I have been to the Medical Center 2 times. I have health insurance and decided to walk to the nearest professional medical facility instead of travelling to Manhattan or Park Slope or Brooklyn Heights... I was treated with care and respect, and found th emedical staff to be observant, patient and sensitive to my needs. The doctor even discussed my prescriptions and health care supplements with me, amd whether there were any contra-indications -- and took time to research on the computer! I have since sent my son there for dental work -- very caring and diligent staff! Things are much better now it seems than what was written below.

I have experienced all that was stated by the previous two writers. Pregnant and waited four hours plus. Crampped sitting rooms, even the doctors seem extremely owerworked, since they work and perform surgery @ Brooklyn Hospital and then rush over to the Brooklyn Plaza to deal with the crowd there. as such I think the patients do not receive any particular personal attention.

Now for the past thirty days or so I am trying to get my records transfered to a less hectic, more professuonal doctor's office that I have recently found. Why is the guy in the Medical records not transferring it after I spoke to him on numerous occasions and he confirmed that he redceived my fax, after stating he did not receive the transfer request that was sent by ny present physician.
PROBABLY MY RECORDS ARE LOST
Attention all OB/GYN patients in Brooklyn, stay away from Brooklyn Plaza, I recommend you call 718-940-BABYand experience modernised treatment in a professional and technologically advanced enviroment. Keep up the good work Dr. Osei and Kwake.

When I started a new job my insurance changed and so, I was faced with the task of finding a new doctor for my daughter (14), my husband and myself (in our 40s).

The very first visit was insane. They have two small waiting areas with seating of about 20 maybe 25 people; however, they book appointments for double that amount, not to mention the walk-ins.

The place had a musty smell, it was dirty (especially the pediatric waiting area), the television was so loud that everyone in the waiting area had to yell to communicate with one another and the wait was about 4 hours, and that was with a scheduled appointment made two weeks in advance. The staff was overworked and on edge when you went to the window to ask how much longer would be before the doctor calls.

I have been a patient at this clinic (I have not been able to find a more convenient location and hours) for over one year and the situations that I have seen played out here are ridiculous.

On several occasion, once in the elevator the other time while waiting outside of the GYN's office I heard the HIV counselor and a nurse discussing confidential information and saying terrible things about the patients. On another occasion, again, two nurses speaking badly about their coworkers in a public vestibule. Talk about lack of professionalism.

The incident that the person spoke about in the previous comment about Charts being lost...HELLO, it happened to my chart and my daughter's chart. Incompetence.

Thank goodness that in the next few weeks, I will finally be moving and I will be in a new zip code with more options for Medical Centers.

Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center should be investigated. Truly need an overhaul of that place both the office building and the staff.

Overall the staff I have encountered here are pleasant enough, but everything is downhill from there. I actually had a very bad experience the first time I went to the Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center, but they told me that it was a particularly bad day (a four hour wait for a scheduled appointment!) because the doctor wasn't in. But I really wonder why would you make so many appointments, when there is only a nurse practitioner and no doctor? Secondly, why wouldn't you inform your patients about this when they are making an appointment?

However the staff at this center do not think like that. They continue to tell you that it won't be much longer, and that they will be with you in a minute. Imagine hearing that repeatedly, when you have waited nearly four hours? And sure every doctor office has it's bad days, so I did come back thinking my first experience was a fluke. It was not; this place just can't get there stuff together. A patient in the waiting room with me said they loose their family's chart practically every time they come. Not only are they inefficient, they seem to be inept too.

Here's the breakdown.
Positive: You can easily get an appointment, overall staff are friendly
Negatives: Facilities are run down, Long wait for scheduled appoints, Staff are exceptionally inefficient, Staff do not explain things clearly

Hey if you want to waste your time in a waiting room all day that's up to you, but I would suggest finding another doctor office.
