I've went to this Dallas BBQ location twice. The first time I got the sticky wings which were okay. The second time I got the foot long hot dog which was just okay as well. Both times I got the virgin pina colada which was DELICIOUS and worth going for... but that's about it. The food was just okay for me, the drinks were great and the service was bad. No one checked on our table and when they did, my friend had a question about one of the dishes because he has an allergy and the waitress acted like he was asking her to move the restaurant... like it was such a hassle to simply ask the manager about 1 dish. The manager was very nice and accommodating to us but that's about it. Tried it twice and they basically failed so I won't be back again!

I came in once, the meat wasn't fresh at all, the fries were awful and the place was very busy (I still can't figure out why), therefore the service appalling. I will never ever come back to this place

worst experience in times square
Inappropriate behavior of management - I went to this restaurant on Saturday night Nov.26th 2011 we had only walked in at about 1:20am (Sun am) -- if the restaurant was supposed to close why take our money if your not even going to let us eat our meal and finish our drinks?

""Ronnie"" male manager spent an hour rushing and compelling customers to leave because the restaurant was ""closing"". I had to use the bathroom and he even decided to walk into the women's bathroom and then proceeded to keep the door open standing in the doorway threatening me to have me leave without even sending a female in as it was ""closing"" -- however about 30 of his staff were still cleaning etc and I am quite bathroom shy. If the restaurant was closing why let us in to eat to rush us out before we even finished our meal? He aLSO had a full blown argument about me not using the bathroom but I ask you how am I supposed to feel comfortable doing so with the door wide open and him in the doorway?

Furthermore, I tried to reach the corporate office at 212-873-2004 to discuss this with them to be told they have no corporate office to speak with - kinda strange considering how many locations they have...

The food was pretty good, pricing is in a good range, and the serving size was more than adequate. Why then only 2 stars, you ask????? Service as exceptionally terrible.. I finally got my waiter's attention to tell him I needed a fork and some extra napkins (ribs are good but messy). He actually ROLLED HIS EYES and eventually I got what I asked for,but my date was more than 1/2 done with his plate by the time I started. I felt as if he was calculating the tip in advance, and decided that since there was just 2 of us, he wouldn't get what he though he deserved, so why go the extra mile. Would I go back? No

Absolutely horrible. The entire restaurant was filled with loud classless urban youths. I would not eat here again if my like depended on it. I felt like I was eating in a bad school cafeteria. HORRIBLE!

My friends and I went to this place after it was recommended by the hotel receptionist locally. Being from Los Angeles the 1st impression that I had about the place was like other horrible huge food chains. But we decided to give it a chance. The waitress was rude and appeared not to like her job. When the food came out, it was lukewarm and not like ""dallas"" tx bbq at all. We were hungry being fresh off a flight so we ate some of it.

We asked for the manager a little bit into the meal, but before he came out he made the waiter ask what we wanted which flagged a bad sign. But the manager came and we explained that we were displeased with the food and quality of service. The manager had very poor customer service and lack of understanding, then later said he could not do any thing about the situation. We would of accepted a simple apology but we didn't even get that.

For this place it appears that the lack of food quality and customer satisfaction is starting with management on down. Its important for an establishment to realize that repeat customers come back because they like the people that represent the company and offer great food, but for this place I would give it 4 thumbs down.

This is my third trip to NYC but my first time at Dallas BBQ. I'm a BBQ fan, so I was excited to try their food. It was the worst restaurant experience ever!!! Our waitress was horrible, felt unwelcome. She came by for 2 times, just to take order and then we had to ask other waitress to tell her to give us a check. Her attitude was not acceptable. For the food, ribs were great but Steak was way overcooked and had no taste at all. \r
\r
Overall, Not recommended at all!

I've never been to a restaurant that didnt offer free refills, atleast for kids. I got served my drinks, ordered, than waited about a 1/2 hour for my food to arrive. By that time my soda was half finished and flat. The waitress came by a TOTAL of 1 time berfore we asked for the check. Then had the nerve to ask if ""We want to keep the change"". REALLY?!?!. Her tip was added to the bill, and I would've been more inclined to let her keep the change had she done some actual waitressing. All and All the food was pretty good. I reccomend the Dallas BBQ burger.

Cons: Wait time for a table

I've been calling in for the past 10 years and always head here first when I am in the city. The Sticky WIngs are a must as is the pulled pork - in fact whatever you order you're gonna be happy! The frozen drink are also great fun.

Great place to chill out and people watch - happy days !

There's nothing better than pulled pork and a texas size lemonade! It's pretty cheap too. I love going to dallas bbq to watch games and get some awesome chicken wings. we always get a ton of apps and those huge texas size drinks. i think they're like 7 bucks... great deal for NYC. Last time i got a naughty lemonade. it was awsome

I came to this location on my vacation to New York about 4 times and that's something considering the high cost in New York. All I ordered was the Shrimp Platter And the Crispy Fish with Shrimp Platter and man was it something. I also love that it was next to a movie theater, a perfect fit.

I committed a cardinal sin for anyone who lives in the tri state area surrounding NYC. That's right; I went into NYC during the holidays. But not just any holiday. I went the Friday before Christmas. I was meeting up with a friend who works in NYC for lunch and immediately realized: what was I thinking?? We walked to BBQ's upon her recommendation. The place was crowded but to my shock we didn't have to wait. They seated us right away. The food was great (forget oysters, sticky wings should be the new aphrodisiac!) and the drinks were strong (yummy). The service was fast but what I liked best of all was after we were done eating they didn't rush us out which you would think they would given that it was during holiday prime time. In fact, we actually had to eventually flag our waiter down and ask for the check!\r
\r
The only con I could list would be that our server wasn't attentive but that could be because of the holiday crazyness. All in all I would go back and recommend it to friends (Actually I already have) :-)

This is the place to be during happy hour! HUGE drinks available at all times, but so great during happy hour when your 20 oz alcoholic drink is $3-$5. Good food added to the mix can only make it great for all.

I love BBQ's atmosphere, quick service, and drinks, however, I recently visited on a Friday and it seems like the entire restaurant was filled with kids under the age of 19. It was very loud and chaotic. The staff was running around so fast cleaning tables and serving, you could hardly concentrate on your conversation. I have been to many of the BBQ locations, but it was mostly during the week or on a Sunday. I would avoid the 42nd St Times Sq location on Fridays and maybe visit 23rd or 72nd street locations.

Granted - Dallas BBQ is not your upscale restaurant, however, when you are hanging out with your friends and you want to have a good time and great drinks, this is definitely the place to be. The food, in my opinion, is the same at every Dallas BBQ around the city (I have been to all locations). I have never had a problem with their service or their portions of food. If you want b a n g for your buck, this is the place. \r
\r
This is just your average BBQ Spot. If you are looking for something more authentic, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for fun and great frozen drinks and wings Dallas BBQ is your spot..

For tourists only. Tourists with incredibly bad taste.\r
\r
Everything about it is big & fast & cheap. If that's what you want, and you don't care that your food is the consistency of low-quality rubber and tastes like expired A-1, then Dallas BBQ is just right for you. I really don't understand why anyone would come to New York and eat at something that is essentially a chain store steakhouse that wouldn't even pass muster in a Midwest strip mall. But it's convenient and it's fast, I suppose. If that's what you want though, save $5 and go to McDonald's instead.

I love all the Dallaz BBQ restaurants but especially this one because it has three floors so I never have to wait to be seated! Their texas size strawberry daquiris are too die for! My favorites are the baby back ribs and the honey basted chicken. Their hot wings are also good and they are huge so I can only eat a 1/2 portion. The sides are excellent! Try their mac and cheese! And their prices are very reasonable!

The food is inconsistent; the burgers are good when cooked properly (a 50/50 proposition); the chicken is really dry and the ribs aren't even the best in a 3-block radius... Their in-restaurant service is slow (30 minutes from arrival until served with entrees), their delivery is VERY slow (usually an hour, even for nearby locations, and they often forget items)... Their managers generally act as if they don't care about their customers... Beware their online service (which operates using faxes that are often ignored).\r

When you pay 11.99 for food, it better fill you up but in this case, it did not. I ordered the Chicken & Ribs Combo plus yellow rice and cornbread. The meat portions were small. I wouldn't be totally exaggerating if I say it was close to the size of a kid's meal Lots of rice, but you know for 12 dollars, you're paying for the meat and while the chicken was good and so were the ribs, it wasn't worth 12 dollars. I would have given the establishment 3 stars, but there was a mother who was with her son sitting right next to my table. They waited for a half hour for their food to arrive but it never came and me and my friends got served before them and we only have to wait about 12 minutes. Needless to say, the mother got angry and left with the son. \r
Because of that, I'm giving the Dallas BBQ on 42nd street, 2 stars.
