I cant speak for anyone else but I know I am very picky about where my pets stay when and if I ever have to go away I can tell you after an exhausting search it was a pleasure to go find Malibu Pet Hotel they made me feel as though my pets would be safe they asked me a ton of questions to make sure that I would not be a danger to thier other guests before I was even allowed to see anything as they take thier responsiblity seriously I was happy to comply while I was there they turned away someone who had come from another boarding place explaining that they can not take any chances of bringing any virus into there building any way I
was given a tour of the kennel and the play area without any problems all of which where very clean. I left my dog and cat for 5 days and when I came to pick them up they were fine Shaney although happy to see me was in a great mood he was very comfortable with the staff they even took a picture of us when we were leaving Max the cat was fine although he was a little mad at me but I think that was more about the carrier than leaving him. But what really got me as I walked out the door instead of pulling me to the car went right into thier yard wher they walk the dogs that told me more than anything

14 years ago was the first time that we boarded our dogs at Malibu. We LOVE Caroline and wouldn't go anywhere else. They've had the same employees for the past 14 years which says alot about the staff. After the 4th time of boarding there our dogs walked right past us and into the room. I've seen the inside kennel. Yes they use bleach but it's to keep the animals emviornment clean! Also, once while we were on vaca in FL they called just to double check we knew one of our pets had difficulty with stairs. THEY CARE ABOUT THE ANIMALS! We told our vet about them. He drove over and say outside in his car just to observe. He said that he saw the staff not only take the dogs for their walk but interact with them as well and he now recommends Malibu. 14 years says alot. I drive 1/3 hour to take my pets there. I never would if I had even a slight suggestion that it might be an unsafe place.

I went for an inspection of the Malibu Pet Hotel and left with an uneasy feeling. We were only allowed to peek our head inside the kennel with the reason of not disturbing or stressing out the dogs (which is understandable since I know they go crazy when they see people.) From what we could see the place was clean and I could only see one heavily panting dog. There was a person cleaning the floors with very strong and harsh smelling products which concerned me since my dog licks floors searching for crumbs and he would be breathing that in all day with no fresh air. Then we were shown the outside from the upstairs window. We could not go back there and there wasn't ONE dog being walked or played with. I asked to see the playroom where your dog is played with (in bad weather) for an extra fee. They refused to show us the room and said there was a picture of it in the brochure. I asked "why?" and their reason was that it was upstairs. The last time I checked I had working legs. They were obviously hiding something and I really didn't like that. Then with much searching online, I came across a horrifying review from a past employee of 3 years proclaiming that the dogs are not left in the clean kennel you are shown and that they are brought to the dark basement and left on newspaper that is hardly cleaned and never walked. While I took this with a grain of salt, my stomach turned thinking that if I didn't see that review I would have considered that place since it was better than the boarding prisons we saw at other locations. They had 2 dogs staying in a suite in the lobby and one dog in their office. They all seemed fine, but just something about the experience left me curious about why we were kept so confined in the facility and not really allowed to see everything. I would love to know what really goes on in there, but luckily my dog will never find out. Before we left, we were given a nightly rate. We were given a lower rate on the phone than we were in person.

When I first bought my dog Zeke he was a little out of control. I started to bring him to the Malibu Pet motel for training. They kept him for a week and he returned to me a new dog.
