There is no question that Dr. Landefeld is one of the most compassionate and qualified vets around. I have 6 cats and would not bring them to any other cat doctor. She has treated my cats for a variety of conditions from general check-ups to surgery. Never have I had a problem. I would highly recommend this veterinery office. The staff is friendly and genuinely cares about animals. Her pricing is fair given she only treats cats, unlike other animals hospitals who treat various animals. In one instance I needed to repeat a urine test for one of my cats and the doctor did not charge me for the second test. To the reviewers who say their experience was horrible and unscrupulous...be careful. The vet you are using now is human too and will error.

Wow! A few of the reviews of Dr. Landefeld here are proof that people who review businesses online often have major axes to grind. Well, I always make it a point of reviewing great businesses I've encountered because, sadly, the 1 or 2 disgruntled customers are often the only ones who speak up. Well, I would like to say that these few negative reviews are nothing compared to the thousands of people and cats who love Dr. Landefeld and who would not dream of taking their cats anywhere else. My husband & I have been taking our assorted and beloved cats to Dr. Landefeld since the late 80's. Our own children now bring their cats to this practice & over the years we have referred at least 9 or 10 friends to see Dr. Landefeld and across the board I've never heard a complaint from one of them. Her practice is generated, grown & thriving thru referrals. She doesn't spend $ to advertise b/c word of mouth has been more than enough! Nobody I know could even think up a complaint about Dr. L, her practice or her staff. We have two vacation homes aside from our home in Port Washington so we have had the chance to encounter other vets &practices in S. Carolina & Arizona. We received competent care for our kitties in cases of emergent illness or injuries when we're out of state, but these experiences have only made us value Dr. Landefeld and her practice all the more. She is a rare treasure nowadays as many vets tend more towards practicing in large, multi-doctor groups/practices. Dr. L is the sole vet &she practices medicine that is exceptionally thorough &, most importantly, compassionate. She gets to know her furry patients & has a lovely "bedside manner", ensuring that her clients feel comfortable & reassured that their cats are in the best of hands. The office staff have equal tenderness for the cats they care for and, while the office is small and quaint, the homey feeling/vibe" of the practice does not detract from the professionalism Dr. Landefeld & her staff. Our cats have been loved by & cared for by Dr. Landefeld for over 25 years now and I could not be more delighted with the care she provides. She is worthy of the highest recommendation. It is shocking to read the few, unsatisfied reviews of just one or two people: the idea that she would leave a cat to die or mistreat a cat is utterly ridiculous. She adores all the cats she cares for& she always acts in the best interest of the patient. I've known her to stay late in the office to return phone calls, handle last minute prescription requests. In summary- she is un-paralleled as a veterinarian. The negative reviews here do not jive w/ the way the vast majority of her loyal & devoted clients feel so a few bad reviews amongst thousands of happy clients &cats can be truly considered the minority opinion in a sea of contented clients& healthy cats! People usually only open their mouths to complain about an alleged problem. Well I'm here to say that the detractors & bashers are simply insignificant& their claims& vitriol are 100% unfounded.

I have been bringing my cats to this practice for years and years, since before even Dr. Landefeld became owner. She has been tending to our cats for 25+ years and I trust her implicitly. We board our cats, we have trusted her care and expertise with cats who were the picture of health and cats who were senior citizens with every health issue in the book. Regardless of the cat's age and health, Dr. Landefeld is a consummate professional. Where else do you get a call back even on a Sunday when the clinic is closed? She has returned our calls on Saturday evenings when I know office hours end around 2 PM. For anyone who has gone there and gets a feeling like she's trying to pad her bills or overcharge for medication etc.- these people are clearly the kind of people who won't ever be happy and don't know the meaning of the word "satisfied". If you've ever even been to another vet you know that comparison simply on a cost basis shows that Dr. Landefeld's practice is more than fairly priced. The doc and her staff provide an exquisite value for priceless care and, most importantly, true affection and compassion for all the cats they see.

I brought my cat to Dr. Landefeld for many years. In her older age she developed a breast tumor which Dr. Landefeld removed. The tumor returned within a year and I decided to get a second opinion. After reviewing the records from Feline Vet Hospital along with the biopsy results from the lab, my new vet concluded that she clearly had not removed all the margins of the tumor. What is worse is that had she done the surgery right the first time, it may have prevented further spreding of the cancer.
Two surgeries and a total mastectomy later my cat was in good shape, no thanks to the feline veterinary hospital. I had a few more good, healthy years with her that I may not have had if I didn't seak a second opinion.
Do your research people! Make sure your vet goes to constant continuing education seminars. Just because they got their license from a reputable college back in the 70's and 80's does not make them good veterinarians today. The world of veterinary science is always changing and a good vet should be up on every new advance out there.

We have had many cats over the years, and for two decades, I'd say, we have brought them only to Dr. Landefeld. She is a Cornell grad with an extensive cats-only practice, and we have come to trust her skill and judgment implicitly. The unfortunate negative review by "Anonymous" puzzles me, but it does not change my opinion that Dr. Landefeld is a first-rate vet . . .

We have dealt with Feline Vet Hosp for over 25 years, and have been very satisfied with the care and treatment that our cats have received, as well as with the professionalism of Dr. Landefeld and her staff. With her help and guidance, we just celebrated the 19th birthday of one of our three cats. Although we are not in the neighborhood, and have to travel 25 to 30 minutes to get there, we would not want to go anywhere else.

Have brought my cat there several times over the past year. They perform checkups, surgery, and general boarding.

Wouldn't bring my pet anywhere else. I brought my cat to a different vet and he used a noose to remove my cat from her transport cage much to my dismay and horror. The staff at the Feline Vet Hospital have your cats best interest at heart. They will care for your cat with the utmost care and loving touch.

My cat has been going there for almost 10 years and I always felt that the vet was very businesslike and caring (and always full of compliments for the beauty of my cat). I had a disastrous experience several months ago and held off writing a review until I was more reasonable. My cat had an injury and stayed over night there and the vet gave me a call to ask for prior approval for blood testing and to give him an aspirin. After so many years of care, I trusted they were the best things for my cat. She had also sold me Cosequin (to help with joints) to help him in his recovery. I got him home and he proceeded to vomit six times- and I called them right up and left a message on their machine. I was so panicked that I began searching Cosequin online to see if this was the cause and I saw that the product I had bought for $40 at this vet was actually sold for $17-20. This made a red flag go up. I know vets need to make a profit but considering at the lower price there is probably 50% profit anyway this was a 300% markup, which seems unscrupulous. I foolishly fixated on that rather than searching on the cats and aspirin- which is considered very dangerous for cats since they don't metabolize it well and my cat is 14 years old. Later on that night he vomited blood- it was horrific. I had to go to an Emergency vet and had to go through a major pressure drama and was told that he needed $2000 worth of care. The Emergency Vet sent a report to Feline Veterinary Hospital detailing the vomiting- and this ER said that they would never give a cat an aspirin. I would think that any business would be eager to appease a long-time client with roots in the community by paying for the second vet bill and on a human level be incredibly apologetic that their actions had such serious, life-threatening consequences. No. I did not get any sort of response from Feline Veterinary Hospital except to say they would accept the Cosequin for return even though it was opened- and that was said as though it was a grand gesture. I had such respect for this place that it was really disheartening. I appreciate it must be difficult to run a small business but unscrupulous business practices are wrong and their treatment of a client for almost 10 years this way was wrong. My cat is better now and I found him a vet locally- who also looked at me like I was crazy when I told him about the aspirin and told me to not go back to Feline Vet. I told him there was no danger of that. It's a shame.
