The only place in the US I have been able to find curry bread (Kare-Pan). So delicious, whenever I visit my friends in NYC I go up and see the place. It is in a very nice area and surrounded in other Japanese places. If they don't have the curry breads, you can go next store to the store on the 2nd floor. They have other stuff too, but you must try the curry bread!

(that's Japanese for delicious by the way) Yes, this teeny tiny Japanese bakery has some of the yummiest pastries and bread I have ever eaten. The girls who work there are very friendly and its just a really pleasant experience every time you go. Definitely check it out if you're in the mood for a snack or perhaps a little dessert after lunch.

I love the Panya bakery. The pastries are soft and delicious. It is Japanese owned and operated and they take pride in their goods. We got a birthday cake for my friend here and my friend absolutely loved the cake when we took it out of the box. It was nicely decorated and rather than writing her name on the cake with frosting, they took a piece of chocolate and made a little easel and wrote our message to her on it. They make crustless sandwiches with ham and cucumber, egg salad, tuna salad and potato salad. These are always fresh and perfect on the go. They also have traditional Japanese baked goods like curry rolls, melon bread, yakisoba rolls, etc. The food here is a great deal. Sandwiches are less than 3 bucks.

PROS: great food, cheap, friendly staff
CONS: none!
