This is in defense of ATCO TRANSMISSIONS. I have been dealing with Bob for over 15 years. Never have I been dealt with unfairly or without the utmost courtesy. After reading the review I was very confused so I checked into the matter myself. I found that the complaintant abandoned the vehicle for 8 months at Atco.iT WAS ONLY AFTER Atco threatened to put a mechanics lien on vehicle, did the customer pick the vehicle up. They didnt pay the full balance but Bob gave them the vehicle anyway, Also it was 2 1/2 years later that This person had a problem and called Atco demanding that they take care of the problem. The Shop where the car was at would not divulge any pertinent information regarding what the problem was. Atco offered to repair the transmission for them free of charge regardless, He asked that they have the transmission removed from the vehicle and ship the transmision to Atco (at Atco's expense).Atco would repair the transmission at no cost and ship it back to the customer. That was the last time the customer was in touch with Atco.In addition, the 8 months Atco was stuck with the vehicle abandoned by the customer Atco charged them $00.00 storage. Thus being, this customer's review is not only unfair but also slanderous. It was also suspected that this customer left New York because they were conducting business without proper local and State Licensing and were facing arrest with outstanding warrants issued against them.Just thought you should know contact me shiptoshore23@yahoo

AVOID AT ALL $COSTS!!!!

Atco Transmissions

My neighbor had a good experience with them and so when my car would not shift into drive & I was told the transmission needed to be overhauled & since I was moving to Phoenix within a few months I agreed to have it done($1587.13 and 2 days) I had trouble with it from the day(Jan. 9,2007) I got it back and took it to Atco and they "fixed" the problem. I drove the car one month with continous problems before towing it to Phoenix. Fast forward to April 3,2007 my transmission completely went out in front AAmoco Transmissions (I had driven it since March 10, 2007) Afterwards I was told the transmission needed to be overhauled. I called Atco and was told that could not be the problem, the AAmoco mechanic talked with Atco and gave them the code and other specifics. The AAmoco tech showed me the transmission taken apart and pointed out that there were original parts in the transmission and that only a sensor had been replaced and that the transmission had been taken out and painted to give the illusion of service from Atco. I got my car back 2 days later and it drives like a new car. I had to rent a car for 5 days and the job cost me $2,41.72. I was ripped off by Atco and when I spoke to Bob the owner he could care less and even argued with the AAmoco techs about it. The bottom line is that Atco was aware that I would be leaving for Phoenix and knew that their warranty would be useless and so they scammed me. I would not let anyone in that place work on anyone's vehicle. They are scam artists and do not be fooled by their boasting of how long they have been in business. Not only am I reporting it here, but will also report to them to other websites and the Patchogue and Bellport Chambers of Commerce. Beware of the slick salesmanship of the owner. He is a ruthless and cowardly man. His actions have cost me not only money but has made me decide to forgo the small business man and go straight to nationally recognized brands like AAmoco.
