Bacchus Wine Bar & Restaurant

The bar has wine tasting and includes a very extensive wine menu. They also have great appetizers and a cheese sampler with your choice of several excellent, unusual cheeses. Never had dinner there but heard it is good.

There was a brief misunderstanding at the restaurant, I'd ordered a bistro steak, a smaller appetizer and a salad, the waitress came out and told me that they were out of that particular kind of meat and that they would substitute the New York strip steak for the bistro steak, I said "fine", had a very enjoyable meal but then discovered that I'd been charged for the New York strip rather than for the bistro steak. If I would it known that, I just would not have ordered. The meal was pleasant, the service was good, but the price is a little steep.

Located in downtown Buffalo on Chippewa St., Bacchus boasts of a plentiful selection of wines. Parking can be found around the area for a cost (typically $5). This fine dining restaurant though might put a dent in your wallet. Food is average when you factor in the cost aspects. The atmosphere is excellent for a romantic date.

The best part of Bacchus is the wine bar. They have a huge selection of wines to choose from, many of which you can sample by the glass or in a flight. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to tell you about the wine. It is a little pricey, but worth it.
