist throughout the years, and have almost given up hope of ever living with clear skin. So for those of you out there , who are looking for their hope, go see Monique, she has helped me a lot, and im sure she can help you as well!

I have extremely bad acne by heredity and have been going to facialists for 9 years in LA and 11 years out here in NYC. Monique has been the only one who has been able to get my face in control. She has worked very, very hard with me using everything : ultrasonic, sulfur, peels, control masques, stringents. One time I counted over 200 extractions!!! She doesn't miss one spot. In addition, she does a moisturizing hand treatment and relaxes the skin by starting each facial off with a massage. I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate her. -- Evelyn Liu

Monique, with years of experience and European-trained by a medical doctor, is better than a dermatologist for a deep cleaning and facial. Her salon is spotless; her schedule is on time; and her fees are extremely reasonable. No pressure to buy and no spa-like frills??just a great complexion as a result of excellent skin care! Been her client for twenty years.

I have been going here for years and its definitely the best facial around. For years i always had problem skin and now its beautiful and clear. I tried so many other acne treatments but this really works. Plus the prices are very reasonable.

Monique is wonderful and so is her staff. I have been going here for a year and every visit is always pleasant. Not only are the services excellent but Monique's skin care products are superb. Not only superb but reasonably priced, especially since they last so long. "Effective and economical," she said in repsonse to my praise of her products. "That's what I wanted." I should mention that my skin has never looked better: my chronic blemishes are gone and the texture has improved dramatically. They are the best here!!!

I was skeptical, after one visit, I am now conviced that Monique K. is one of NY's finest estheticians, hands down. And I have been everywhere! Just try and get results from any other place in 2 days flat. I went from acne ridden to smooth sailing, absolutley amazing.

Having just left NYC to move back to SF, one of the things I miss most are Monique's facials! I am convinced that it will be hard to find anyone that comes close to what I experienced every month while there. She is amazing with her hands and puts so much tender loving care into each and every facial she gives. She develops a strong bond with her clients and gives more than just a great facial but lends an ear when needed and is always giving more than just skincare advice. I'm insisting that my friends and my friends's friends go to her because I am so far away. She is worth making an appt with, no matter where you live in the city or outside the city. I will truly miss her touch and plan on having a facial with her next time I am in NYC!

Monique K is the best. I suffer from problem skin and Marta has cured it. I've been to many of the top salons in the city and none compare to Monique K. After 2 sessions with Marta, my skin is clear and glowing. The prices are amazing. I admit, I hesitated coming here. The prices are v. low and I was nervous that service would commensurate. Boy, was I wrong. I wish I hadn't waited so long. Furthermore, there is no sales pressure.

Don't come here if you're looking for "atmosphere"...There is no relaxation room, free tea and cookies, comfy slippers, etc. Only come here if you want beautiful skin!!

I never thought I would have soft clear skin again. I've been struggling with acne for 4 years now, and after numerous failed dermatologic treatments, and temporary antibiotic fixes that stopped working when you got off them, I walked into Monique K expecting another disappointment. I must say, I've only known Monique and Martha for a few months now, but I truly feel they have improved my acne, with far less breakouts, and most of all, they've made me feel sooo much better about my complexion. Instead of never letting anyone see me dead without foundation, I am finally confident enough NOT to wear any makeup at all! THANK YOU SO MUCH Monique K!!

The experience at Monique K surpases that of any salon in the City. I have had a terrible complexion since I was a teenager and have gone to many Dermatologists and taken medication with no long lasting success. Monique changed that for me. Thanks to her skill and effective touch, I have the complexion antibiotics and medication could not give me.

The experience at Monique K Skin care was incredible. The relaxing massage set the tone for a facial that is second to none. Additionally, Monique is a pleasure to speak with as she offers excellent stories and tremendous wisdom. I would recommend Monique to anyone looking for a relaxing facial and soothing experience.

I have been to several facial salons and yet time and time again I found the quality of the facial to be fair, and the staff to be unprofessional and cold. Monique's is a completely different experience. Her cozy, spotless salon is run by Monique's stern and loving vision of what it means to provide top notch service to her clients. Not only is Monique herself witty and intelligent, but the facial she gives is incredible, not to mention the relaxing massage that goes with it. You will know right away that you are in the hands of an expert. Her products are also terrific and great for sensitive skin, and as others said, they aren't pushed on you. I tell Monique that she relaxes me so much during the facials I have trouble finding the subway to get home.

I work in the fashion & beauty industry so I have been EVERYWHERE and this is the best. Six months with Miss Monique and my adult acne was basically gone and I had the confidence to stop wearing foundation. Unlike most day spas, she will NOT push products on you (although hers are v. good, especially the Vitamin B Cream day moisturizer). Great massage, great aromatherapy, great glycolics for under $100 ...
