We are new to Kingston and have checked out Armadillo Grill already a couple of times which was nothing short of spectacular and worth every penny...
I have lived in the southwest for 6 years and know my Mexican food. When we walked into Rosita's we saw the Best of Hudson Valley 2008 awards so we thought it might be as good as Armadillo down the road... boy were we wrong!!!

The wait time for our drinks& food was TERRIBLE! Finding our waitress took forever... WAY OVERPRICED!!! we paid way too much for plates of rice and beans...Not that we are big eaters but our plates were extremely SMALL and BLAND even the salsa had no taste to it.... oh and ordering veggie fajitas should not cost 15 bucks I ordered 2 cokes which came to 5 BUCKS!! My husband had a margarita which had NO ALCOHOL in it... I ordered veggie quesadillas I got a plate of carrots and zucchini THATS IT!!! they gave me 2 small tortillas when I asked for more I was CHARGED!!! IT WAS ALL AND OUT PATHETIC!

I am glad we have a sense of humor because It was terrible. the sooner that place goes out of business the better for the people of the KIngston area. If you want tasty Mexican fare in Kingston go to Armadillo Grill. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Pros: VIEWS OF WATER

Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE

Great location right on the Rondout. You get a fair deal for your money. Great mexican dishes with a great view.

The first things I noticed walking into Rosita's was the spaciousness off the dinning room. You are not sitting on top of the diners next to you. I found the food to be flavorful and the views of the Hudson River were an added benefit. I did not feel rushed to finish my meal and felt comfortable lingering with my dinner party. The staff was attentive and accommodating. This is a great option for larger dinner parties.

Before I went to Rosita's, I heard some incredible things about it. After going there at least 3 or 4 times, I've come to the conclusion that we really only go there for the experience of sitting on the patio and watching the boats go by. The food is "eh" at best, plain Mexican food and every time I've eaten there I've felt there could be something done better. The salsa usually tastes like marinara sauce, but the service has always been excellent and I love sitting outside.

The drinks are good, the staff is attentive and despite the fact that some of the plates are somewhat expensive, you always walk out feeling full. Another thing I particularly am not a fan of is the fact that they somehow season their sour cream, which is gross. There's no need to stir parsley or cilantro or whatever into your sour cream. I'd like to see flautas on the menu, but tonight I ordered chimichangas and they were quite delicious. Good rice and beans, hot food and delicious guacamole. I've been to many better Mexican places, but none have the charming enclosed patio area I will always want to return to.

Pros: Great service, attentive staff, wonderful patio & interior, good drinks.

Cons: Average food, lame condiments (sour cream & salsa), slightly expensive.

Their new location on the waterfront is a wonderful location to hang out and drink margaritas, but the big new building doesn't have the same warmth as the old one. Still, the food is decent mexican food, not spectacular but certainly adequate. And the Hudson River is beautiful from their deck.

I was very pleased with this restaurant. The food was incredible, the menu was very large with both Mexican and Spanish dishes. The service was prompt and very friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed with great views of the Rondout. I have been there a few times with my girlfriend and she loves the place as much as I do. The frozen Margaritas are dangerously good.

Very pleased! Friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere on the water, great quality food. I love that there is outdoor dining right on the water in the warmer weather. I have been there several times so far, and I have been consistently pleased.
