My fiance and I stayed 2 nights at the Microtel in Oleans, NY. We requested a non smoking room but, the first thing I told him when we got our bags in the room was that it smelled bad...I couldn't identify them smell...it was just bad.
The bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean.
The breakfast left a lot to be desired. There was cereal, muffins and bagles.
The ladies at the front desk were polite and helpful, and the location of the hotel was great. Easy to get in and out of the parking lot.
The price was very good. We will stay here again.

My fiance and I had a horrible experience at the Microtel in Olean, NY. Initially, the woman at the counter was friendly and helpful. The toilet did not flush, and we were moved into a room across the hall, and the tv flickered. Also, we noticed the window was hard to open because it was "off track" or whatever. We requested a smoking room, but noticed that on the same floor there were several rooms with "non-smoking" signs. We just thought it was funny to put smoking and nonsmoking on the same floor, and noticed an odor throughout the hall. After telling us if the toilet couldn't be fixed they would have to call somebody in because there were NO other rooms available....(after WE used a plunger to try to correct the issue)....they then moved us to a room directly across the hall. When finally settled, we turned on some music and settled in for the night when we got a call to turn our music down. Understandable if it was acually loud, but to anyone's standard it wasn't. Front desk called and asked us to turn down the music, and "ALOT". Supposedly the "manager" was called in to fix toilet and heard our music. It wasn't any louder than the neighbor's tvs.and people just talking in their rooms. It's not my fault the walls are paper thin which reduces anyones privacy. After complaining to the front desk about how inconvenienced we felt the front desk lady turned from friendly to rude real fast. She told my fiance that we could not get a refund (because @ this point we just wanted to leave). Then, instead of saying "if it gets too loud again, we will have to ask you to leave", all he did was asked what would happen if we turned our music back on, she told my fiance that if we turned our music on again that "we would be out"!!!. I don't know about other Microtels, but the one in Olean, NY. sucks!!! (I do have to say the place was pretty clean, tho. Not spectacular...but clean). Do yourself a favor, as customers, we all deserve better!!!!!

Microtel Inn and Suites is an okay stay at a great price. We spent one night there in a single room. The room was non smoking but smelled like it had been a smoking room at one point. We could tell that they had done renovations and it did look nice. They do have a free continental breakfast but all they had was three bagels, a basket of mini muffins, and juice. No toppings or a toaster for the bagels. For the price we would stay there again.

PROS: great price
CONS: smoky, bad breakfast
