Just so the world knows Derek A was canned from this company which is why he has so many bad things to say. When Derek would pick up a shift people would call in because all he would do is bitcch like a little girl, Not to say why he lost his job or anything but the company is far better off without Derek.
Also this review was posted almost right after he got fired

Well Let's see where to begin...Rural Metro WNY Operations is a joke. They are currently run by an ego-maniac named Adin Bradley who only cares about numbers and nothing else. Rural Metro WNY has lost money making contracts such as Amherst and HSBC Arena due to this operations "We Don't Care" attitude.
He is the main reason this operation is going into the ground currently. Rural Metro constantly screws over contracted areas such as Cheektowaga, Hamburg, Niagara to take calls with West Seneca which is not contracted. Also where this operation pays out $350,000 a year to the City Of Buffalo they constantly screw this contract over by not having ambulances available. It's a constant heard on the Buffalo Ambulance Dispatch (ADI) or Buffalo Fire Dispatch "No Ambulance Available" or holding calls is not unheard of. Much of it's Rural Metro's shameless cutting of crews. It's said that the ego maniac on Memorial Day was very upset that no crews wanted to leave early. This man does not care about emergency medicine or the public of WNY, he only cares that you have health insurance that they can bill.
The fleet Rural Metro WNY has is the worst, falling apart, complete with duct tape fix jobs, rusting away, missing hubcaps, poorly done decal jobs, etc. The fleet department is not allowed to repair things properly,so things such as the rear axle of our Pediatric Critical Care Unit blowing off on the Thruway with a patient in the back are not unheard of. Or an ambulance doing a transfer to Toronto breaking down outside Toronto and Adin not caring as the crew sat there for over 16 hours not allocated money from the company for room/board, food anything. Ambulances that have started on fire, an ambulance fleet that over half of it was pulled out of service by the State EMS this year due to inspection issues. Oh not to mention each ambulance has roughly 350,000 miles on it. Just ask that duschebag Adin about the 4 "New" ambulances they got from the Ohio Operation they just closed. 1995 ambualances complete with a ton of mileage ready to breakdown on WNY highways.
The EMT's and Paramedics do a great job but they are constantly being screwed by this company. The morale is lower than a prison camp. they are used and abused by there superiors to make money and that's it. Rural Metro has turned Emergency Medical Services into a joke in Western New York.
If this area had any brains they'd form a municipal service and give these for profit companies like Rural Metro the BOOT. Get bent Adin you tool!

Buffalo would be far better off to get an alternative to Rural/Metro. There must be another ambulance provider to contract with. As a former Rural/Metro employee, I can say from the inside the corporate culture is corrupt to the core.

I have a relative that used to work for Rural/Metro, and all I can say is that I feel sorry for employees of that company. They are the worst of the EMT fleets she has worked for, but in many areas their sickly low bids are accepted by cash-strapped local governments. And just as a recent example of what Rural/Metro is about, they recently voted to let the CEO's earn up to DOUBLE their normal salary, while voting down even a measly 30 CENT raise for their underpaid, overworked Medics. The worst part? Those CEO bonuses come mostly based upon the performance OF THE MEDICS THEY WONT EVEN GIVE A LIVEABLE WAGE!! Next time you deal with a Medic in an ambulance, you should remember they are not only underpaid, they are tired and stressed, and receive NO support of any kind from their employer!

Your company is going under because your fire useless retards only to rehire them a year later. Start by firing Tony Murphy AGAIN and work your way up. Your company will then begin to thrive.

Worst Place to Work Ever: It seems that the problem isn't only in Buffalo, it's also in Rochester. I couldn't agree with you more. Everything you stated is the same way in the Rochester outfit. This is the way they do business nationally. The unfortunate thing, is that they continue to win contracts by making promises that they don't keep, and running their employees and equipment into the ground. In Rochester currently, they are trying to defend themselves in the Supreme Court over very questionable antics done during the procurement process(RFP) over the cities ambulance contract. There are allegations of secret meetings and questionable lobbying that occurred during the bid process. The City's attorneys couldn't even defend city council because they and the Mayor publicly questioned council's decision of retaining Rural/Metro as the primary ambulance provider. An ad-hoc committee had voted unanimously to give the contract to a locally owned ambulance company called Monroe Ambulance, which had much newer technology and a fleet of new ambulances. The lawyer for Rural/Metro tried to get the case dismissed, and the Supreme Court refused. Rural employs alot of good people, but they have done nothing for their communities but collect money. They are not an employee friendly company, and continue to buy contracts with expensive lobbyist and political donations.

Rural Metro of Western New York is completely outrageous! They are by far poor employers, treating their employees like animals. The haven't any quarters for the ambulance crews in the city of buffalo, leaving us on corners, with nothing to eat or drink and ABSOLUTELY no where to use the facilities. In fact, most of us void outside in parking lots with the rats. We work twelve hour shifts and are stuck in the front seat of the ambulance for nearly the entire time, depending on call volumes. Our backs are breaking from that alone. They treat every employee the way they want to, punishing some much more harsh than the others. They have an extremely high turnover rate, and no progressive discipline for certain employees. They have supervisors who will seek certain employees out and target them regularly until they quit or are fired. They will hold us over after our twelve hour shift, because they can, and have no regard for an individuals personal life. They fire employees and hire them back in 6 months. Again, no progressive discipline. There is obvious harassment and discrimination that is being allowed to continue. Many employees talk about going "postal" daily. Many employees are driven to drugs and alcohol. Rural Metro does not care about anything or anyone other than making money. It is sickening, degrading and pathetic as to the way people who save lives everyday are treated. This is a high stress job with low pay and employees who are miserable and unable to just walk away, when buffalo offers little employment as it is. The fact that no one does anything about it is down right pathetic. The public needs to be made aware!

For many years Western New Yorkers had a choice for Ambulance Service, and then along came Rural Metro and put nearly everyone out of business.
The EMT's and Paramedics are well trained, they do a great job, and they are the backbone of the company.
The billing staff is a bit rude and abrupt, but they're busy and underpaid, so that can be forgiven.
If I had a choice, I wouldn't use them again, but given no choice it's better than having nothing.
