If you think the food here is good, think again. My boyfriend works there as a busboy and he says they are horrible. First of all, they don't let the waiters or busboys keep the tips they make! He also told me they reuse everything. He said they reuse the bread and if it falls on the floor, they pick it up and put it back on the plate. What a crappy and disgusting place. Gross! Do not eat here!

This restaurant is one of the best I have ever been to. I attended a bridal shower and the service was great, the food was amazing and they accomodate to everyone. A friend of mine was a vegetarian and almost didn't show up because most restaurants do not satisfy her needs. They accomodated to her no problem.
Right next door is the cafe part of the restaurant. I went on a saturday afternoon with 2 friends. The food here was phenomenal, however they could use some of the waitresses next door in this part of the restuarant. The waitress did not come to the table once to see if everything was okay and even yelled at the guy with the bowtie on the floor in front of everyone.
All that aside, the restaurant is great. I recommend it to everyone. If you don't want to sit in the cafe (which I don't recommend), you can order the cafe food in the resaurant part as well.

If you like poor service and even worse food, then by all means come to this restaurant. Cold calamari, hot onion soup with stale "crouton" served without a spoon, overcooked rack of lamb (asked for medium got well done with cold madeira sauce), bland chicken parm, Ceasar salad tasteless with capers?, soggy french fries and hard, tasteless sweet potatoes and overcooked white potatoes. Service was also very poor, food delivered without the proper utensils.

There are several rooms, including a small back room which can be used for parties. The service here is very good. The prices are reasonable. The food is good as well. It's a great place for special occasions or a special dinner.

The Greenhouse has been around for a many years and is very popular on 3rd Avenue. They've got a varied lunch and dinner menu and have a lovely "garden room" in the back of the cafe. They have a full bar and host small private parties such as anniversary and wedding rehearsal dinners.
PROS: Nice Food/Service...Nice Location
CONS: Parking Is Rough On 3rd Avenue

I tried to take my mom, sister and niece there for a Sunday brunch. What a disaster!!! We waited an hour to be served drinks and appetizers! My poor niece ordered a fruit platter and it smelled like old fish. This is outright dangerous!!! I don't know what type of sanitary conditions are going on in that kitchen but we were not the only ones sending back the fruit plates. It was an epidemic! It was disgusting. So all in all after an hour and half we left upset, hungry and stressed out. They were still seating people as we were leaving and the whole restaurant was in a uproar about not getting served. People starting clapping when they received their food. Bad management all around. I really feel sorry for the staff of young people serving everyone and having to deal with all the complaints. Avoid this place like the plague!

My husband and I loved this place, so we decided to get married there... yeah- big mistake. The food was eh, the service terrible. They didn't do anything that we spoke about in our discussion with the manager there there was absolutely no organization, the seating chart they provided to me was INVERTED thereore we had to set up a table for us and our bridal party on what was to be the dance floor. Not only that - THEY LET PEOPLE COME IN, SIT AT THE BAR AND DRINK. WTF. After this experience, I will NEVER step food in that place again, which is a shame becaues I really enjoyed it.
Pros: affordable?

I went for Brunch at the Green House Cafe on Jan 25-09 we were seated right away, it took 30 minutes to get a cup of coffee. and 1 hour to get our food.

My boyfriend and I went there for New Years Eve and we had a great time! I am at Greenhouse pretty often and I am never disappointed. We had a very energetic waitress! I forgot her name but she was just great! Always checked on us. They had a DJ and the music was good. Maybe too many slow songs for New Years Eve but it was still fun. The prix-fixe menu was affordable! The food was delicious. I loved the stuffed mushrooms!!! We will be back very soon!

I have been going to green house cafe for years, i only go because my wife likes the place, and i have always got the worst treatment from the staff, but for the first time there was this young lady that took care of us name jumana i hope i got that right, make sure to always ask for her, she just made us love this place more and more, plus good food too wont miss this out.

This is a mainstay for Bay Ridge dining with people usually defauting to the Greenhouse when holidays are coming around and they haven't made reservations anywhere else. The food is always great and the wait staff fluctuate in level of service, as should be expected.

I went there the other night for the first time after viewing the commercial..."okay" food, terrible service. The place wasn't busy, mabye the waitress had 2 or 3 tables, but the she was terrible. She didn't get our order right, never checked in on us...terrible service.

I live the area of this wonderful restaurant and I dine there very often. There is the Greenhouse Cafe and the Greenhouse Restaurant; however, they are connected. We always visit the Cafe if we want a relaxing night out because the waiters never bother you. The Cafe has the same menu, and you can have a table inside where the brick walls are exposed and the cafe has more of a rustic feel, and you can also have a table outside in the back. Greenhouse Restaurant saved our last year's Valentines Day, because we were snowed in and couldn't go anywhere. In fact, we both agreed that the meal that we had that night was one of the best Prix Fixe Menu compared to all of the fancy restaurants in the city. The meal had the same portions as if you were ordering from the main menu (the portions in this place are big) and the price was unbeatable. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes to have a delicious freshly prepared meal and not have to pay for it as if it was made out of gold.

I have been to the Greenhouse Cafe on several occasions and on holidays. I can honestly say it is one of the best on 3rd Avenue. No matter what day or time you go the service is excellent and the food is always hot and delicious. The cost of the food is excellent for the quantity you receive. You never leave hungry. I have also been to their Sunday Brunch. This is one of the best. Their home made muffins are the best in Bay Ridge. The food is excellent and plentiful. As for the owners, waitresses, waiters and bar staff, you couldn't ask for a better place. Each and evey one treats you as family. If you are looking for a place to go this is the place for you. I would recommend it to everyone especially if you have children, children are always welcomed here.

i've wanted to write a review for a while now ... i went to the greenhouse cafe for a bridal shower and it was great. it was a bit tight in the greenhouse portion but they did squueze in alot of family members ... it was really pretty in there...the service was GREAT and the food even BETTER. everyone was impressed with each bite. i would def. consider throwing a small dinner party. and would go back for dinner with friends.

my cousin told me she was going to write a review in regards to the bridal shower we attended almost 3 monhs ago? .... so i had to join in. OH MY .... i still remember when the food came out...it looked to pretty to eat... but the aroma just pulled us in.... the food was amazing. my picky mother was even impressed. we had a great time and left very happy. p.s. the service was amazing too.

Greenhouse Cafe consistently offers great food. I've never had anything that was below par. It is a bit pricey for a casual dinner (at least for my pockets) but worth splurging on for a nice dinner... and the wait staff is friendly and ALWAYS accomodating and doting.
The seafood salad was yummy as was the filet of sole stuffed with crabmeat. And the restaurant week menu was much more extensive than any other I've visited...
Pros: atrium seating, valet parking, food
