The hospital is great if you are having a baby or elective surgery and the food is great but read on

I was MFS twice in December and Jan and thought the treatment was lacking in a number of areas There was no communication with the doctors about my condition Only after I was released did I find out the full extent of my medical problems There was little effort to help with personal care.Hard to do it yourself when you are tied a bed with an IIV Was diagnosed with heart failure and did not refer me to a cardiologist or note that on the discharge papers

Had a complication after a procedure and it took them all day to transfer me to Gates for surgery

After I was released I found out the hospital doctors are from a group the specializes in geriatric medicine Great choice if you heart failure or a blood clot

This was my first time as a patient in MFS I was disappointed and surprised to see how dated and small the room and bathrooms are. The phones are heavy and hard to reach. The bathrooms are small and have little room to place items so they don't fall on the floor. I also felt as far as germ safety features go, the local Wegman's bathrooms have a better handle on it as well as the local schools and Chicago's O'Hare airport. Please people install the automatic faucets, towel dispensers, and toilet seat covers. As far as the staff goes...some were very unprofessional, with comments such as"if I had a gun right now I'd shoot myself'. Some did not use gloves. And shift changes were very loud. Wait time when call button was used varied from 1 minute to a half hour or no response at all. I was expecting so much more from this hospital as many friends had their children here. Well I guess maybe when you're not having a baby your not as exciting a patient. I also was surprised at the little help received when still on the foley to be washed up, I was handed the wash cloth to wash myself with no assistants, I was still so week from surgery and could have used more help. At twelve I was hospitalized at St Joe's and was washed from head to toe daily for at least 2 weeks after an appendectomy, I know the times and nursing profession has changed a lot since then but really? Communication is also lacking...please if you can't come when I call give me a time you'll be able to get to me and if I 'm waiting for results keep me informed like" a call has been put into the doctor and hasn't gotten back yet" etc. I know that all places are short staffed etc. etc. but seriously sometimes I think you all should be paid like waitresses, a lower base rate then a tip(commission) base on exit surveys of your patients, because waitresses check up on their "customers" more often than nurses and aides do. Granted I know you are dealing with far more serious things than refilling coffee, etc. but sometimes it is just that simple. The five stars are for the doctors as predetermined questions to post this in case you are wondering why 5 stars and such a bad review.

The experiences I have had with Millard Fillmore have been as a concerned family member, never a patient. I have had only positive experiences with them. They have a very knowledgeable staff who work hard to earn your trust. I felt the doctors serving this hospital always tried to explain things in a way the family would understand. When my Aunt passed away, they allowed us to grieve and spend the time we needed with her before she died. We were always kept in the loop on her progress and she was carred for by the nurses as if she was their family member. The only downside of this hospital is in their maternity ward, you have to fight for a private room and then pay extra (whereas other hospitals you always get a private room).

PROS: Compassionate
CONS: Non Private rooms in Maternity

This hospital has a very nice medical staff. The doctors are qualified, and they were patient with me when I went in and was scared to get my blood taken (afraid of needles). I went to the emergency room and I didn't have to wait too long. The hospital itself is clean, the rooms are good and the waiting room is also nice. Friendly staff in general.

Okay, let me tell you first of all, I am an employee of Kaleida Health. That being said, I *still* think Millard Fillmore Suburban is a World Class Hospital.
The entire staff of the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, beginning with the registrators at the front desk, to the nutritional services and environmental services staff, to the nurses, patient management coordinators and doctors, are there to make your visit/stay as comfortable and painless as possible.
The entire staff is friendly, caring, kind and considerate. If it is in a staff member's scope to help you, they will go out of their way to make sure they do so.
I was lucky enough to deliver both my sons, now ages 16 and 12, at this hospital. If you live in the Northtowns and you don't want to go to Womens & Childrens to deliver, this is the very next best Labor & Delivery hospital in Western New York.
As with any Emergency Room, you may find wait times, depending on the nature of your emergency. However, the team will do its very best to make your visit to the ER as painless and quick as they possibly can.
