Stopped here for a friend's bday...never realized what I thought would be a casual night of drinks with friends would lead to a night of chaos. I was at first put off by the stink that came from inside whenever the bouncer opened the door. Then there were the Wal-Mart track lighting plastered haphazardly around the bar. Then there was the indescribably terrible music....already I'm wondering why the hell I was brought to this low life establishment! All it took was one look around to see that there wasn't even one person remotely attractive - it looked like all the college rejects who never had the guts to come out of the closet. Ok--these are things that should make you want to leave...but it gets WORSE.

A few friends and I decided to grab a quick bite to eat to ward off our alcohol. Upon return, we came upon the 400lb gorilla bouncer, who we'd just spoken to 20 mins before...and with profanities being thrown at us REFUSED to let us back in. At this point, we had only come back to return our Bday Boy's jacket, who'd lent it to a girl in our party since it was chilly. When we explained only one of us would need ten seconds to find our friend, the bouncer SPIT IN THE FACE of one of our female friends. WOA. Then, the bouncer become completely enraged when one of our friends came to defend her and screamed unmentionable obscenities and racial slurs, threats and physically pushed another friend. It was all VERY upsetting. Then, THE BOUNCER TRIED TO DEAL US SOMETHING!! But clammed up, when the manager, Roger, came by--who we'd asked to see since things had gotten so out of hand...what a mess. We found out later from our BDAY BOY that the very same thing had happened to a number of other guests while trying to re-enter after smoking and the like. He saw the bartenders giving the bouncer shots and that is why he thinks things got so escalated.

Luckily, we caught the whole thing on video on our phones. God bless technology. I can say I have lots of friends in the neighborhood, in the community, and muy importante people in the industry (who'd never go there anyways...SOHO House, hello!) that I'll be passing the word along to. And this is a small, powerful, vindicative crowd. I won't be surprised if POSH is shut down within the year.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOT MESS!

Posh is a great place to party. The happy hour is great and the crowd and bartenders are always friendly. It would be nice to see more minorities working behind the bar as many of the clients are from many different nationalities.

I went here with my godfather not too long ago (shortly after I discovered he was gay) and we had an amazing time. We got to talk and hang out and catch up. The drinks were good, and the atmosphere was great. I'd definitely go back with him in the near future.

After having a not so good time bar hopping in hells kitchen i went with my friends to posh. My mood changed completely. The music was upbeat and original (not just the same tired old top 40 every gay bar plays on a loop all month). Although it was really crowded no one was shoving people out of the way to walk through. The staff made me laugh and noticed me despite the fact they were incredibly busy and the drinks they made were excellent. Everyone was dancing and having fun and i forgot all about being cranky earlier in the night. Thanks Posh!

Pros: Music, Staff, Drinks & Atmosphere

Wow! Besides being a little hung(over), Posh is awesome! Where else are you going to find a dance party that goes like this till 4AM on a Monday? The rapper DJ was awesome, the bartenders were sweet (and hot... like a pepper-ha!), and the music and crowd was awesome! I brought two of my girlfriends, and even they had the time of their lives dancing! Monday rocks at Posh!!! :)

Some friends and I came into New York this past week for my birthday and stumbled upon Posh after a Monday night out in Hell's Kitchen. After we left at 4am, we decided to return on Tuesday and Wednesday night as well, each night as good as the one before it! The bartenders were beyond personable (not to mention nice to look at), the drinks cheap and well-made, and the music beyond good. AND you drink for FREE on your birthday!! Who does that?! Next time I come to New York, I will definitely be stopping by again. Special shoutout to Jeff and Anthony for making my birthday on Monday night that much more awesome, in addition to the other bartenders we met on Tues and Wed (ah can't remember their names though!).

Whoever said this bar has changed "for the worse" obviously doesn't appreciate a great little secret in HK ;-)

HELL YEAH!!! I just came from POSH and it is the place to be on a Sunday nite. Can you say OPEN BAR! This is the second time I have been to POSH on a Sunday and was there was an open bar. It didn't last all night but it was long enough to get the place packed. And with Cazwell spinning it couldn't get any better. The owner was just was crazy as everybody else. The bartenders were of course cute and very friendly. I prefer the new POSH! Good thing I don't have to work tomorrow!!!

It has been awhile sine I was in NYC and things seem to change a lot. What happend to the original bartenders Jason and Michael and Derek? Gone are the good ole days and so is hospitality. Whats with all the turn over here. I felt like I was in South America with all the new little wife beaters running around behind the bar. All good things come to an end.

Though I found this bar to be somewhat small, in all honesty I had a over all fun experience. This was the first gay bar I attended after my arrival to the City. Though I would not consider it the apitamy of a gay A-list society I found "Posh" inevitably refreshing with a layed back envirnment and well balanced drinks. I have return to the bar since only pleased to find that the overall experience and density remained regular. I expect to return...

I went to Hells Kitchen last night cause I hear Wed. night is packed at this bar. Either my friends were wrong or the rock and roll bartender with pointed side burns and lets just face a head of hair that was just a mess, was just so darn slow no one could get a drink. I stood next to him while he honestly leaned over the bar in a conversation about HImself for nearly a life time. Completely ignored me and my friends while we were parched of thirst.!!
Seriously, aside from this the bar was a blast and I will be back. The bartender this just did not do it for me so bad I had to write it on here.
But hey, don't take my word on it, try it out for yourself. Just not on Wed.

Stopped to meet a friend a few weeks ago. Was my first time there. I've been back a bunch of times since. It's a really friendly and fun place to grab a few drinks and meet some new people. Totally reasonable prices (especially during happy hour, 'til 8) and a super-friendly staff to boot. While its always fun, I definitely recommend Friday nights--really good crowd and energy without being over the top!

Great music and drinks. I am going back next weekend and maybe ill even check out Wednesdays project runway there I heard it is a blast.

When in Hells Kitchen you must stop by at POSH. I highly recommend it for its ambiance and service. Attractive and attentive bartenders and server. (Very cute also) There is always something happening at POSH. Drag performances, Contests, Midnight Pizza and the hottest DJ's in the city. If you are 21 or 70, it does not matter you will feel welcome ALL the time. Then there is the famous happy hour every day, you should not miss it. 1/2 price drinks!!! Go there and have fun (alot)

I go to Posh pretty often - a few times a week - I have to be honest though; it's not because Posh is so amazingly good - it's because the other bars in the neighbourhood are so painfully boring. Therapy, Vlada, I'd have more fun if I sat in my bathroom with a bottle of cheap vodka.

Most times I've been to Posh I've had a pretty good time. There are plenty of regulars so you can turn up anytime and there'll always be someone you know hanging out at the bar, or out front smoking a cigarette.

The bar staff are pretty friendly - one of them is very cute too :-) The owner seems like a cool guy - as soon as he heard it was my birthday the drinks were on the house for the whole evening. Nice, right? :-)

Having been to Posh 100 times or so, and being well over the legal age limit, I was less than impressed by the new bouncer who completely refused me entry because I didn't have my photo ID on me. Carrying a passport when you go to a bar is just not a very wise thing to do (we don't have ID cards in the UK) He could have made SOME effort to verify that I'm a regular at the bar, but that would have taken some intelligence & involved him getting off his fat butt. Well if the owner wants to lose my $400/month of business, he should employ that bouncer full-time.

I'm not sure where Posh gets its name from...maybe it's supposed to be ironic?? I lived in the area for years before I went there for the first time - and it was the name of the place that had always put me off wanting to check it out. I just imagined a place called Posh would be full of emaciated 20 yr olds in skin-tight fluorescent t-shirts.

So, overall, recommended. It's not stylish, it's not "cool", it's not filled with gorgeous guys (there are a few, on a good night)...but it's not a bad way to spend a few hours. The people are friendly, the music's usually good, you can take your drinks outside while you have a smoke...what more could you ask for? ;-)

One of the biggest advantages Posh has over other neighborhood bars is its small (tiny) porch, where you can have your cocktail AND a cigarette.
The bad thing about Posh is their use of djs... this is a small space with no dancing - so why blast music so loudly that you cannot hear the person next to you? When it is crowed, forget having a conversation with anyone unless you can fit outside.

I stopped by POSH a little before midnight on a recent Saturday night. Although I was alone, it didn't take long before I was engaged in conversation with several interesting bar patrons.

Overall, it didn't feel like the typical NYC bar. The DJ was great, the crowd was alive and kickin, and the drink prices were reasonable.

No doubt, POSH deserves a return visit....

Nice rebutle by a jaded bartender in the previous reviews. Interesting, but true reviews...
Sounds like this guy gives his own shadow an attitude.
Posh is great though. Many HOT M4M action always on the weekends!!!
My favorite gay pick up joint.

I have been going to posh for about 4 years now and i must say it is one of the friendliest bars in manhattan! i had to write a review because after reading the last one, i must contest that the project runway party hosted by Xavier, the bartender is one of the best parties in the city, last week he managed to get 5 of this years running contestants to Posh, and word is he will be bringing Tim Gunn (Parson's advisor) to this years finale at Posh. That being said, Posh is a wonderful time for all by all. There, i said it! Not to mention that when we go to posh on fridays, the dj is not only amazing but accomodating to everyone's likes and dislikes, which never happens in new york, right? I highly recommend posh to everyone who is not only young, but open-minded to fun, i and my best friends have met many a boyfriend at posh( ha ha) check it out and definitely bring a friend. they also have drink specials that are rivaled by few... hmmm. Let's ponder, drink specials, cute boys, great music, great bartenders ( we love u mair, cazwell, and definitely xavi ) and did i mention drink specials? ha ha, it's a no brainer folks, see you at posh, cheers!!!!! i find it curious that the reality-show put down was written by someone named since you been gone... hmmm

I have to say that posh is truly one of the best bars on any given night. There is almost always a crowd be it happy hour and after work or 330 am. It is also far more friendly and diverse than virtualy any bar in this city. Having said that I need to address a review which I find RIDICULOUS. I have been a regular at this bar since it opened and seen many changes happen though it has ALWAYS maintained it's feel. One of those changes has been the addition of the flat screen TV which me and my friends find to be a welcome addition. The TV is not always on, more often than not when I have been there after 8 pm it is off, and when on, the sound is off, there is always great music playing here. every night different DJs. Having the TV gives the bar options to do things many other bars can't do like show the big award shows ALL of which I have watched at the bar with friends for years now. Wed night have become one of my favs.If you don't want to watch the show or don't like participating in fun questionaires and winning prizes and getting to meet celebs then true it is NOT the place for you for 1 hour from 10-11 on wed. But from the looks of the crowds there lately very few share the opinion of the previous reviewer. The last thing I want to mention about this bar is the staff and the prices. The prices cannot be beat, 1/2 price for hours EVERY SINGLE DAY during happy hour then a different drink special every night not to mention your pick of beers for under $5 all the time. A cosmo for $8 as opposed to the going rate of $11 or $12. SIgn me up!!!!!! Th staff here is great. They all have very different personalities and the staff has grown to be a very interesting and diverse cross of people. But what they all share is a genuine care about the bar and their customers and making everyone feel welcome, young, old, gay or straight, male or female. Please check this bar out and don't be put off by one unhappy review. LOVE YA POSH, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

Pros: STAFF, prices, atmosphere

Cons: the artwork, only 2 bathrooms

I have been going to Posh for awhile and am so disappointed on their Wed. night reality TV night. If your going to a bar to chill out and meet and talk to people and listen to music, forget going to this bar. They should change the name to Televishion Bar. No one talks they just sit and glare at the tv from stupid dance shows for an hour then two more hours of another fashion reality show. And PLEASE, REMEMBER... DO NOT ASK JAVIER FOR A DRINK WHILE HE IS ENTRANCED BY THESE SHOWS or you will get a glare of death and a glass full of attitude, that is if he turns around and even notices you. It is ashame that these reality shows are even on but more disappointing that they have found their way in to NYC Night Life.
I would recommend this bar after 11:pm when the TV is finally off and people start coming in.

We love this place. Great cheap drinks, great happy hour, cool bartenders and great DJ's. Not all the attitude of those other Chelsea & Hell's Kitchen bars. Go there and really enjoy yourself. Not sure what the owner's story is, but he's great eyecandy either way.
Had a friend's birthday party there and were treated like stars.
Great place for happy guys that don't need therapy. Relax here away from cold communist environments. Drink up far from the barage of attitude and expesive drinks.
Posh is it. See you there.

After going around the hood in Hells Kiitchen & putting with up the attitude at all the gay bars in the neighborhood. We stumbled across POSH. "IT WAS LIKE STUNMBLING IN TO A SLICE OF HEAVEN IN HELL' We had a BLAST!!! Chepest Drink Prices and NO Attitude. We put this place at the top of the list for all gay bars.
The guy in the Chef outfit at the door was irresistibly CUTE~~~
GOT TO TRY THIS PLACE OUT!!

I been coming into Posh since the day it opened bringing life to Hells Kitchen. Straight or gay, the people are so kind & nice in the pub. Everyone is welcome in this 'Cheers Like Setting' This is not a sex sex sex bar, so the welcoming of straight people only adds to its charm. It is a shame that we even have t go by thses titles but it was disturbing to me as I read another review by a gilted date on this site. I have never met a more gracious man than the owner, John. What a great guy!

Posh is just like a slice of home in NYC. This week I was in NYC, visiting a friend. We went to Posh and everyone was so friendly. I felt like I have been going there my entire life. Tommy was an amazing host to a night I will not soon forget, email me! The customers and the staff welcomed you with open arms. Go there you will love it!! Wendy

I live in the neighborhood, and of all the new bars that have opened up in the last few years, this one is my favorite - people actually talk to each other here - not just stare. Great bar staff, comfortable feeling. The perfect neighborhood bar, and has become increasingly crowded at night, but rarely is 'too' packed. Nice in the summer with the outdoor tables out front.

Never had I had such a personal, friendly, enjoyable experience with a bar staff at a bar in the City. We laughed, we cried, we bonded. Not only did they provide us with great service, but they also played a cd we had brought with us to make us happy. Matthew, one of the bartenders, is worth the trip alone. Come one, come all!

Great place anytime...happy hour, then again after 10, then again for just one more. Always very friendly bartenders, generous drinks. Always someone to chat to. Mixed from young to old, theater, music, muscle. It's got it all.
