Remarkable assortment at reasonable prices for a small town market. The deli subs are the best you will find and the quality of the meat from the butcher department is excellent. Wide assortment of beverages and the staff will carry your order out at no charge. It's no wonder they've been in business for almost 100 years.

I moved to Tupper Lake two years ago. After shopping at Wegmans, P & C, and Price Chopper, the IGA was a disappointment.

Parking was set up inefficiently and getting in and out of the lot was problematic. The store was very crowded. There weren't many people, but many of the aisles only had room for one shopping cart. Maneuvering around the ends of aisles was particularly tricky.

This is a very small building for a supermarket and I couldn't find many of the items I was looking for. Often I have found an item I liked there and it was never there again. When you can find a person to help you, they will offer to order certain items for you. I tried that with cat food. They said they might have ordered it so it would be there on Thursday. I went back on Thursday, it wasn't there. They offered to order it and I had to wait until the Thursday after that.

The staff (when you can find them) are generally friendly and they will sometimes take your groceries out to your car for you. Personally, I'd much rather bring the groceries out myself and have cheaper groceries, but some people like this hometown touch.

I have elected to drive 40 minutes away to shop at the Price Chopper in Lake Placid. Even when you take the gas money into account, it is still cheaper buying groceries at the Price Chopper.

PROS: Only local grocery store with brand names, they take bags out to your car for you
CONS: Location, selection, maneuverability, prices

The store is located on Park Street in a centrally located area. Parking was a problem but with the new expanded parking lot and additional parking across the street things have gotten better. The recent closure of the local TOPS store has increased the customer load on the store. The staff are very friendly, helpful and help take groceries to your car. There is not enough variety in the basic food categories. The store is clean and organized. The Deli is wonderful and well liked by everyone in the community. The meat and dairy sections are very limited in quantity. Prices tend to be at least 15 - 25% higher than TOPS unless there are specials.

PROS: Deli is fantastic; prices are very good on subs and salads
CONS: Prices are too high; not enough variety
