This particular Brooklyn Public Library is located one block away from Caton Avenue and two blocks away from Church Avenue. It was one of the first libraries in this area to undergo massive renovations.

Yet despite the renovations (new windows, doors and the institution of a Caribbean Literary and Cultural Center) they really haven't made good use of the spacious interior and 4 floors. Technically, there are 4 floors, but only 3 floors are used by the library.

This Flatbush branch is usually used as a local hangout for schoolkids, (both inside the library & out) so if you've come anticipating quiet---keep dreaming. The only plus is that they've seperated the kids section and the adult section on two different sides of the floor, so you're spared SOME noise there at least. The kids even have their own computer section and so do the adults. Like the plague that's gripped many Brooklyn libraries, new fiction books are very scarce here, but they have a large assortment of kids books in monthly.

There's more than enough seating available and this library's pleasant enough to stay for hours---just leave before school let's out!

PROS: Popular Neighborhood Branch
