Ratings_icons The young and the tone-deaf

M A. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 66

This seemed like a hangout for those in their early 20s. There were some tremendously bad singers but that was part of the fun. Loud, crowded, expensive, but still fun somehow.

PROS: Karaoke is always fun
CONS: Crowded and expensive

Ratings_icons Just Pure Awful!

AutumnB

A friend wanted to celebrate part of his birthday weekend at Second on Second based on his experience there years ago in hopes of eating some decent finger foods, having a few drinks and singing karaoke. We had a reservation for 8:30pm five of us decided to sing one song each and pass the rest of the time eating and enjoying each other's company. The karaoke host (Michelle or Melissa) seemed to be more interested in taking the mic for her own performances (as she may have been rejected by American Idol) and allow her friends to sing as many songs as they wanted despite the list of people, like my group, who had been waiting for a turn. When asked why it was taking so long for her to call any of my friends up to sing and more importantly, why at least five participants, who came well after we did were called up to sing more than once, she provided a lame excuse of there being special occasions for some of those participants and she was trying to accommodate them. Moreover, when we explained that we had been waiting since 8:30pm and it was already 11:00pm, she said she would try to help us out and we would have to wait for five more people to perform. We were paying for a $300 table and everyone who walked in off the street performed before us, needless to say we were all minorities! Just an awful experience and I would suggest that people think twice before going to this place and go to the Fat Black Pussycat or the Village Underground, they treat their customers, of all creeds, with respect and they have great food and drinks!

Pros: Nothing At All, Smells, Terrible Waitstaff

Cons: Slow Service, Rude Staff Members, Over & Under Cooked Food

Ratings_icons ALOT OF FUN!!!

jessicakelly

A group of friends and I went to this bar together on a Sunday night. It was really crowded, which would have been alright but the people there were loud, too rowdy, and out of control. I had this drunk girl spill my drink and then fall down. The bouncer just sat there while the workers cleaned it up and didn't do anything to make the environment safe. I really felt like I needed a shield the whole time. The workers were really friendly and capable. I especially liked the DJ. She was really involved with the people up there. I even paid her to sing with me. Never had so much fun in a karaoke bar before. I just wish it wasn't so out of control with alcoholics.

Pros: The sound system and workers

Cons: Loud obnoxious customers

Ratings_icons Amazing Karaoke Experience....

judyapple

Bacherlorette party Fun ! ! We had a bachelorette party here the other night here and the we had a blast.
We rented one of the rooms with a karaoke system. The room was set up nicely with sofa and cocktail table. Very nice and clean. Theres a plasma tv and a karaoke system with tons of songs and most of the current songs playing on the radio now. The wait staff was professional and courteous. Sometimes we didn't realize they had bought in our drinks and food , we had so much fun. After we finish with the room , we came out to the common area , the main lounge bar . There was waves of ppl singing to Bon Jovi's Living on a prayer,. It was an amazing karaoke experience. I am definitely coming back here for my birthday party.

Pros: Food and drinks , Nice clean karaoke rooms , Price is affordable

Cons: a wait for a song in the main floor when it gets crowded could be a bit longer than expected

Ratings_icons DON"T GO! HORRIBLE!!!! This place smells like urine, the equipment doesn't work, and the staff is rude.

jal2468

A group of us rented a small room for a friend's birthday. It smelled like urine and mildew. The microphones barely worked. And the food was soggy and stale. I'm not expecting fine cuisine at a karaoke joint, but this stuff was a joke. We tried to just move past it, it was our friend's birthday. We actually proceeded to spend $600 in three hours (when we were only required to spend $60 an hour). And this was on a dead Wednesday night. NO ONE WAS THERE! And as soon as the bill came, the waitress shut down the music and sent a bouncer to stand there and push us out as if we were overstaying our welcome. He was so incredibly rude, barely letting us gather our stuff to get out of the room. We weren't even allowed to gather the money for the bill in the room. No one was singing, and no one was waiting for the room, but we were just shoved out like animals. They were so rude in getting us to leave, it practically ruined the night. There were ten of us, and we had planned to just move into the main area where there was NO ONE and continue our night there. But after their really shocking treatment we just left and took our money elsewhere. We go karaoking a lot, and this place by far was THE WORST!!!!!!

Pros: nothing

Cons: rooms stink, food is awful, service is rude, and bouncers on a power trip

Ratings_icons Diva DJ spoils fun

CallieJ39

What can I say! We would have had a great night, the crowd in the bar were fun and friendly - not too busy so you could get up for a couple of songs, drinks reasonably priced.
The only drawback was the Diva DJ who seemed like she was only working the gig cos she couldn't get on broadway. "Helping" struggling singers by grabbing a mike and drowning them out, grandstanding her own vocal talents by performing broadway numbers (with choregraphy and back up from the bar girl). Really dissapointed having come all the way from the UK and picked this place for my birthday night out. Highlight of the evening, meeting John and Earl - a couple of really sweet guys - you rocked!

Pros: fun crown, drinks not too pricey

Cons: Diva DJ

Ratings_icons great fun but the bouncers and their

MickLaz2

We go to sing karaoke at this place all the time and it's a lot of fun...my girlfriend will go in wearing jeans a tshirt and flip flops or dressed nicely, they dont care. but we went with one other girl and three guys once and they wouldn't let us in cause of their "Dress code" no beach wear...that's what they said! that's fine with me if you have a dress code for a...karaoke bar?? but don't let it slide when it's a bunch of cute girls and then discriminate against my boys who were visiting and were excited to go to karaoke.... it's not a 5 star place it's karaoke . there should be no dress code and if there is one, it should be applied to all.

Pros: good song list, fun crowd

Cons: stupid bouncers who take their job too seriously, "Dress code"

Love it! Loved it! The food was great! the sound system was wonderful....great selection of songs.....the service was very friendly and quite attractive! The only thing that lessened my experience was this guy who I think works there, he is an heavy set asian guy . His energy seemed to bring the bar down....but in all, I loved the experience and the crowd and intend to come back.. I love to sing and hooray for Second on Second!!!!!!

Ratings_icons drunken mahem

AJCroutt

Went out the other night with a group of friends. I had never been to a karaoke bar before. I didn't think I would like it(it seems more of a female oriented environment), however I actually enjoyed myself. We went on a Friday night, it was so crowded I had to wedge myself between strangers shoulders to get anywhere. That was kind of annoying, but we ended up sitting in the table section where there is alot more room. At first, it was a little daunting. Everyone seemed to be obliterated and enjoying their drunken states, but my friends and I had yet to catch up. After a few drinks, I was amazed at how much fun it turned out to be. The waitress we had was gorgeous and quick with our drinks and food. She was pleasant, especially considering what she had to put up with, having to deal with alot of drunk people. But she seemed used to it, she was swerving in and out of the crowd with no fear. The music was a little loud, but your ears adjust. The food was actually EXCELLENT(another pleasant suprise). The ambiance was inviting. And I have to say, after a few drinks I was singing along with the songs and making an idiot out of myself and I didn't care. I intend to come back to this bar in the future and I will make sure to bring my friends with me. We all loved it.

Ratings_icons Would have been good enough if not for that one nasty waitstaff

KSNYC1

This was my first time here or to any karaoke bar so not sure if this is how they all are...bouncer checking for ID at the door lacked personality (but guess they have to be like that), bouncer inside was nice enough, hostess was nice I think her name was Shawnia and bartender Elvis was nice...Went there for a birthday party for a friend and she rented a room for $60 an hour for like 4 hours...Wait staff were nice when they came to the room for orders, don't remember the waitress's names though, we had like 2 of them...Some kinks when using the machine but staff was helpful...At the end of our night there we had an Asian waitress (long hair, no personality at all, well unless nasty attitude counts, if you care about customer service and need to bring clients or picky friends, I would strongly suggest not going to this place all because of this one person). She gave attitude (major attitude) when we said the volume on the karaoke wasn't working. In my opinion if you work in customer service you should be at least pleasant especially if your customers are being nice to you, she totally spoiled the birthday girls mood with her attitude. 15 minutes before time was up the Asian lady came back in and told us that we needed to order our last drinks because time was almost up. Then after coming back with the last of the drinks said the song that was currently playing would be our last then we would need to leave. Instead of being pleasant and telling us thanks for coming but sorry our time is up, she came in with such a sour face saying time is up after the song, then proceeded to come in and clean up, you would think for a bill that's almost $500 you would get a thank you please come again. Hopefully someone will tell her that she doesn't need to be such a "meany" to the customers. I would have but my friend was already too annoyed I didn?t want to add to her mood.

Pros: Fun atmosphere

Cons: Not so nice service

Ratings_icons worst karaoke bar in NY

pastafagioli

We had a themed birthday party and rented a private room. People dressed to the theme, and they gave us a hard time about getting in because someone had on a tank top. There's a dress code, they said. I understand a place of business has policies, but the reason for the policies is often forgotten and the employees stubbornly adhere to them. It was frustrating,

Also, the song list was poor compared to other karaoke bars in NY.
Our waitress was nice, though.

Pros: no pros

Cons: very poor customer service, too many rules, lame crowd, inadequate song selection

Ratings_icons hated it. it was dumb as hell.

lovetopartyupsidedown

what the hell. worst place ever. there were way to many freakin rules. there was a hieght check at the door. you had to be a certain hieght to get it. what the hell. if your name was kelley. just forget it. they basically already want you out i that s your name. oh and by the way........ when all you havre on your karaoke list is don't go chasing water falls you know your in the wrong place. retarded. good luck if your goin on your birthday.

Pros: none

Cons: to many to name

I havben't been there yet but just a head's up if you are trying to choose a spot. Many places w/ private Karaoke rooms will let you offset your bill by buying an equivalen amount in food and drink. Your room actually becomes free pretty quickly.
But at 2nd on 2nd this type of deal only applies on Sun - Wed.
Just didn't want you to be surprised because it's not that clear in their info here.
At least I can say that the people I spoke to on the phone seem very nice and professional.
I'll probable check them out some time..

Ratings_icons A great night out.....

98terp

This actually was our second choice on where to go the other night. But we were happy we made it. We arrived around 9:00 and were able to sit at the "small" bar. It was about 3/4 full at that time and seemed like we were in store for a great nite. The 2 bartenders were very attentive and fast w/ drinks. And also very attractive if I might say...As far as the Karaoke, it was great. The place is knid of loud so sometimes it was hard to hear the singers from where we were but that was ok. The VJ moved along very quickly and there was very little down time in between singers. Yeah you had to pay a buck for every song you handed in, but whats a couple of bucks to get you up there to strut your stuff..The crowd was 21- 30ish, the bathrooms were clean, the lite food menu was sufficient, drinks were on cheaper side. Overall a great nite out. Nothing really negative to report. Take some friends and check it out.

Ratings_icons Awesome private karaoke rooms! Great waitress service!

cpf

I just had my birthday party here & it was the BEST party ever. I rented room #1; it was very spacious and comfortable. There were about 14 of us and we had plenty of room to move around. The karaoke computer worked fine and the list of songs is extensive. However, I will say that they need to update and get more current songs.
Our waitress for the night was HOLLY and she was incredible! We had drinks flowing from the minute we walked in.. she was super attentive and very sweet. I had booked the room from 10pm to 12am but we were having so much fun that we ended up staying in the room until 3am! It's such a great deal at $60 p/h. I am definitely throwing another party here and am going to request Holly as my waitress.

Pros: great atmosphere, spacious rooms, attentive waitress service, good value

Cons: the karaoke song list needs to be updated.

Ratings_icons Good karaoke, but bad service

jennjbn

I reserved a room here for my birthday three weeks ahead of time, had it not been for me checking in a week later I wouldn't have been informed that NO ONE had written my reservation down. I reserved the 2nd largest room for 20 people that held about 15 able bodied 20-somethings. I had to stand and some of my guests had to rotate out of the room to get space. The choice of songs were great and everyone had a good time, but our waitress was horrible. She took orders without writing them down and then came back twenty minutes later asking people to repeat themselves with a pad and pencil in hand. The waitstaff came up to me fifteen minutes before my time was up to ask for any last orders and then seemed to be lording over me until it was five minutes before I had to leave. I wish that they had planned better in between parties rather than schedule them back-to-back.

Once we left the place was ridiculously crowded with many women overly drunk falling over themselves. The happy hour specials weren't very good and were actually pricey, the food was overpriced as well for the quality. The best part was when we traded up from our ditzy waitress to a knowledgeable waiter who kept bringing in more stools. I'd go back, but not to rent a room or pay the added gratuity tacked on to the one tab.

Pros: Good karaoke list with Johnny Cash & Radiohead available

Cons: Bad service and overpriced drinks

Ratings_icons Cheap Heads Bar

This bar sounds like a good time and should be yet do not get a private room. The waitresses are pieces of sh**t. The minute literally the minute maybe even the second that the clock strikes that the time is up....the time is up. Maybe it was before the time is up. Basically this place is horrible... the service is horrible and i do not recommend it.

Pros: good singing

Cons: horrible service

Ratings_icons A dollar per song to sing? LOL!!

cpaz100

Yes, the sound and song selection is pretty good and so are the drinks. But why oh why is there a need to charge the customer $1.00 per song to sing in the main area?

If you're a smart owner and you know what you're doing, you're already making money on the drinks and room rentals and you should be able to affort your KJ! It really is an insult to the customer to expect THEM to pay so that they can ENTERTAIN your crowd.

I just don't understand the logic here. I will never ever ever ever come back or recommend this place to a friend. What's next, charging for a seat at the bar? Lame.

Pros: good sound, friendly KJ

Cons: PAY TO SING??

Ratings_icons Worst karaoke bar ever!

The private room was dirty (the seats were sticky from beer), the service was rude, and the song list was really lacking. There are plenty of better karaoke places in the East Village.

Ratings_icons Total Trash Karaoke Bar! Not Worth Your Time or Money!

oiseau777

So my group of ten arrives at this bar at 11:30 pm and it's half empty. We immediately pick a few songs and pay the $1 dollar fee for each song. Well, we must have waited over an hour before our first song was picked by the "DJ". That's the problem here, seems as though the "DJ" plays favorites to regulars here. Or you can crowd around her "booth" and hound her so she plays your song. Some folks sang 3 - 4 songs while we were there! This was a Sunday, maybe it's different on other nights but I doubt it. So after 2 1/2 hours, many beers bought, time wasted, etc. we had two of our groups songs played. When I went the the bar I waited for the bartender and when she looked my way I motioned with my hand that I needed a drink, she instead started washing glasses! WTF? Also the men's bathroom has one urinal and one stall, on the night we went the stall had someone's previously-eaten dinner from that night all over it for the duration of our stay!

If you really want to have fun actually singing karaoke, rent a private room in Korean town or somewhere. Sure, it costs a bit more, but if you BYOB it will be a lot cheaper then waiting hours and hoping the "DJ" picks you. And you will actually get to sing!

Pros: It's a large place

Cons: You have to be a crony of the DJ to get your song played!

The customer service and staff was superb . We had a corporate party here and had spoken to the party planner . He has taken care of our holiday party and it was well organized.with professional service. Open Bar, Guest List , Food, Open Mic Karaoke with a DJ Host made our holiday event very festive, I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a good time. Thanks Second on Second.

Wow. I called up to ask for pricing information to book a party for 25 people and the guy at this place was SO arrogant. He acted like he was doing me a favor to tell me what to expect when we got there. With so many OTHER fun karoake bars in NYC, the treatment I received over the phone was enough to make sure I booked somewhere else!

Pros: Dont know

Cons: Arrogant staff

Ratings_icons KICKED OUT OF ROOM 5MINUTES BEFORE MY BDAY COMPENSATED BY HOT SUMOAN WAITRESS?

bdiddyy

was in a room this weekend, had my birthday party there. most of the songs i chose, did not go thru, the drinks were DECENT, the room was too tiny for my friends and i had the BIGEST and there was a big guy waiting for me to leave the room 5 minutes before my due time!! the waitress, ALISON (HI CUTIE), is a pretty, hot, sumoan (dont know how to spell it) and funny gal. she was attentive and sweet and felt bad about everything and bought me a GREY GOOSE shot (would be better have she took one with me...)! nothing really beats THAT.but being kicked out of a room 5minutes before your birthday is not cool!!!

Pros: decent price, for above average service

Cons: no way of extending room past reservation. no way!!!!!!!

Ratings_icons Great Experience: Songs, Sound, Food, Drinks, Staff

vleon101

Not an employee or friend of staff..

1) Karaoke (Main Area): Excellent song list & they have a laptop @ the front in case they have something that's not in the books so you can search it if you're sober enough to type. The sound system is very good & the vocals are always mixed a little louder than the music, which is good for the singer & it sounds good to the crowd. Lots of new & old songs & of course the K-classics. At first, I wasn't a big fan of the 1.00/song fee but the KJ's are personable & they have their hands full when the crowd is big.. so they are earning it. The only suggestion I have is that they not take your 1.00 after 2:00 AM on weekends because you probably won't get a chance to sing unless the place clears out abruptly. If you are in the mood to sing a lot to a small or moderate sized crowd, go on Mon-Thurs & get there @ 9 PM. It gets packed by midnight & instead of singing once every hour or so, you'll be up every 90 - 120 mins. If you just wanna have a good time & not care about singing often, go on a Friday or Saturday night. The place gets PACKED & there's already a huge rotation by 10 PM.

2) Food/Drinks: Hands down the best food in any K-place I've ever had & it rivals some of the better Japenese/Thai restaurants, no joke. I don't like typical bar food. This place has a great sampler platter (8 bux or so, not bad) & the rice w/ chicken is kickass and will feed two people easily (8 bux or so - good deal). I haven't tried too much else from the menu, but man they do those plates right. Drinx are overpriced like any bar, but they make them well & not weak.

3) Staff: KJ's (Olivia,Chris,Latoya) very nice & work the crowd. Waitress (Lucy) GREAT SERVICE. Attentive manager.

HINT: They will try their best to find you a seat if you're going to eat -- so get the sampler and have a seat in the service area.

Ratings_icons Great Karaoke!

jaydubbs

I have been to a lot of karaoke bars in the City and this one is among the very best. The bar creates a nice, supportive, party-like atmosphere. The public bar/seating area for singers is large compared to most karaoke bars in the City. Singers have the option of singing in front of the other patrons in the front of the bar or at his/her table or somewhere in between. The drinks run about $7.50 each and there are some creative ones, such as lychee martinis. The bar serves Thai food, which is pretty good, and the appetizers are reasonably priced. The DJ is very talented himself and entertaining, without being an intrusive song-hog. The song list is good, but not the best (Planet Rose has a better song list), the mics are good, but the system has an annoying way of starting songs without showing the lyrics right away (not all the time but enough to be a drawback.) The bar can get quite loud. Overall, the bar is an excellent karaoke option.

Pros: good song selection, talented DJ, food is good

Cons: can get loud, $7.50 drinks, sound system on the fritz sometimes

Ratings_icons Great Bar- TERRIBLE Karaoke...

sleazer

This place has a great atmosphere, great bar and great waitstaff. The Karaoke, however, was a different stoy. We came to this place with a group of about 10 friends, wanting to have a great Karaoke night. We got there at about 11, and the place was poppin. Granted, we knew that since we had come later than others, our karaoke requests would take a while to come up. However, the DJ took our requests ($1 each) without a word. Had she said, "You will have to wait four hours and still your songs will not come up", We probably would have had a drink or two, and then LEFT. She didnt. SOO.. we sat in this bar for FOUR hours, watching the same five people go up again and again. Now I know karaoke, and I realize that songs will come up in the order they are given in, but at the same time, most places, the host/DJ will mix up the requests a bit, and if there is a huge amount, they will make sure people dont get more than 2 repeats before new people have gotten a chance at all. The DJ was also extremely cold, and when I tried to ask her when we'd be coming up (in a really nice way, since I knew she was swamped) she COMPLETELY blew me off. If I could tell you how many times I heard "It's gonna be at LEAST a 1/2 hour, 45 minutes".... This became RIDICULOUS when there were only 5 people left in the bar who weren't a part of our group and our names STILL WERE NOT COMING UP!!
Really, it was ludicrous and no way to run a business (esp when we paid money for the songs- granted, only a dollar each, but we had put in a bunch of songs, so there was money spent.)
In short- if want to go to a bar with a nice vibe and watch friends of the DJ sing while you wait in vain for your name to come up- go to 2nd on 2nd. If you want to have FUN- go to the gay bar next door!!

Ratings_icons Bachelorette Party

ginaaa

I was at Second on Second this weekend for a bachelorette party. At first I was skeptical of our waitress, who IS a pretty japanese girl (agreeing with comment below), but seemed very quiet (maybe cause we are girls and she is not a lesbian). But when asked for help, she was very considerate and took time to take care of everything for us. Even when my drunk friends were giving her a hard time and spilled drinks all over her (so sorry), she was very patient w/us. The drinks were good, service was fast and helpful. The one thing was that we wanted to stay longer but was not able to since there was another party coming in RIGHT AFTER us, however, the same waitress gave us an extra 30minutes, but later on at 30 mins on the dot, some guy took a plastic bin in the room and started collecting our still filled drinks!! =( We went outside to the lounge, put in ONE song, waited 1 hr for it to NEVER come up and decided to leave. We had nowhere to stand, the bartender was a crazy powerpuff girl who served some weird tasting cosmo, I swear it's different than the ones I had in the room... Bottom line, you like to sing and have a good time, rent out a room. You still in the college-days of partying and looking at powerpuff, too pale and need a lipstick bartender, go to the bar.

Ratings_icons Great *hot* customer service!

gregkingston

Although I was stuck in a room over-flooded with my friends (not anyone's fault but the person who planned the birthday party), I was pretty happy with the prompt service (imagine service at the touch of a gold button and a pretty Asian girl comes to your service and ask you what you want to drink!). I was pretty disappointed that there was no Sapporos in an Asian restaurant, but other than that, I was told by the same girl that there are many other options!! The foods was good (not amazing of course) but for a karaoke place, the food was pretty good! I highly recommend the fries, chicken wings and papaya salad!! I was really amazed at how accurate and fast the service was, I was ringing and ringing the bell!! I go to Second a lot. The lounge can be fun if you don't mind the crowd. People like to dance and spill drink all over you, but that is all part of the fun! Go there if you want a good time with people who looks good but doesn't care less about what others think of them while making a fool of themselves onstage. The crowd is good at cheering everyone on, but if not, you still have the good looking waitstaff to clap for you.. Note: Next time, don't bring your gf if you want to chat the girls up. For thte ladies, my female friends thought the bartender and the dj were good eye candies! This place is a must go!!! Cheap drinks, cheap room rates, any songs you want imaginable to sing!!

Pros: Great service, cheap drinks, good karaoke music

Cons: Crowded on the floor on weekends, no Sapporos

Ratings_icons so good, and yet so bad...

Reserved a room after a lot of 'tude to reserve the largest room. Karaoke system is top-notch but had to be rebooted. No apology was offered. They sent about 4 servers who were rather interruptive and pushy. They state they have a service button on their website but they don't. It really seemed like they were looking for outside food/drinks in the room. One of the servers ran outside to make me to raise the tip because it was apparently my fault that the bill was divided into two. The flat-out bill was covered and I usually tip more than 20% anyway and the "second" bill was not as high, so my gratuity should have sufficed. It was in poor taste to solicit a patron for more. The service was overbearing, and perfunctory, though the drink server was nice. I think I will stick to those walk-up noraebahngs in K-town.

Pros: song selection, ambience, late night dining

Cons: pushy service, rooms can be pricey

Ratings_icons My birthday party

natashak322

I had my birthday here, this past weekend. I invited about 25-30 people and they didn't have a problem getting in. It's a small place with karaoke rooms inside. The rooms inside weren't that great looking but after a few drinks and songs it didn't seem to matter. We ended up having so much fun! And they have the hottest male gay bar next door. So, if this bar isn't working for you...ladies you will enjoy the bar next door. They have hot male strippers and I've never felt so comfortable with all gay men around me! Oh, the only bad thing about this place is getting in touch with them. I had called them a lot of times before they finally picked up and their website sucks. The pictures don't upload and they don't respond back to emails. But besides that it was great =)

Pros: karaoke, drinks, gay bar next door

Cons: no parking

I was visiting from out of town, and we went to 2nd on 2nd twice in one week. The first time was a Friday night, and it was packed (but a lot of fun). The only downside was the drinks (well drinks, specifically), which hardly had enough alcohol to get a 2-year-old drunk. The second time was on a Monday night, with the same bartender (blond guy) pouring weak drinks. My friend politely asked for a little bit more alcohol in his drink, and like a total jerk, the bartender sneered and kept pouring until the drink was overflowing and sticky. After that, we put in two song requests (along with $2), which were repeatedly ignored by the snotty DJ (also blond, thanks to a wig). The place wasn't crowded at all, yet we were blatantly ignored while the same people kept screeching out the cheesiest songs you can imagine.

Pros: fun open mic

Cons: bad service, weak drinks

This is like karaoke in the remake. I was kinda shy about singing in the open, I've only been in a private room. But this is the BEST... it brings out the best in you. We had so much fun, met new friends, it was great. food was great, drinks were reasonably priced. Really had a good time.

I threw a birthday party here and i tell you it was a great experience. There was a bachelorette party going on at the same time and the energy just grew as each group started going up to the stage to sing. This is one of the best karaoke places around. They have a Live MC that becomes your host for the night and to make i t more fun. The food is excellent and the lychee martinis here are the best. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation for dinner or drinks. They also have private karaoke room ! I would definitely come back , my new hidden hotpot.

Pros: affordable, no cover, ambience

Cons: 21 and over

I totally didn't expect much from this place when my friends asked me to go there Friday. But to my surprise, the food was great and the atmosphere was excellent. Although, the wait for a kareoke room was quite long without reservation. But the host and co-host for the kareoke lounge area was awesome! We all had a great time there!

Pros: Food, Great crowd, Entertaining

Cons: , Long wait

Ratings_icons Food is not Second Banana

For a friend's birthday, we had to choose a Karaoke place that served food. Most of us have low expectations of the edible fare at most of the Karoke/Restaurant places. The food tends to be reheated and mediocre at best. But to our surprise 2nd on Second delivers with the innovative and tastiest sushi rolls, roasted chicken, fish and other entrees on its menu. One of my girl friends who worked in Japan said that this was the best sushi fare in Karaoke land that she had in a while. Talk about death by Fried Ice Cream, I also succumbed to the Lychee Cremé Bruleé. We're going back just for the food! As for our singing, it will be another birthday for that.

Pros: Prompt Service , Great ambiance, Easy to use Karaoke

Cons: , Claustrophobic rooms

Ratings_icons Huge portions!!

Came here on a Saturday night. Our party was an hour late, but they didn't have a problem with that. Great value. Large portions. I had the Fort Hamilton roll. Great for those on the atkins diet, as it has no rice. It was around 12 pieces!! Seaweed salad is large too!! Great value!! Happy hour from 5-8 is buy 1, get 1 free!!! Come here for a great meal.

Pros: Large portions, Good atmosphere, Nice Service

Ratings_icons Best Japanese Restaurant

tmoy

This is the best Japanese food I have ever ate! The restaurant part of this place is so cozy, the bar is so much fun, and the kareoke rooms are a blast. The workers here are so friendly and are always coming around making sure you're okay. I highly recommend this place, whether it be for a romantic dinner, social events, or just to have a great time.

Pros: great price, great service

I was looking for a place to celebrate my friends birthday and found this perfect restaurant on this site. It has great Japanese food, well stock bar, private clean karaoke rooms! We stayed for 6 hours in the room singing, eating, and drinking! We had a blast and will definitely go back again to celebrate more birthdays. They served out Surprise Birthday cake quite nicely too. Waiters were quite servicefull coming into our room every 10 minutes.

Pros: songs selections, good location, very clean

Cons: 1 ladies room, room quite small

Ratings_icons Great bar/great meal

partay33

The sushi here IS excellent - and I've frequented the best places in town. But better yet is the bar and the bartenders - Chung + Josh. They are very service oriented - make a mean cocktail and are very "in" to their profession. If you want to forgo the tables (not a lot of ambience in the main room- reminds me of a cafeteria) - Definitely eat at the bar!! The Karaoke rooms are also clean, neat + great song selection!

Pros: great bar/bartenders, quality sushi, clean uni bathrooms

Cons: gets crowded weekends, tables very cafeteria

This was, by far, the best sushi experience I have ever had. The food was out of this world and the service was the best I have ever had. The owner was quick to recommend favorite dishes and the happy hour specials are terriffic. I wouldn't recommend another sushi restaurant in the city. If you're out for a nice romantic, delicious meal with great service and a very affordable menu, go to Second on Second.

Pros: excellent food, excellent service, excellent prices
