This is absolutely the worst management company I've ever dealt with. It's been 3 months since I moved into one of the buildings they manage and after 10+ calls for the past month I STILL have not got my moving in deposit. Every time I

Unless you are on the board, or better yet, the board president, which I was, you will not be acknowledged. As long as I was the board president, all was well, after I retired from that position, you are on your own. E-mails go unanswered, house rules become ignored, and all that was right becomes wrong. When shareholders told me that there calls go unanswered or not returned, I thought that they were exagerating. Now that I am no longer board president I see exactly what they were talking about. All requests that I have made, now as a shareholder, have been ignored. I have written a letter of complaint to the state attorney general's office and am awaiting a response. Never a more blatant example of "sleeping with the enemy", they wrote the book!

I have dealt with management companies that manage my properties in LA, various in NYC, Florida, and Germany. I prefer the straight talk, from this company. The Germans keep it simple and very efficient, LA is a litle fleeting, but Florida don't get me started. If you ever had to deal with properties you soon find out that the local ordinaces will keep you really busy. The way that any professional company is supposed to provide superior service, few do. I can name dozens that do shoddy work, a few placed me in court due to telling the truth.

When I saw all of the ramblings on this site and on citipages, I was like WHOA, somebody has it in for these guys. Funny thing on dozens of others ther reviews are excellent. I can't speak for others, but I did notice that all of this started at the same time.

All the homeowners from Parkview Estates Condominium, located in Staten Island, New York are fed up with Jalen Management Company. The staff never, ever returns calls from homeowners. Most of the homes are falling apart. One homeowner discovered the outside of her home had been invaded by termites. Jalen never bothered to send an exterminator. After calling everyday and waiting for two weeks, the homeowner was forced to hire and exterminator and pay out of his pocket $800.00 when that was suppose to be taken care of by Jalen Management Company.
There are rumors of corruption among the Parkview Estates Condominium board members for charging each homeowner $500.00 to remove their snow. Funny thing, most homeowners had to shovel their own snow. Homeowners are required by Jalen Management Company to submit in writing their requests for repairs. Written requests are rarely answered. Some homeowners have been waiting for 8 years. Some homeowners have reported racism and verbal abuse by functioning board members and have repeatedly complained to Jalen Management Company without results. Does that mean that Jalen Management Company promotes racist ideas?

The tenants have to take it up on themselves to help with the cleaning and upkeep of the buildings. They are always asking for more money,,,Just horrible

I am on the board of a 158 unit condominium development that has had the pleasure of having Jalen Management as our managing agent for the past ten years. Unfortunately, for the first twenty years that our community was in existence, we had a corrupt managment company that ripped our community off in a very serious manner. Thankfully, a new board was formed which overturned the old board and management company. We had to start from scratch. We were in the red for years. We interviewed many management companies and found Jalen Management to be the one company that had all the qualities that we were looking for. Lately, we have been bombarded with other management companies trying to pursuade us to switch. We are very satisified with Jalen Management and wouldn't think of switching.

I can honestly say that in the past five years since I have been on the board, our community has improved tremendously with Jalen's help. We still have a way to go. Nothing happens overnight. I am very involved in making our community a great place to live. I am accomplishing this with the help of Jalen Management's expertise. As far as the staff goes, they are courteous and professional. They get the job done and that is what concerns our community.

A community is only what you make it. You need to get involved. Jalen Management has been instrumental in getting our commmunity back to where it should be. They are not perfect, no one is. We don't expect miracles, we just expect good service and that is what we get. We are patient in how we deal with any of our vendors that service our community, and the job gets done and it gets done right.

I have nothing but great things to say about Jalen Management. I would recommend them to anyone that asks. I advise all homeowners in our community to email Jalen with their requests, and it works. My community is not the only community that Jalen represents and we understand that. Have patience, they are only human, just like yourself.

This is the problem that we have in the fast paced selfish world that we live in. Every man for themself. Make excuses and push the situation on to someone else. Good luck with your negative attitude, you are going to need it.

I stumbled on this site when I googled Jalen to get their fax number. I was very surprised to read some of the reviews. So I needed to post about my experience with Jalen.

Jalen took over the management of our coop building about ten years ago. The prior manager was terrible and left the building in a financial mess. Jalen turned the building around, increased the value of our units and every penny they manage is accounted for. We have monthly board meetings in Jalen's office were they keep us informed, discuss issues and plan for the future. Over the years I've found their employees to be responsive, caring and honest. I highly recommend Jalen Management.

They never follow up with promised repairs (our buzzer hasn't worked since we moved in 5 months ago and they keep telling us it will be fixed "next week") and keep terrible records. They accidentally sent us an invoice for several thousand dollars and when we called them about it they said it was sent in error, but that we happen to owe $1k but aren't able to tell us what the charges are for. They now want us to send them our paperwork so that they can figure out what the $1k charges are for.

We've paid every single month of rent on time. One of our rent checks STILL hasn't been cashed from 4 months ago; even though they've confirmed numerous times that it was received. They've been blaming the un-cashed check on "a new computer system" that somehow makes it hard to cash rent checks from several months ago (even though they've cashed every other check since then). In attempting to follow up with the un-cashed rent check, they now claim they are unable to help us and it it's our fault for not keeping good enough records of the checks we sent them.

In all of my years of renting, I've never had to help the management company figure out why I owe them money or hunt down why a check hasn't been cashed. You'd think they would be quick to cash checks they receive and not allude to it being the renters fault that they're not cashing rent checks.

I've talked to other people in my building and they all have similiar complaints. Despite the high broker's fee I paid to move into this otherwise great apartment, I plan on moving as soon as my lease is up. I strongly urge everybody to avoid renting an apartment in abuilding associated with Jalen Management.

Newport Management provides an outstanding service in my building. Newport manages our building since 2003 and increased the value of our building tremendously. They are terrible. I am a coop owner and I dread having to ask them for anything. You have to be breathing down their neck to get them to do anything! If there is a problem on their end, they just wait until you call to see what's up, then they say "I'm glad you called because ...." Errr! Why don't you call me???

the most terrible company I've ever worked with. I am on the board but I cannot really do anything because the building sponsor who owns more than 50% of the units likes them for some reason. This is the worst office I have ever called for information about apt's-terrible customer service they were rude ,incompetent, inefficient and their people skills are horrible I would never recommend this management company the worst ever! the receptionists were terribly unskilled -never ever call or go to this company -0 stars

Unbelievably poor arrogant service. They have been the bane of my existence ever since I went to contract to buy a co-op that they [mis]manage. The contact at the Mgmt Co is a liar who even pulled the 'Jury Service' excuse for not getting the work done. Paperwork has been shuffled to the bottom of the pile and calls have not been returned, they have hidden behind voicemail and made many false claims of having done work which has not been done. This despite the fact that the common charges at the building are on the high side. after I read the other bad reviews I felt that I had to lend my voice and say that were it not for the fact that I am in contract I would not go ahead with the purchase. Why doesn't the Mayor, Governor and others get real estate reform as an essential. Everyone involved in this sale from the lawyers, brokers, sellers and purchasers have been made thoroughly miserable by their poor service and bad attitude.

The worst service ever. They change managers every two months. Unless you are board president stay away of ALL condos and apartments managed by this company. We are very,very disapointed...... We are planning to sell our condo because the stress they are causing us.

This reviewer is so right... Jalen is almost the worst...Newport Management is ever more terrible... but I guess that all management companies are inept and corrupt. Which, if you want to work with either of these companies, have some cash to grease the way or no deal.

The worst service I have ever received. Completely disorganized, staff is overwhelmed and incompetent which makes for a useless organization. Most frustrating business I have ever dealt with. Should not be used as management for ANY cooperative building. They lied to me and I am sure they will lie to everyone else they deal with. Can't get critical paperwork completed. Totally inept at doing their job. Worthless.
