LI Outdoorsman's response to Ed s. review complaining about the high prices of batteries following Hurricane Sandy. Same day and overnight shipping costs were unusually and EXTREMELY high immediately following the hurricane due to lack of available trucks, fuel, road closings, difficulty entering or leaving Long Island, etc. Many items such as lanterns and heaters were so expensive to have shipped that we literally made ZERO profit after selling them. We filed complaints with our shipping carriers, ESPECIALLY FEDEX, for the increase in shipping costs following the storm. One shipment that I'll never forget was a $500 overnight lantern and heater order from Pennsylvania that cost $800 to ship. My mom and dad own this store and I can remember my mom crying as she was pricing the items for sale because she was upset about the pricing. Due to Rockville Centre having its own power grid, we never lost power, but most people had no power, flooded houses, snow storm right after hurricane hit, etc. People demanded supplies so we got them at all costs. I hope something like that never happens again on Long Island.

Price Gauging!!
Any company that takes advantage of its customers or the public
does not deserve your support.
They charged a friend $8 for two D batteries in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Shame on you!!
