STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU DON'T PLAN TO CANCEL EVER!!!

ONE STAR RATING IS TOO HIGH FOR THIS BUSINESS!!

I joined Bally @ Englewood Cliffs, NJ with my wife on March of 2011. The sales person that helped us, ALLAN RAMIREZ was very swift and helpful to get us signed up. At the time, he told us we could bring a cancellation letter to him and he would take care of it. A few weeks ago we went to the location and we were told we could ONLY cancel in writing.

I called customer support today and spent over 30 minutes trying to get a representative on the line, which you can only do by asking to sign up or add a member.
The rep that picked the line ""LUIS UGALDE"" told me that even though I was the husband and the account buyer/payer, we had to send a SEPARATE CERTIFIED LETTERS EACH. He even said to mail to a different address other than the one on the contract.

I called my local Bally to corroborate the address. The ""manager"" there ""ALEXIS HERNANDEZ"" said he didn't have the address and that I should call customer service. What kind of manager can't give you this kind of information??? This guy even put me on hold every two minutes, then pick the line as if he didn't know who I was or what I was talking about.
THEY ARE ALL TRAIN VERY WELL TO GIVE YOU THE TURN AROUND SO YOU DESIST ON CANCELLING!

If I could give Ballys zero stars, I would. These are my major complaints:

1. This gym is soooo dirty and disgusting that is has become intolerable. There is no quality control whatsoever.

2. Personal trainers are uncertified and did not know more about fitness than I do. Anyone knows that a girl does not want to bulk up in the shoulders.

3. Personal Trainers stalk you if you don't make regular appointments. They are told to call you on a regular basis to tell you that you need to come to the gym. Meaning every other day. And they do not stop. I had this guy leaving messages on my voicemail for a month before I picked up and told him to stop calling. When he asked why I said: ""if Im interested making an appointment with you I will call you."" Duh! Also, they make commission when you sign up, so 4 sessions before my package of 12 sessions were used up I was repeatedly being asked to bring my credit card to resign up.

4. Bally's the company is unprofessional. They are not direct with you. Neither is there contract. They do not provide cancellation info on there website. You need to call up. Hold for minimum 15 minutes only to find out that you have to snail mail a cancellation. By this time, I had little time to get my letter to them before the next monthly installment was due.

5. Did I mention that this gym is dirty?

It ruined my credit score, I had to write to the BBB and they ran some B.S. about me to get this over with. If you go online and search Bally's and complaints. you will see I am not the only one. This is a common practice with this gym franchise.

If something like a gym ruins your credit score and has nothing but computerized customer service phone numbers to give you, you better stay far far away.

Stick to small gyms where you can talk to PEOPLE.

I have been a member of Bally,s in Sheepshead Bay,Brooklyn for quite sometime,recently they added a lot of new cardio equipment,and new free motions machines. In addition I would like to share a few words about my personal trainer Yevgeniy.he has been my personal trainer since the beginning of 2009.

This is a very dirty and smelly club. The equipment is not clean and often broken. The locker room is filthy dirty. The health department needs to check tis club. It is a true abomination. If you are not already a ember I would not join, for those lomng time members as myself, complain complain complain so perhaps somethimng will be done

NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN, service is sheety, bathrooms and locker rooms are gross and not clean, all equipment is broken and it takes them forever to fix it. and moreover, their system doesn't work properly, they charged me twice for one month and never returned the money, nobody knew why it happened and they kept trasfering me from one stupid rep to another. there is no way you can manage your account online, only pay, but when it comes to removing your credit card from their file guess what!!! you can not do it neither online nor on the phone, you have to send this bastards a letter with the cancellation request.
