Curves for Women is an innovative type of gym. There are a circuit of 12,14, 04 15 machines. depending on the curves you go to (I believe we had 12) and you use the machine for 30 seconds. You then stop and jog or walk in place on a board called a recovery station for 30 seconds. Every 30 seconds you change from machine to recovery station until you go around the circuit twice. This takes about 24 minutes. You finish with stretching and a cool down.

The music is good and the people are friendly.

There are only a couple dressing rooms, no lockers per se or showers, and it's very barebones.

Most clientele are older women who enjoy socializing while exercising.

I didn't like the whole set up. I didn't feel I was getting any benefit out of just 30 seconds on a machine and I needed more to feel challenged. Many, however, love Curves.

If you are overweight or out of shape, this is a good place to start your exercise regime. Those already in decent shape may find it simply isn't challenging enough.

The cost, when I was there a couple years ago was $29 a month, steep for a 24 minute workout three times a week (as recommended).

It's a homey atmosphere and a good place to meet friends and socialize while working your muscles but you will be disappointed if you are looking for a true challenge.

Any exercise is better than no exercise and being an all women's gym is a plus to many. You just throw on your sweats and go and, in a half an hour, you're out the door.

Recommended for those who are just starting an exercise regiment or who are very overweight and need to go slow, or for those who want to try a new approach. I, personally, didn't get any physical benefit out of the workouts and am doing much better at home for much less money.

I gave it 3 stars though because it can benefit many people who need to start exercising and this could be a good place to begin.

PROS: Fast, easy, friendly
CONS: Not enough of a workout for those in good shape
