Reviews for Bay St. Animal Hospital

Ratings_icons Dr. Cohen

Donna H.

Dr.Cohen has to be one of the best veterinarians on Staten Island. He has cured my cat Sundance several times. Sundance had clots and stones in his bladder which required major surgery, Sundance also had some issues when we adopted another pet and also when he got fleas one year. Dr. Cohen was so compassionate and caring on all occasions. Sundance is not a very good patient, but with the help of his staff who knew just how to handle Sundance, he always came out 100%. I recommend Bay Street Animal Hospital to everyone who wants the best care for their pets. All the doctors are great, there is grooming and a pet hotel on the premises and the environment is bright and cheerful. There is also parking which is a plus.

Ratings_icons Bay Street Animal Hospital is Affordable, Amazing, Compassionate!

Kimberly R.

I just took my cat there after she woke up vomiting and had some blood in her urine. I can not put into words how much I loved the staff here. They were polite and they genuinely wanted to help my Abby. She was treated perfectly and with so much care. They were affordable, which in this economy, is most important. They have parking on the premises for their clients. And they sell treats to hide pills, that they call pill pockets, so that you can put the pill in and your cat will eat it. Abby loves them!

I first brought my dog to Bay Street Animal Hospital under emergency circumstances a few years ago. Her prognosis was poor and the staff there assured me that they would do their best to make her comfortable and provide her with all the necessary care to make her pull through. She spent almost 2 weeks at the facility and needless to say, she pulled through and is doing great. The staff is truly amazing. They are intelligent and very compassionate. I felt comfortable leaving my family member in their care. I continue to bring all 3 of my pets to Bay Street Animal Hospital and would recommend them to anyone for both routine or urgent care.

They Just dont have their act together, too many Indians and not enough chiefs. the compassion is NOT authentic. and It seems to be all about the Money, AHHHRG!
I left there very upset, and on the way home I decided to stop at RoseBank Animal hospital its just a few blocks away,
if youre looking for answers and compassion, I would recommend this place highly. (and their pricing is better)
They also have a free consultation coupon in the yellow pages.
(just ask them about it if you dont have one)
If youre an animal lover like me, then go to the RoseBank Im betting youll be very satisfied

Ratings_icons Great Vet and cool accomodations

I came to Bay Street Animal Hospital for a second opinion... My Lab was limping and my other Vet had put her on anti-inflammatory - then went on and on about possible surgery ( all this without x-rays)Well at Bay Street the dog was x-ray-ed, the problem is an arthritic knee. No cure - but meds make her more comfortable. This Place is CLEAN, the staff is very nice and they have a very cool place for their clients to hang out (Kennel)

This is a full service veterinary hospital. They even do grooming and dental care. The pets do sAY OVERNIGHT IF NECESSARY. tHEY ARE A CARING AND PROFESSIONAL STAFF. They will even make house calls if need be although that is a bit expensive. There is parking on the premises. They accept all major credit cards which is good because it gets to be an expensive ordeal.

Pros: Clean Facility

Ratings_icons Example: great place for good bread

Veterinary Care :
Dr. is Good, but they milk you for all they can get. They medicate unnecessarily. the Staff is cold and phony. I don't like that they take your animal in the back and you can't see what they are doing. Then they charge you for tests they said they did, you don't know because they took them in the back.

Boarding:
I was thinking of boarding my dog there last summer, I asked to see the facility. They didn't want to at first. when I insisted, they left me waiting for about 20 min. (my guess to clean up) when I finally went back there, it smelled, and when I asked about an exercise area she told me they just take them out back to go to the bathroom 3 x's day. I asked to see the outside area. it was so small 6x6 and the concrete had fecal stains on it and urine stains. The girl told me they usually clean that down but they were too busy. The dogs looked bored and depressed. I asked if someone plays with them, she looked at me up & down and replied of course we do. She looked like she herself was overwhelmed, tired, and annoyed. she asked me if I wanted to book a reservation- I said "No thank You". I took my dog with me on vacation.

The End!

Pros: Clean facilities

Cons: Very expensive and they milk you, rude and cold.

Ratings_icons My animal hospital forever

robertaraeburn

I've been a client of Bay Street Animal Hospital since they opened. My animals get the best care without question. I drive from the other side of the Island past 4 or 5 other vets to work with Drs. Cohen and
Cavallaro because I know my dogs and cats will be cared for professionally and lovingly. These two doctors will always tell me the truth about their care and not influence me hoping to make more money--the animals are the most important thing. When you love animals as much as I do, you want their medical care the absolute best and that's what they get at Bay Street.

Pros: Good parking, safe area, comfortable waiting room, appts on time, cheerfull staff

Cons: far away, otherwise none!
