Do not take you car here: Im a 36 year old, blk woman, 511 160 lbs, CPA . I took my VW 2000 Beetle GL with 122K miles to MHNS Auto Care at 11am on Friday Sept 19th, 2014 for an oil change. Originally I wanted a light changed and a MAF cleaned but knew I could do that myself and wanted to first just see if an oil change would help the sputtering. For the past 8 years Ive gone to L&M Auto on Utica ave for any and everything related to car care, but read online that these guys were professional and reputable and most importantly closer. So I figurehey why not its just an oil change. I even brought my own part and oil. Big MISTAKE!

The car has been sputtering for roughly 6 months. I have to sit with it on for 3 mins, then it runs fine, up to 50, Its 14 years old so I try not to push it over 60 mph.
I brought in my oil and filter to MHNS, they change it and then I got o pick up the car..guess what? The car now travels at less than 10mph. I did my usual, wait a few minutes..I even drove it around the block and the car never reached over 30 mph, but barely. Bottom-line it was not acting the same.

Youd think theyd say..hey ok lets figure out whats up after I return with the car. NOPE..i was met with a tone of condescendingwell you drove it here that way. One prematurely balding portly rep that looks like hes just out of mechanics school even said to me.the car hasnt been taken care of. Now how do you even KNOW that? Ive had it for 14 years. You. under 8 hours?!

After a ton of ---GIVE ME A F&*^ BREAK and FIX IT..they agreed to keep it and see whats what. I advised them to just drive the car first, let the oil move around, whatever and see if it accelerates. A guy calls me to say..maybe its a coil in the car. I havent looked but it could be that and it would cost $400. I say ok just look and make sure.

Fast forward to Sat. I call and they say..hey the car is running up to 70mph on the highway, We havent touched it. We think its the catalytic converter. You need to replace that and it will run, not perfectly but how your use to. Im like hmm ok. Let me check with my guy, my paperwork and figure out if thats ok. Basically I wanted to do my due diligence, since my first reaction to sputtering in a VW 2000 is a MAF issue. Also he was suggesting I take the care to Meinke to get some botched converter, saying it wasnt legal and suggesting it like its a GOOD IDEA. Note: ive never taken my car to Meinke, never. Dont you know I pick my car up and it STILL does not run above 10mph. I mean it doesnt even go above 20 and I drove it for block and blocks.
I call to bomb them out again for the car not running, and the guy is a total ass. He ends up saying to me..if you bring it back here the converter is what well change.
Welp guys..guess what? I took the car home..unplugged the MAF and it RUNS. Not only does it run, it runs better than it had BEFORE the oil change.
Why would you immediately tell me to get the converter changed, instead of hey.just unplug the MAF, maybe its the sensor, maybe its not, but test that first? You know whythey dont care about you or your car. Or that fact that everyones a mechanic now with the help of Google or YouTube.

I write this all the say.dont go here! It could be the converter..it could be the MAF..Ill find out when I 1. Ask my usual guy on Monday when hes open and 2 follow that advise up with an actual dealer. These guys are a waste of time. And if they tell you something.question it..It pisses them off, but it works out for YOU in the end. My Dad actually told me to just let it work until it doesn't and then get it fixed but im not comfortable with the MAF unplugged because I TAKE CARE OF MY CAR!!!

After owning several cars and been to many mechanic shops over the years, I must say Minhs is on point. It's a professional environment with quality work and service. It's certainly more money than I'm use to paying for services from smaller repairs shops but I'm sure their overhead is probably higher. Overall, well worth it for me for the level of service.

I wish I can give no stars. .Avoid this place like the plague. They??re very expensive. The prices are comparable to the dealerships. Their shop is clean but you only pay for the cleanliness. They speak nice and are friendly but you pay only for their friendliness. Too many service advisors/writers and they work on commission.

I went here to have a Mini Cooper checked out that I was buying for my dad. I live out-of-state and wasn't allowed to bring the car to the shop I trust close to where my parents live in Nassau County by the people who were selling the car. I took the car to Minh's after an internet search showed that they claim to be Mini specialists. I got a relative clean bill of health from them regarding the car, even for items that I had researched were particularly notorious on Minis for going bad. Less than 2000 miles after my dad drove the car, I had it checked out by our local mechanic when I went to visit my folks. Almost all the items that I had asked Minh's to particularly pay attention to were found to be in need of repair. When I confronted Vinny, the manager, about this, he stood by his garage. He also denigrated the mechanic that I trust and that my entire family goes to after I told him about a belt that wasn't meant for Minis. These guys think they're professional because they aren't as crooked as the rest of the garages in Brooklyn.

Cartalk saved my car from the constant abuse. I've been overly depressed with repeated visit to the Audi dealer in Brooklyn. After trying out Minh's I am very impressed with their customer service and their appreciation for my business. Great staff and service.

I've found my new mechanic! Very impressed with this place! Brought my car in right when they opened on a Saturday at 8am and it was done by noon.

Got a 30k service in my mini cooper and it was less than $280. They changed oil, air filter, gave it a tune up, fuel injector cleaning and overall safety inspection. Car purrs like a kitten now.

I'm convinced the dealer (Manhattan Mini) where i bought this and 'supposedly' got service under warranty didn't do squat.

Look...nobody likes it when their sled breaks down or needs professional work. But, when it does happen, Minhs Auto really does provide a great combination of superior workmanship, competitive pricing, and compassion. This is a rare combination when it comes to the auto repair industry. These guys work on most european cars. I bring my Audi A4 here and I recommend them highly.

This is just a phenomenal auto repair company. They did a great job on the repairs for my bmw for a reasonable price, which is hard enough to find these days, but their customer service exceeds any service company I've ever known! They were very timely with their updates. Customer service and how a company interacts with the community is really important to me, so to match such high quality service with the overall value of the repairs makes this place my #1 destination for all bmw service!

So after my experience here, all's I can say is....wow. 40 bucks to get new brackets attached to my exhaust system and stop that annoying clankity-clank I was listening to. I said, $40 including labor? Yep, they said. I said, what about the last mechanic that told me my whole exhaust system would need to be replaced because of this? They lied, he said. Wow...\r\n$40 barely gets you an oil change these days, and I got an honest answer and a problem quickly fixed. Awesome.\r\n\r\n

I've brought my 2005 Audi A4 and 1997 Honda Civic in for service. Matthew was friendly, competent, honest, quick, and clearly communicated what service was required at which mileage intervals. I gave him leeway to perform whatever services were needed on both cars, and was pleasantly surprised that minimal action was required, meaning I spent far less money than I had been bracing for. His follow up thank you notes are a nice, professional touch

I have been very happy with this place. So much so, I hesitate to write this review because the one critique I have is that they are so busy. Like many of the others on here, I'm always worried about getting duped by mechanics since I know nothing about cars. At Minhs Auto, I've never felt like they were trying to swindle me. The first time I went here it was because my check engine light was on. He said the code indicated a leak in the exhaust system (I think - shows you how little I know about cars). He suggested I just try buying a new gas cap from the dealer, which would be cheaper than having him do the smoke test and is often the cause of this problem. If it didn't work and the light came back on, then I should come back. He didn't charge anything for this consultation and I was impressed that he didn't try to get me to pay for a smoke test. I've been coming back ever since.

As a woman I've always been a little weary of taking my car to get looked at in fear of being taken advantage of. (i.e. There's a tiny mythological creature in your exhaust) Anyone? This is the first time my bmw has given me problems ... Anyway. I called early in the week and made an appt. for that Friday. I was greeted by Vinny who was very friendly and they immediately started looking at my car while I waited. I was there for 15-20 mins when Vinny explained to me that my water pump was leaking and I was lucky it hadn't caused any extensive damage. Not only did they not charge me to diagnose my problem (like all these big dealerships usually do) but Vinny took it upon himself to find out if my powertrain warranty covered this problem over to the second owner. It did! So I took my car to the dealership and the problem was fixed that day. For free. Awesome.

I am one of those people who typically fix their own cars. However, if something is really tricky (or I am feeling lazy) I take my cars to these guys and wow...

This shop is filled with honest, knowledgeable, talented and quick working mechanics and offers reasonable prices too (about half of stealership prices, but not as cheap as the guys who work out of a van in an abandoned parking lot).

Also the top notch services at Minhs are conveniently located close to manhattan.

I have never felt to taken care of! Being a woman, it is difficult to trust a car mechanic. That is, until you find someone who whips out a book in the middle of a busy day to show you exactly what is wrong with your car before fixing it. After years of going to these guys,I feel more knowledgeable and confident in dealing with small car problems on my own as well as feeling confident my car was getting the proper care when needed. Tam is honest, reliable, professional and a true expert in his field. He'll do wonders with your car and show you how to maintain it. I highly recommend this shop.

When I first bought my 2001 PT Cruiser (in 2003, so it's used), I went to Strauss on 4th Avenue. OMG, the wait. Every time I went there, I could plan on 4-5 hours of waiting, and it never made sense. Just disorganized and mismanaged, although the mechanics are fine. Anyway, I decided to give MINHS Auto Care a chance, and plan to stay with them. From the first call (to Adam) to make the appointment, to bringing the car in, it's a very professional operation. They give me a realistic time frame and I usually wait at the Dunkin' Donuts down the street. I haven't had any major problems with the car, but go there for the annual emissions test (takes at best, 45 minutes and I'm out of there). Best to make an appointment before heading over, of course. And I also bring the car in before my annual trip to visit family (1200 miles roundtrip). They've never overcharged me, or scared me into spending ridiculous sums of money for unnecessary repairs. And a couple of times, I've dropped by to check the pressure on my tires. They've been very accommodating and never charged for that. Just an all around nice place and I highly recommend them.

When I recently got my ignition coil replaced, Minh's charged me as much as the VW dealer, which is notorious for overpricing. When I asked Vinnie, the mechanic at Minh's he said that the VW dealers always overcharge. When I told him he was charging me as much as them (only $4 less on a $500 job) he just stared at me and said nothing. If you are going to pay this much, you might as well pay for the quality and guarantee of a dealer.

I had my Honda in to the dealer for a recalled airbag, of all things, and they took the liberty of finding $1800 worth of suspension and front-end work in the meantime. Minh's found the *exact same problems*, fixed them for *1/3 the price* (including tune-up, oil change, etc), and got it back to me in one day instead of two. What more can I say? Best shop ever. I'm a customer for life.

Went there for the first time recently and came away extremely satisfied. The final bill was lower than their estimate and they didn't give me a laundry list of things that needed to be done like other places. super friendly and trustworthy.

Ripped me off for $600- still have the same problem (oil warning light-alarm) as when I left my car with them. I would recommend avoiding this shop like the plague- when I went back with my car they said it "must have been something else" and that i would have to pay them again....$80 to "re-diagnose" and whatever the repairs would cost....I shouldn't have paid them in the first place, but the car worked okay for two days until the problem started again.

I bought my car from the Volkswagen Audi place in Bay Ridge. My car recently went out of warranty and I was called in for scheduled maintenance. I thought it was quite odd when they told me now I have to do hundreds of things to fix my car. I decided to take my car to a non-dealership and tried Minhs. So I went in for an oil change and said please check out the whole car because I am going on a long trip. The only thing they said I needed was a new air filter and washer fluid so I was happy. They seem to love my VW.

I hate having to go the the dealership when my car has problems. Stupid Toyota dealer. The appointments takes forever, everytime I call Im on hold like forever, & to pay off the bill they give me takes like forever. After I found out about Minhs its just been so refreshing. They go out of their way to make sure Im always happy. The personalized service they give me deserves 10 stars.

My husband & I drove our Ford focus in for a quick oil change. They had us in and out pretty quick. They offered a courtesy inspection on the car & found several things that was neglected by our last oil change place probably because it was stuff the jiffy lube guys doesn't repair so they ignored it & let us drive out that way. I was impressed with how the service rep there are so knowledgable. He made us very happy with maintaining the car there & to drive out knowing the car is in good hands.

I exhuasted myself driving around getting estimates for a new alternator for my toyota, Minhs fell in between with reasonable in price. Since their place is much more cleaner & professional, I felt I am getting the best value here. Their service adviser there is a bit of a sweet talker, but he didnt sell me anything I didnt need. I liked how he prioritized things for me and recommended repairs to meet my budget. I'll be going back to fix other things my car needed.

This place is sweeet. They are very tech-savvy, just what I need for someone with my schedule. Im always on the run so when I drop off my car with a problem I would get a blackberry message from them with my problem identified with pictures & estimates attached. One click later on my phone & I'll know my car will be ready for me to pick-up at my desired time. Ohh yeaah!

I have been going to Minh's autocare for many years now. I always trust him to work on all my cars from service engine light problems to transmission repairs. He is always honest and treats me like a family member. I never have to worry about anything when I bring my car to him because I know he will do right by me each time... every time.

These guys are acdelco mechanics whom specialize in my Impala. I had an electrical problem that the dealer wanted too much to fix so I looked up local acdelco shops and found these guys. The place is quite clean and organized. The customer service rep were very helpful and knowledgeable. They were able to fix my car when the dealer said only they will be able to do it. Thanks Minhs'!

Before I decided to go to this shop. I wanted to see how good they were. I was asking the mechanics questions about my car and they were right on the money. They are quiet knowledgeable when it comes to the BMW's. The staff is very courteous and professional. The transaction was very smooth, I received my car back nice and clean.

I made a pit stop in here because my brake light was on & I was freaking out. The customer rep there was well mannered and got me to relax. They checked it out and turns out I was just low on brake fluid. They topped it off and didn't charge me : )

I was referred here because my regular repair shop doesn't fix Hybrids. I had a check engine light & they had the car ready the next day. I guess the price is not bad for a problem that requires some specialty.
