My boyfriend and I were searching for something "off the beaten path" and we found it here. The ambiance was refreshing and delightful. The service was impecable, friendly, and made us feel like we were old friends. Great bargain and delicious eats for brunch menu. We look forward to retuning again soon. Enjoy !

I don't even live in the neighborhood, but this remains the place I bring friends & relatives that I really want to "spoil." The food is top-notch, the service impeccable and the hosts should write THE book on hosting. Every time I walk out of there, I feel like I just indulged in one of NYC's best values. I like a lot of restaurants, but I LOVE the York Grill..

My boyfriend and I come here at least once per week. Very often, we have a drink or 2 at the bar snacking on the mixed olives.

The staff is the friendliest of the neighborhood!

I have eaten in the dining area, but for some reason, a light meal at the bar is perfect!

I've been going to York Grill for 10 years and it's always getting better. Their menu changes periodically for the better and their meats and fishes are always fresh and well-prepared. This restaurant is basically a nice steakhouse, but worth it.

Had a wonderful time at York Grill. The food was delicious, the menu was good, and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. The staff was nice and very attentative. We look forward to coming back to York Grill. Try the Grilled Marinated Skirt Steak, it was cooked just the way I like it and was so flavorful. York Grill does steaks right!

York Grill is a delight! This UES gem has warm hosts, helpful waiters, a great kitchen and wonderful daily specials. Their Sunday brunch is one of the best uptown. Their Prix Fixe holiday meals are an easy and elegant way to please everyone in your party without breaking the bank. An ideal place to take a client, a first date, your in-laws, or just yourself. You won't be disappointed!

These reviews are way off. The cocktails are great. The steak special is disappointing. The filet mignon was better. Service was fine, but nothing like described here. The host was actually quite rude.

My husband and I looked all over the city for an affordable, elegant place to hold a small wedding reception. We did a Saturday brunch because the restaurant is normally closed, and they gave us the whole space. They offered a cocktail hour and a delicious brunch that pleased both my traditional relatives and my NYer friends. The staff are professionals and extremely friendly and made the whole experience perfect.

I took my 'foodie' family from out of town here on a recommendation. It was quite simply one of the best dineing experiences any of us have had in probably a decade. The service was extraordinary in all facets...from the greeting we received from the hostesses, the gracious owners, the bussers and most of all our waiter Cliff; a charming, consummate professional. The meal was four star. Delicious, intelligent food preperation and presentation. There is a master working in that kitchen. A bonified gem of a restaurant. Thank you York Grill for exceeding my expectations. Now I know where I will bring ALL of my clients and guests. Perfect.

there is always a reason to dine at the york grill, the staff is always professional and courteous amkeing a specila occaion mroe special. the brunches have a flair and the dining menu, is varied enough for anyone's appetite or diet. but most of all i love the atmosphere. the modigliani type art and candles make the retaurant continually inviting, for a quiet dinner or special occasion. Valentine's DAy was the best ever. The menu was "extraordinaire" .... Worth the trip, even from downtown....

My parents discovered this oasis of superb service and excellent fare with "real people" pricing and a relaxed, but also elegant setting. The staff is difficult to beat because they are always pleasant and knowledgable about the "cans" and "will do(s)" that the restaurant can offer. Not only do they go out of their way for the clients, but they do it sincerely and professionally. This is a neighborhood find that ranks right up there with the best the city has to offer.

one of my favs!!! so glad i live on the UES or I may never have found it! like i read somewhere once, i'm glad it's off the beaten path b/c otherwise I might never get in!! great service, great ambiance, great food!! always love it here! the skirt steak is their specialty and it's delicious!! the calamari is yummy too!! definitely worth going no matter where you live!!

I have been there twice and consider this to be one of my all times favorite restaurants. The chicken is incredible...very moist with excellent flavor. My husband loves the skirt steak....considers it to be the best in nyc.!!!! Great value ...with large portions.

Went with boyfriend and his family on Sunday evening. I got the house special - the skirt steak - which was by far the best dish of the house. Service started off a little rusty but the waiter eventually got the hang of it. Didn't have first wine selection, nor one of the specials which he told us about only a minute before ordering. Nice ambiance, quiet, not pretentious, and overall food is good. Just seemed like our waiter was either burnt out after a long weekend or it was only his first week on the job.

My boyfriend and I went here for his 27th birthday. I was looking for a romantic restaurant with great food, and I definitely did find one! We had a reservation and were seated right away. The ambience was romantic with dim lighting. Our waitress was great...very attentive and happy to answer any questions. My boyfriend loves steak and ordered their signature steak (I forget the name of it!). He said it was the best steak he's ever eaten! I tried it too , and it was fabulous! I ordered a cavatelli dish with a sambuca sauce...very different, but also very good. We are looking forward to taking our couples friends out to York Grill when they come to visit!

Have read reviews over time and finally had an opportunity to visit. Brought a friend from out of town and we were very pleasently surprised. Even though the place was very dark (difficult to read menus!), the decor was lovely and we felt quite comfortable at a table by the front winow. The menu of upscale American fare is somewhat intimidating as there are almost too many choices, but our wonderful waiter Eric came to the rescue suggesting and describing specials as if he had just polished off dinner himself. Request to sit in his section, as he is quite simply one of the most gracious and accomplished waiters you're likely to have. Everything, from the Filet Minion to the Monkfish was sublime. Suggestions for wine were spot on and our evening was quite memorable.

Living in the neighbourhood, every time I come here, I come for the marinated skirt steak. It is beyond delicious and could give those major steakhouses a run for their money. I particularly enjoy the sauteed onions with the steak and they are a great complement to the meat, along with the mashed potatoes. This is definitely the place I come to when I desire comfort food. The only issue I might have with it is the lighting, which is a little dim for my tastes. I haven't had brunch here yet so I can't really give it a rating but unfortunately, there wasn't a "Not Applicable" rating.

I just took my husband to the York Grill for his birthday dinner and the food was just fabulous! I had the skirt steak, which was as soft as butter and so flavorful because it had this sweet glaze all over it. My husband had the filet mignon which was sitting on "pounds" of sauteed spinach. These entrees were extremely hearty and they weren't stingy with the appetizers either. You really get your money's worth at this restaurant. The overall restaurant decor is pleasant and even the "hidden" location makes going here a treat!

I absolutely love everything about the York Grill. I especially love the delicious, fresh Halibut and other fish dishes and specials - and of course the crab cakes. The owner always makes us feel so special which is one of the reasons we eat York Grill several times a week. Even though we are out of the immediate area, we think it is worth the trip! The staff of York Grill has been so helpful in planning celebrations for us and we are hosting my daughter's birthday party there next month.

I have rarely had such a terrific dining experience. I had a party of seven on a Saturday night and things could not have been nicer. The owner greeted us at the door and turned us over to one of the best waiters in the business. Menu and specials rated really high in our group. Great wines and really good desserts.

Our family has eaten at the Grill over many years. Despite the comments , the Grill IS friendly for kids and even grandkids. The management is very helpful and send me an invitation every year on my birthday offering a bottle of champagne. They remember your name and try to accomodate you with the dining times you ask for.

The York Grill was a discovery my boyfriend and myself made while furniture shopping for our new place. The sales assistant highly recommnended the York Grill for Sunday Brunch. We were delighted to find such a gem and frequent it often. You know an establishment is special when you want to take friends often.

After dining at York Grill a few times as well as having enjoyed their outstanding Sunday brunch, we decided everything about the restaurant made it the ideal spot for my mom's birthday brunch. The owners couldn't have been more accomodating -- we had the entire restaurant to ourselves on a Saturday (before it opens to the public for dinner). The menu, decor, service and naturally the food, were outstanding. We already have reservations to go back for dinner next month..HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My boyfriend took me to dinner here last Saturday night. I'm not quite sure if it was the rain outside, the delightful and hearty food, or the amazingly gracious server, but even at the end of the meal, I couldn't bear to leave the restaurant! The atmosphere is perfect for a cozy dinner; romantic enough for two, but loud and vibrant enough for a large party (we were seated next to a five-top and saw two large groups come and go). My boyfriend's french onion soup was one of the best I've ever tasted, and my dijon salmon was so filling I couldn't even finish it! Although we didn't have dessert, the real the evening was relaxing in the dim glow of the restaurant, finishing our glasses of wine, and enjoying the wonderful buzz of the diners.

I would like to preface this by saying thank you to the staff at the York Grill for giving me a fantastic birthday dinner. The skirt steak and lamb was excellent, plus the warm romaine salad is a must try. Plan on taking food home,as we did, the portions are huge and at great prices .

Family outing to celebrate some birthdays. It was very nice ambiance, the owner/manager were very attentive to our needs (especially with our stroller). Service was par excellence. Nice menu selection. Spring rolls were better than expected, crab cakes & calamari were ok. Entrees - the veal was very good but the lamb chops & lobster ravioli were disappointing. SUM IT: For an occassion this would be a nice choice due to ambiance & service, but the food is average fare for the price.

Simply stated, this is my wife and my place. We eat here at least everyother Friday. More than just a neighborhood place; it should be a destination --- but we selfishly hope it stays under the radar. Inventive food. Affordable wines. Nice size drinks. But more importantly the nicest, most courteous wait staff in NYC. You feel like family from the first visit.

Unlike many other restaurants in the city, yes you can have both; Great service and great food! The York Grill is a wonderful all around restaurant. Very cozy without being cramped. Romantic on a date and even great to take the folks. I keep going back because I crave the great skirt steak. The brunch on Sunday is one of the best I've had, and a good deal.

This was absolutely the most amazing dining experience. My boyfriend and I wanted something romantic and that's what we got. perfect ambience!the staff was friendly and efficient and not at all pretentious.
The crab cakes were the best I've had and the skirt steak, their specialty, was fantastic.
I will keep going back.

I can't say enough positive things about York Grill. Everything is superb from food to service to atmosphere to prices. I've gone back countless times and every time is as perfect as the next. I used to make it a point to try new places with so many NY restaurants, but I can't help going back time after time.

My date said it was "the best place I've been in Manhattan!" We felt like VIPs from the moment we entered! The warm greeting from the manager, the pleasant coat check girl, the nice jazz music. Not once did we feel rushed. And, there was no stuffy atmosphere! We were promptly seated at the corner table! The menu is full of mouth-watering selections, making it difficult to decide. The portobella mushroom with goat cheese and tomato, and the filet carpaccio appetizers were spectacular! The roasted garlic and shitake mushroom stuffed filet... PERFECT! The mahi mahi... absolutely delicious. And our waiter, Carlos, was knowledgable, attentive, and unobtrusive. He helped make the evening even more enjoyable. I'll definitely return and bring out-of-town guests and clients.

This is one of the undiscovered gems in the city. Luck for us it is so far over on York. The
food is always good, the dining room is quick charming and the staff friendly. Just a great
place for a great meal and not too expansive.

This is by far one of the best restaurants we've been to. The service is perfect, food is perfect, and its not too expensive. The only downside is that its tucked all the way in the NorthEast corner of Manhattan (block away from Gracie Mansion). But we live around the corner so its perfect. Even the sunday brunch is the best we've ever had. We highly recommend this quiet little restaurant to any and all in search of a great dining experience.
